A Quarter of a Year

Exactly three months ago today, Willow was born. Those three months have absolutely flown by and in that time she has changed more than I ever imagined possible. I simply cannot believe the change in my little girl, the way her face has changed entirely, the things she is now capable of, the way she grows and develops every single day, her tiny fuzzy hairs as her hair starts to thicken up. She amazes me and leaves me in awe with each passing hour and I still have to pinch myself everyday; how did I ever get this lucky?

The Happiness Planner First Impressions

I think I've gone a bit planner mad. I am utterly obsessed with my Erin Condren Life Planner and it's something I actually look forward to sitting down and writing in. I love organising my days, getting to keep on top of family life and blog plans with ease as well as having space to plan meals, keep note of any special appointments and jot down any ideas or little things I need to remember. It's become an incredibly handy asset to keeping my baby brain organised and staying on track with every aspect of our lives, which for me is brilliant as I just love being as organised as possible.

I knew it wouldn't be long before I looked into other planners which I could add to my desk and fall in love with, and after some online searching and lusting over Instagram, I finally decided to order The Happiness Planner.

Lush Ro's Argan Body Conditioner

A Lush Ro's Argan Body Conditioner review
Since I began writing Tattooed Tealady back in April 2012, one brand which has featured consistency and my love has only grown for, is Lush. I have shared reviews of practically every Lush product I have ever used and they are one of the few brands I constantly go back to, falling more in love with each of their products and always excited by new releases and limited edition collections. When you love a brand as much as I love Lush, it's only so long before you have to give in and try their most raved about cult products.

Soap & Glory Makeup Testing

Soap & Glory Makeup Review
There's a few products in my beauty stash from Soap & Glory which are staples in my beauty routine, such as the Kick Ass Concealer and Kick Ass Instant Retouch Pressed Powder, so I was super excited when a some new Soap & Glory products popped their way through my letterbox for me to give a try.

Exploring Bobbi Brown Face Masks

Bobbi Brown Face Masks Review
When your favourite high-end beauty brand branches out and launches a new range of face masks, you know you just have to try them. Cue my delight when overdue with Willow and a little package popped through my letter box, including a trial size of each of the new masks Bobbi Brown have on offer. Of course when you have a newborn, beauty regimes go right out of the window and as I mentioned in my review of the Pixi Hydrating Milky Mist, I'm really upping my skincare game again after all but forgetting skincare existed in Willow's first few weeks, so this little trio has definitely come in handy.

Tried, tested, it's time to share my thoughts on these little tubes of skincare goodness.

Gwen Stefani Brow Box

A picture of Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Brow Box

Brows have remained one of the biggest beauty focuses over recent years, yet very rarely do brands bring out new brow products. What's wonderful about brows is that we all like a different look and just like our own brows, more like sisters than twins, right?, you'll never see two girls with the same brow shape and style.

For me, brows are my one couldn't-go-outside-without when it comes to makeup. Even if I'm opting out of the blush, bronze and highlight, leaving the lipstick in my acrylic storage and avoiding the effort that eyeliner takes, I have to do my brows. Sometimes I apply the smallest amount of product, just to give them a fuller look, seeing as my brows are naturally extremely sparse. Other times I go the full hog, defining, shaping, filling, big bold brows that may look too much to others, but to me give me that confidence boost and make me feel happier in my look.

The birth I didn't plan

When you're pregnant you spend a lot of time thinking about your little one coming into this world. The closer you get to your due date all you do is plan your perfect birth; wonder how it'll feel, how long you'll be in labour for, how it'll feel when your baby is put into your arms after so many long months wishing and hoping for their safe arrival, wondering what they'll look like and what their first cry will sound like. You start to imagine every last detail, painting this idyllic picture in your head.

When your birth doesn't go the way you planned, it can be devastating.

Making Life Easier with Snugglebundl

A Snugglebundl Baby Blanket Lifting Wrap review

Having an emergency caesarean has had a much bigger impact on my start to motherhood than I could have ever imagined. When you have a caesarean you are told that recovery will take between 4 to 6 weeks, it gives you a time frame to look forward to and until then, you just have to get through the healing and recovery process.

But if you're like me, you can hit 11 weeks on and still be recovering. I've had infection after infection, I gave myself a small tear and throughout these 11 weeks I have struggled continuously to fulfill even the most simple of daily tasks. It doesn't make life easy when you have a baby to look after, when even so much as getting up from bed can cause pain and discomfort.

5 Things I've learnt about high-street beauty

A picture of budget beauty products

Although there's no denying I prefer my high-end beauty, high-street products and brands are where my beauty obsession started out. Over the years I've tried countless products and dabbled in dozens of brands, all claiming to be the next best thing. Some are amazing, great quality for the price, easy contenders for their high-end counterparts. Others don't quite fit the bill and are lacking in that something-something that makes me splash the cash on those high-end alternatives.

Bringing Memories to Life with Cheerz

A picture of a Cheerz Big Fat Box
Although the advances in technology and the countless apps and devices we have make our lives a heck of a lot easier, I will always have a little nostalgia for the simpler days when I was growing up. OK so the photos were never great quality and you took the risk of them being out of focus, but spending your pocket money on a disposable camera and getting all your pictures printed out was always so much fun. I used to love putting together little photo albums and taking photos of family, friends, trips away.

Budget Pink Lips

A picture of Sephora Cream Lip Stain, Maybelline Color Drama Lipstick and Jordanna Modern Matte Lipstick
For the past year I have been massively into my nudes when it comes to my lipsticks, but now that spring has sprung there's something about those bold bright pinks that I can't ignore.

Before Christmas I had a huge clear out of my makeup stash and with that went a lot of my budget makeup, but a few special pieces got to stick around and some of those budget products and brands include 3 rather delicious bright pinks just absolutely perfect for this time of year.

Some of Our Favourite Things #1

A picture of Baby's Very First Black and White Books
For as long as I have written Tattooed Tealady, I have shared my monthly favourites featuring products which have stood out to me the most that month, the products and brand I've enjoyed using the most. I wanted to start doing the same sort of posts for Willow, now that our days are filled with baby toys and products specifically for babies. These posts won't necessarily be every month, but as and when we have a few things that she's been enjoying that I'd like to share.

As well as being a nice way to document the things Willow is enjoying at different stages, it may come in handy for any expectant or new parents who aren't sure what products to go for or whether a certain toy or book is the right one for them.

Our Saviour the Whisbear

A picture of Whisbear The Humming Bear
When you're a new parent with a newborn that won't stop crying and you've ticked off all the usual culprits; do they need feeding? do they need a nappy change? are they too hot or too cold? do they have wind? maybe a cuddle will do the trick?, but they just keep crying, you'll do anything to make them stop.

In those first few weeks with Willow, we really struggled. She would cry and cry and cry, and of course now I know it's because she had difficulties with wind and she wasn't getting enough milk from me during each feed, but at the time we just thought we were stuck in hell, that this is what our lives were going to be like from now on. A screaming baby that couldn't be soothed, crying all day and night no matter what we did.

Real Techniques Bold Metals Collection

A picture of Real Techniques Bold Metals Collection

I remember when Real Techniques was first released and they exploded over the blogosphere. Everyone had at least one, the Core Collection was a blogger favourite and they quickly became the brush brand that everyone needed in their arsenal. Over the years I've built up quite the collection of Real Techniques brushes and to this day the original sets and individual brushes I bought all the way back in 2012, are still good as new.

Babymoov Lovenest Original

A picture of Babymoov Lovenest Original
Whether it's napping, laying in their prams, playing on play mats or sleeping in their cribs at night, babies spend a lot of time lay on their backs with their heads on flat surfaces. It's a good couple of months before babies can even sit up themselves unaided, something Willow is still a little while off of achieving herself, and unless you are physically holding your baby upright every moment they are awake, they will spend a lot of time on their backs with their heads down on a flat surface. For some babies, this familiar position can cause Plagiocephaly; flat-head syndrome

As today is Plagiocephaly Awareness Day, I wanted to share with you how we are ensuring that Willow doesn't end up with Plagiocephaly, and ways you can prevent your baby getting it too.

Own Your Social Media

TattooedTealady Twitter Account

I shared a post recently about controlling your online experience and following on from that I wanted to share some thoughts I have about social media, and the way it's getting a little out of control.

It seems like every month there is a new must have app that bloggers should be utilising to promote their content, apps to gain followers on, apps to draw in a bigger audience. With the ease of smart phones and tablets, keeping in touch on the go has never been easier and with social media well and truly at the forefront of everyone's mind, it's easy to get caught up in the competitiveness and pretty big expectations that come along with using social media.

toTs Joy Bunny Comforter

A picture of toTs Joy Bunny Comforter

One of the most exciting things as a new mama is seeing my daughter become more aware, interacting more and the massive leaps she makes with her development. One of the most recent developments she has made is being able to interact with things, such as toys, rattles, teddies. Whereas before she would just look at them, confused and curious, she now bats at hanging toys, grasps her teddies and snuggles anything soft. She is particularly fond of comforters and one she simply can't get enough of at the moment is the beautifully bright and adorably soft toTs Joy Bunny Comforter.

Lush Frozen Bath Bomb

A picture of Lush Frozen Bath Bomb
If you hadn't already guessed, I'm a bit of a Lush obsessive and one of my favourite products for a quick Lush fix is a bath bomb. The bath bomb range is never-ending and I have more than a few favourites, but over the past year I have really gone all out in making sure I try each of the new bath bombs to join the range, especially the ones which were once Oxford Street exclusives and are now available in-store nationwide as well as online.
