& then we were three

There's someone I'd like to introduce you to...

On Tuesday January 26th at 4:04am my partner and I welcomed our beautiful baby girl into the world. I was admitted into hospital on Sunday January 24th to be induced at 41+5 weeks, a massive 12 days overdue, and after a long labour of 19 hours starting at 9am on Monday January 25th and ending in an emergency c-section, we finally got to meet our baby at exactly 42 weeks. I won't go into the process and labour now, as I'm sure I'll eventually share a 'birth story', but let's just say, it was worth every second.

Baby Willow weighed 8lbs 8ozs, smaller than I expected, with brown hair like her daddy and more than a few features of her mama. Just like I wanted, my partner was the one to tell me that we'd had a baby girl and my first hello was to utter her name. Willow's name had been picked a couple of years before we even decided to start a family, and those of you who know me well should be able to connect the dots... the Buffy obsession is strong!

It had been so hard keeping names quiet throughout our pregnancy but I never worried that it wouldn't 'fit' our baby if we had a girl, and it really is the perfect name for her. Willow means 'slender and graceful', and I'm sure she's more than likely to pick up a few Willow Rosenberg traits as the years go by. Everyone that meets her thinks the name fits her perfectly... but I still keep letting Gizmo slip out every now and then!

We've been home since 10pm on Wednesday January 27th and settling in to life as new parents with a baby we can't stop looking at. It's insane the way a baby will instantly change your life, from the moment you find out you're expecting and that love starts to blossom, to the moment you finally have your baby in your arms. The love is indescribable, more intense than anything I've ever felt in my life. I just can't stop looking at her, even with only 7 hours sleep since Sunday afternoon. This baby stuff is tiring! I'm so lucky that she's ours, our precious little girl.

That's all for now... but I wanted to let you know Willow had arrived safe and sound. We're both doing wonderfully and daddy is just as in love with her, it melts my heart to see the way he looks at her, even through those already tired eyes.

Thank you for all your support and well wishes, and make sure to keep an eye on Instagram for the inevitable baby spam.

Love,

Our little family xo
