Back when I began writing Tattooed Tealady in 2012, Inika was one of the first brands I started sharing reviews of - rave reviews at that - having been introduced to them through beauty boxes, which they used to feature quite regularly in. Four years down the line they are still one of my favourite cruelty free brands for makeup and a brand I am still raving about to this day.

Being a huge fan of the Inika Mineral Foundation Powder, I was really excited to try out more base products from the brand in the form of the Inika Truly Organic Pure Primer and the Truly Organic Liquid Mineral Foundation with Hyaluronic Acid. Would I love this base combo as much as my beloved mineral powder?

I have to admit I was massively excited by the primer, because I don't think I have ever tried an organic primer before! It's been formulated to help you achieve the perfect even canvas for makeup application, with Hyaluronic Acid increasing the hydration in your skin as well as improving elasticity, ultimately prolonging the wearability of your foundation. Keeping oil at bay throughout the day by perfectly priming skin, it's certified organic, vegan, cruelty-free and Halal.

The primer itself is white in colour and consistency much like a light-weight cream moisturiser. Due to the consistency I like to very lightly massage onto the areas I need it, before tapping lightly to set it. It has a lovely plumping effect and massages to give my skin a slight youthful bounce, with a really lovely scent; almost like a subtle lemon sherbert. It actually works really well to make my skin look better on it's own even before I apply concealer/corrector and foundation, just generally making my skin look healthier and more youthful.

As a primer I think it works really well and I've teamed it with a few different foundations now including a variety of formulas including liquid, cream and powder bases, all of which it works wonderfully with. It's also fairly decent in size with a 50ml bottle costing £29.50. That said, this is the most expensive primer I've come across and although I love the way it looks and feels on my skin, as well as the way it works with my bases, for me it's a touch too pricey for a primer to warrant a repurchase.

The liquid mineral foundation is the first of it's kind that I have tried, having only tried loose mineral powders in the past. Like the primer it is certified organic, vegan, cruelty-free and Halal, and like the primer it features Hyaluronic Acid as well as natural antioxidants, Vitamins and Minerals. Formulated to have the benefits of a moisturiser and foundation in one, it helps to create a natural and buildable coverage without clogging pores, keeping any unwanted shine and oil at bay.

The coverage is very lovely; medium which can very quickly be built up to a more heavy coverage should you wish. It's slightly thicker in consistency than a lot of my liquid bases and has an almost liquid-to-powder finish. The finish is exceptionally natural and it feels very lightweight on my skin. I do think it wears very well throughout the day and I have had no issues with shine when wearing this base, but the finish on me is exceptionally matte, whereas it's described as a base which helps to illuminate skin - on me, it doesn't. That said the finish, which is definitely on the matte side of finishes, is very, very nice, and I don't experience any issues with it going cakey or patchy throughout the day. Like the primer this also comes in at £29.50, this time for a 30ml bottle.

Although not quite good enough to sway me from my beloved Bobbi Brown where bases are concerned, I am massively impressed with the formula, finish and longevity of both products. If you're revamping your beauty stash to feature just cruelty-free brands or you've been on the hunt for an organic alternative, then these really do make a beautiful duo and are well worth checking out.
