Books for New Siblings

13 Mar 2020

One of the questions I was asked the most when I was pregnant with Hadley, was how we were preparing Willow, who was 2 years and 9 months when Hadley was born, to become a big sister. Having a new sibling, especially when you're used to being an only child, is a huge adjustment to make and we wanted to make Willow understand as best as she could for her age.

Cactus Cafe Mexican Restaurant Loughborough Review

11 Mar 2020

Loughborough has a fairly diverse variety of cuisines to choose from, whether you're eating in, ordering out or just want something quick to grab and go when out shopping. If there's one thing we have in abundance, it's restaurants and takeaways! One restaurant which has stood the test of time in Loughborough is Cactus Cafe, which is now in its 30th year, opening in 1990.

Our Family Almanacs

9 Mar 2020

For a couple of years now I have been making sure to buy Willow a yearly Almanac, and this year I decided to buy one for myself too. I thought they would be worth sharing because they have made a really wonderful addition to our at-home library; Willow actively asks if we can read more of her Almanac.

My Fairy Garden Review

4 Mar 2020

Ah, TV adverts, they know how to entice their target audiences, don't they? Whilst Willow is usually a Cbeebies fan, we often like to have Milkshake! on in the mornings, which comes with lots of glorious toy adverts. Of course, as with most toddlers, what follows this is "Can I have one of those please mummy?", to which I always reply, "Maybe! We'll see.". Most things get forgotten about, but one particular advert has a song that I spent far too long trying to get out of my head and for once, it was something I actually didn't mind the look of - My Fairy Garden. I searched online for where was best to get a good deal on them, then ordered one for her 4th birthday in January.

The Busy Mom Makeup Bag

3 Mar 2020

Oh, how I miss the days before I became a Mother, where I could spend hours if I wanted to, doing my makeup and hair, getting myself ready, most of the time, to do absolutely nothing but sit at home, but just having that time to do myself up with no interruptions. Those were the days! Now? I'm lucky if I manage a quick 15 minutes using the microwave as a mirror. When I'm in a rush, when I just want to cover the basics or I want to hide any monthly blemishes, there are a few staple products I reach for in a rush - introducing, The Busy Mom Makeup Bag.

Ollie the Owl Sleep Aid Review | AD

2 Mar 2020

As first-time parents, we learnt pretty quickly how invaluable it is to have something that helps soothe your baby, particularly in the middle of the night. Since our first daughter was born back in early 2016, a lot of new sleep aids have hit the baby market and we were excited to try one with Hadley, from a favourite baby brand of ours, The Gro Company. Would Ollie the Owl* work as well as our favourites for Willow?

Motherhood Four Years On

1 Mar 2020

Willow turned 4 in January, which honestly blows my mind because it feels like only yesterday that my partner and I were starting a family together. Now we're a family of four with a 4-year-old who will be starting Primary School later this year. The first few years of Motherhood have been, for me, like an absolute whirlwind, so I think it's safe to say I've learnt a few lessons along the way. Here are the four things that stand out to me the most, that I have learned since becoming a Mother.

“Yes, it’s terribly simple. The good guys are always stalwart and true, the bad guys are easily distinguished by their pointy horns or black hats, and, uh, we always defeat them and save the day. No one ever dies, and everybody lives happily ever after.” – Giles, Buffy the Vampire Slayer
