Flashback to my childhood and teens, and I would have told you I didn't need sunscreen, I never ever wore SPF. It's only since my 20's that I started to realise how absolutely paramount it is to protect our skin and wearing SPF, daily, is so important. It's important in the UK and it's important when you go on holiday, wearing SPF is one of the easiest ways you can ensure your skin is protected as possible.

Vichy Ideal Soleil Sun Care Range Review

On our recent holiday to Cyprus, SPF was top of the list when it came to what we needed to get for our holiday. We needed something for the adults and even more importantly, the right level of protection for Willow. I never leave the house without Willow wearing SPF, even in autumn and winter in the UK, because it's my priority to ensure I protect her, so having the right protection on holiday, in a Country where we would be out in the sun 90% of the time, was a very important point on our checklist.

Thankfully, Vichy has a range which covers both adults and children, body sun care and facial sun care, and happens to be very decently priced; mid-range prices ranging from £9 to £18, which actually, is a lot cheaper than the more popular suncare brands we've grown up with. I have used Vichy skincare for years now so I had no doubts that the Ideal Soleil Sun Care range would be a winning range for us and knew I would trust their products to protect my daughters delicate and fragile skin.

If you're looking for a cream SPF for your little ones, the Vichy Ideal Soleil Children's Face & Body Gentle Milk SPF50+ is great and a huge 300ml bottle costs just £19. That'd last a holiday and a lot of summer fun here in the UK! The formula is light-weight and non-greasy, it leaves literally no residue whatsoever which is something I've found with all Vichy products I've used. It includes a Mexoryl XL-based photostable, broad spectrum UVA and UVB filtering system, which helps to protect skin from the harmful effects of UV rays. We used this daily, applying in the morning before heading out for the day and after naps before heading back out in the afternoon, or before our evening meals.

For out and about, we opted to use the Vichy Ideal Soleil Children's Face & Body Lotion Spray SPF50+, which was so much easier for reapplying SPF throughout the day, quicker with it's spray applicator and light-weight formula that makes topping up protection every 2 hours or after being in the pool, an absolute breeze! This one comes in at £16 for 200ml, and I would repurchase in a flash!

The Vichy Ideal Soleil range also covers adults and we were using the Vichy Ideal Soleil Hydrating Milk SPF30, which comes in a 300ml bottle and costs £19. It's suitable for all the family so you can use this particular SPF for adults and children if you'd prefer not to buy individual products for little ones, but bare in mind the higher the SPF the better when it comes to babies and children, so an SPF50+ will offer more protection. For us adults, an SPF30 was more than enough and with a non-greasy formula, the application was fuss-free. Also formulated with a wide spectrum filter system and photostable UVA and UVB based Mexoryl, it kept our skin protected against the beautiful bright sun on holiday.

If you prefer sprays for yourself, too, then the La Roche-Posay Anthelios Ultra Light SPF30 is a fantastic spray SPF that I personally adored using when out and about to top up my sun care protection. Like Willow's spray SPF, I just loved how easy it was to reapply with such a light-weight formula which didn't leave my skin feeling greasy or sticky after use. I also find the spray SPF's can be lighter and easier to carry around, so better for keeping bags light if you're off out exploring for the day! The Anthelios Ultra Light SPF comes in a 200ml bottle and costs £17.50.

It's so important to stay protected when our in the sun, regardless of where in the world you are, and Vichy and La Roche-Posay have such wonderful suncare ranges that I wholeheartedly recommend. Wearing SPF doesn't mean you won't get some colour whilst on holiday, it just ensures your skin is as protected and cared for as possible, and I don't think there's anything more important than protecting ourselves, do you?
