February Favourites 2016

29 February

A picture of the best beauty products

OK so February fly by a little quicker than I expected! But with 2016 being a leap year and today being that extra day we only get once every four years, it seemed like a good day to share this month's favourites.

As I settle into life with a newborn I'll admit that I expected my favourites this month to be few and far between, having little time to myself and having only worn makeup twice in 6 weeks. In fact, this month has given me a whole host of favourites covering all aspects of beauty and I'm more than a little bit excited to share them all with you!

My biggest love throughout February has been a skincare product and one that I actually really look forward to using each morning. Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream (125ml, £24) is a beautiful facial moisturiser that helps to reduce moisture loss, keeping skin softer, smoother and healthier. Since using this moisturiser each morning for the past few weeks I have noticed a massive difference in how soft my skin feels and overall my complexion looks fresher and clearer, which is just what I need with the minimal sleep I'm getting as a new mama! Plus, the tub is absolutely huge, so although £24 may be a lot to stretch for some budgets, 125ml is massive for a moisturiser and will last you months and months - it works out at just 20p per ml, not bad!

Another skincare product I've adored this month is the new Merumaya Gentle Exfoliating Toner* (128ml, £17.50), which I was super excited to try on it's release. I adore exfoliating toners and find them a much more manageable way to keep on top of facial exfoliation whilst also being a more gentle and effective way to exfoliate. I have a full review on this coming soon but for now let me tell you that this is easily as good as the more expensive exfoliating toners I have tried, super effective and a product I simply can't get enough of right now. Keep an eye out for my full review in March!

I've been using the Neal's Yard Remedies Detox Toning Oil (100ml, £15.50) on my tummy each day in the hopes that it will help rescue my skin post-baby. It can be used as a massage oil or daily as a general body oil, which is how I have been using it. With continued use it claims to banish toxins and improve skin tone, so here's hoping it works on my tummy! I really love the scent of this one though; Organic Lemon, Black Pepper and Frankincense Essential Oils, and like previous Neal's Yard body oils I've tried, it sinks into skin beautifully without leaving a greasy residue.

My hands have taken a battering since Willow arrived, washing them what feels like a million times a day. I've had to change the liquid hand soaps we have in our bathroom and kitchen as the more expensive Jo Malone one I was using destroyed my hands and completely dried them out. I've been slathering on hand creams every opportunity I get to try and repair some of the damage and one I've really enjoyed over the past week or so is Lush Love And Light Hand Cream (100g , £7.95, 220g, £13.95). It uses softening Neroli and Fair Trade Organic Cocoa Butter to moisturise and soften skin, with a really lovely and light scent of Brazilian Orange, Orange Blossom and Neroli. Scrumptious!

Last but not least and my saviour when I have had the chance to pop on some makeup over the past month or so, my very well loved Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Even Finish Compact Foundation (£33.50) which just leaves my skin looking so good! I love the way it applies, blending in effortlessly with a good buffing brush and providing a lovely even medium coverage. It's build-able too so a great base for anyone who prefers a higher coverage with their bases. I love compact bases and don't think they get enough credit, with the Bobbi Brown one easily being my favourite.

I'd love for you to share your February favourites with me, and if you have any favourite hydrating hand creams that you think I should try after Love And Light to pamper my hands, I'd love to hear your top recommendations!

    1. I tried the Pixi Glow Tonic years ago and didn't find it did anything for my skin, personally! I LOVE L'Occitane hand creams but the rate I'm going through them at the moment, it would cost me a small fortune to use them xo

    2. Pick up Dove DermaSpa goodness3 hand cream and Dove DermaSpa intensive hand cream at Boots! They are 3 pounds each at the moment!

    3. Thank you! I will definitely check them out. I've found switching to Lush solid soaps has massively helped instead of using liquid handwash xo
