Small Changes: Wild Natural Deodorant

23 Feb 2021

There are a few reasons I wanted to switch up my deodorant; I find deodorants full of unnecessary chemicals and alcohol easily trigger an eczema flare up on my underarms, and I wanted to switch to something that was more eco-friendly than the brands I had been using over the years. Whilst I've tried a good few animal-friendly brands and really enjoyed using them, they all came in plastic packaging and where I can, plastic is something I really want to reduce my usage of. After seeing one to many adverts online, I succumbed to the marketing plan and decided to give Wild Natural Deodorant a try. 8 months later, I'm still smitten.

Wild Natural Deodorant is a subscription service, where once you've had your initial set including your deodorant case, you receive a refill box containing three deodorant refills, at the timescale of your choosing. For me, that's every 4-5 months, and that's with daily usage. I've been pleasantly surprised by how long this deodorant lasts!

As a natural deodorant, you won't find synthetic chemicals, aluminium, parabens or sulphates in Wild deodorants. It's completely plastic free, from the packaging it arrives in to the deodorant case and even the deodorant casing; which also happens to be compostable, how amazing is that?! They're also cruelty-free, meaning at no point in their production do they test on animals, which is always good to hear.

The case is, of course, reusable. There's a few colours on offer; I went for the mint green but fully intend on buying the lavender case soon. The case itself is very well made, easy to use and pop refills in and I like the sleek design. They also do a few limited edition cases and scents throughout the year, usually themed around a particular season or event, which adds a nice fun aspect.

I've found it doesn't leave white marks on my clothing, it doesn't feel sticky or uncomfortable, and I like the scent selection available - although I've definitely found my favourite in Coconut Dreams, which has a subtle scent but is also super moisturising and has been very kind to my sensitive eczema prone skin.

Before trying Wild Natural Deodorant and I had spent months (no exaggeration) searching natural deodorants online, checking out reviews, looking at every eco-friendly website there is, and nothing ticked my boxes whilst still being affordable. When I decided to give Wild a try, I wasn't sure it would turn out to be anything more than an impulse buy, but I'm really glad I decided to make that initial order and I excitedly await my third refill box in March. For me, it's turned out to be the best eco-friendly deodorant I could ask for.
