The Busy Mom Makeup Bag

3 Mar 2020

Oh, how I miss the days before I became a Mother, where I could spend hours if I wanted to, doing my makeup and hair, getting myself ready, most of the time, to do absolutely nothing but sit at home, but just having that time to do myself up with no interruptions. Those were the days! Now? I'm lucky if I manage a quick 15 minutes using the microwave as a mirror. When I'm in a rush, when I just want to cover the basics or I want to hide any monthly blemishes, there are a few staple products I reach for in a rush - introducing, The Busy Mom Makeup Bag

I'm forever wanting to hide dark circles, and blemishes when nature calls, easily dealt with thanks to a new concealer favourite bought on a whim, the NYX Can't Stop Won't Stop Contour Concealer. As you might have guessed from the name, the range can be used to conceal and contour, although I stick with concealing and use shade Natural. It conceals a multitude of sins and is pretty decent going for a high-street concealer.

Base wise, I find the quickest and easiest foundation for application and blending to a lovely finish in quick time, is the Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick, one of the few bases I've repurchased time and time again; I use my hero shade in all Bobbi Brown foundations, which is Warm Beige. It's just such an easy product to use, gives a lovely natural light matte finish and has great longevity, too.

I love creating eye looks using several different shadows but that's not always possible, especially if I'm in a rush. Instead, I opt for quick and easy shadows that work well alone and require very little work. My absolute favourite go-to for this is the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick in the most wonderful and flattering shade, Golden Bronze. I always get compliments when I wear this shade and I just adore the formula of the Bobbi Brown Shadow Sticks.

Went I want something a little lighter in shade, I love using my Inika Mineral Eyeshadow in the very pretty shade, Whisper. The mineral eyeshadow range from Inika is my favourite when it comes to mineral makeup, they have the loveliest shades and blend beautifully.

I've tried a few Eyeko products over the years and haven't got on well with most of them, but I really enjoy using the Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner in Black for a quick and easy cat-eye flick. It lasts all day long without smudging, you'll need a good oil-based cleanser to remove this one!

For mascara, I've been surprised by how much I enjoy using the Benefit BAD Gal Bang! mascara.I've been a fan of the original Benefit BAD Gal Mascara in the past, but the Bang! version has a much better applicator brush, I think this one will make the repurchase list!

When it comes to everyday makeup, I tend to go for a slightly more natural look with my brows than my usual bold go-to, and I find the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Brow Gel is great for a quick brow to fill in and tidy. I use the shade Mahogany and find it's much more flattering when on, than other gel brow products I've used over the years.

When it comes to adding warmth to my face, I'm still loving an old favourite, that I've finally hit pan on but still has a lot of life left in it yet! The Bagsy Beauty Ray of Sunshine Perfect Glow Bronzing Powder is a great bronzer for adding a subtle everyday glow; I use shade Light/Medium and find it just right for adding a touch of warmth and a light contour.

I've been having a bit of a break from blushers, as I seem to prefer the my overall look with bronzer and highlighter at the moment, and my highlighter of choice over the past few months which is great for using on any areas you want to add some light is the cult favourite theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer. It just works so well with any look; a little goes a long way, so it's perfect for those who like just a touch of highlight, to those who like to make a big impact with their highlighter.

Lips, they always finish a look, don't they? Whenever it comes to nude lipsticks I love to start with the world-famous Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lip Cheat Re-Shape and Re-Size Lip Liner, I find it works wonderfully with any shade of nude lipstick and is a really comfortable lip liner to wear; there's nothing drying about this one, and it doesn't feather or smudge throughout the day. I like to team it with my Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in Stoned Rose; I find this shade very flattering against my Mediterranean complexion and I love the formula, which is lightweight and has a very slight shine finish to it.

Last but not least, not quite a makeup must-have but certainly a skincare must-have, I always make sure to have a hydrating hand cream in my busy mom makeup bag. I'm currently making my way through the Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment Cream; it's nice, but does more for my hands than my nails!
