Christmas at Chatsworth House

As soon as autumn begins and there is a flicker of the festive season ahead, one of my favourite things to do is take part in as many Christmas festivities as possible. It's just such a wonderful time of year to soak up the atmosphere, get that Christmas cheer going and get yourself feeling well and truly festive for the big day ahead.

Cities and venues all over the UK are gearing up for a busy December, with gorgeous Christmas markets taking over full of seasonal gifts for friends and family, and maybe even a little treat for yourself. In November I headed over to Chatsworth House, to see what their wonderfully festive Christmas Market had to offer, exploring the house and grounds whilst we were there.

Fisher Price Roarin’ Rainforest Jumperoo Review

Willow has always been a very active baby, from just a few weeks old she was interested in toys and rattles and could hold and play with toys herself from much earlier than we expected. With our downstairs living space being open plan, she has quite the play area to herself and we have everything from sensory toys from Lamaze to books, a ball pit and one of her most favourite toys, her Fisher Price Roarin’ Rainforest Jumperoo.

When we started looking into activity centres and walkers, we knew we wanted to go for a Jumperoo. Not only did I want to save my feet from being run over by Willow in a walker, but for us, the Jumperoo is a great space saver. It can be popped out whenever she wants to have a go, without chasing us around the house, and when not in use it folds away and slots in perfectly under our stairs. It can be quite big when put together, but we make sure that if the Jumperoo is out, other toys are tidied away so that we still have space to live as well as play.

Cosatto Noodle Supa Chopsticks Highchair Review

Cosatto Noodle Supa Chopsticks Highchair Review
When it comes to the big baby-buys, like car seats, pushchairs and highchairs, I really believe you should go with a brand that you trust and whose products you feel are safe for your baby, that will protect your baby when in use. Our babies safety is the most important thing to us and so when choosing which highchair to get for Willow, I knew Cosatto was the brand for us.

Our travel system, purchased excitedly before my 20 week scan, is a Cosatto Giggle 2 and still a fantastic investment that we are so happy we made. Cosatto has become our go-to brand for those essential baby-buys and the Cosatto Noodle Supa Highchair is just as brilliant and versatile as we hoped, ticking all of our boxes for the perfect highchair as we start our weaning journey.

Clarins Skin Boosters Review

Clarins Skin Boosters Review

Clarins has been one of my favourite skincare brands for as long as I can remember now and I have always loved the ever-evolving skincare range, with products that actually show a real benefit to my skin. The Instant Eye Makeup Remover is the ultimate eye makeup remover, never failing to remove every last trace of makeup. The Gentle Exfoliator Brightening Toner is my favourite toning lotion ever, incredibly effective yet very gentle on the skin, and the UV Plus Anti Pollution SPF is probably the best SPF I have ever used. That's just the skincare - we all know I'm a big fan of Clarins makeup too.

Brightening Up Our Home with Beards & Daisies

Beards & Daisies Review
As autumn gets into full swing, it can be difficult to wake up to dark skies and grey days, so having a gorgeously bright bouquet to brighten up our home is always welcome here. My love for fresh florals is no secret and I always have flowers around our home, and quite a few houseplants too.

For the past couple of weeks I have had a beautiful, bright, sunshine filled bouquet brighten up our dining table and everytime I come downstairs and see the gorgeous colours it fills our room with, it never fails to bring a smile to my face.

October 31st will mark Willow's very first Halloween. I adore Halloween, ever since I was a little girl I have loved the excitement in the run up to the last day of October and I've always enjoyed that buzz you get when the day finally arrives. I've been looking forward to this Halloween even more than previous years, because it's something I am hoping Willow will love as much as me.

8 Months Bolder

Over the past month I have watched my little baby gain so much independence and confidence in the world around her. It’s like she has suddenly blossomed into this more excitable, on-the-move, inquisitive little adventurer. Lush Shampoo Bars Review
It's been a while since I was loyal to any particular hair products, but in-between trialling new products for review, there's one brand that keeps me coming back for more. There are some beauty products which when formulated as a solid product, don't really hit the spot. One type of solid product I can't get enough off is the impressive range of Lush Shampoo Bars. I am completely converted; you need to add these to your must-try list.

The Perfect Sunday Brunch

La Belle Assiette Halima Ferreira Review

Sundays are my favourite, even more so now we have Willow. For me Sundays have always been about relaxing, enjoying the last few hours of the weekend and taking every opportunity I can to pamper and unwind. Before having Willow, that would have involved long luxurious baths, targeted face masques and a mini at-home manicure. Now? Our Sundays consist of watching movies from my childhood, reading Willow's favourite books and enjoying lots of delicious food together as a family.

Bread and Butter Pudding Recipe

Bread and Butter Pudding Recipe

If you're anything like me then you'll be getting cosy on your sofa every Wednesday at 8pm for the foreseeable future, as The Great British Bake Off takes spotlight on our screens. I love sitting down to watch each week's episode, seeing the creations they make throughout the show as well as learning a few tricks myself. I've always wanted to be this magnificent baker who can whip up posh cakes and treats with ease, but realistically my skills are better spent cooking and baking is something I am still trying to perfect.

Tonight's episode will follow the contestants as they compete through bread week, and with no time to whip up some crusty rolls or marvellous loafs, I decided to opt for something a lot easier, one of my all time favourite desserts. So if you're a fan of bread and butter pudding like me or simply want something to make that uses ingredients most of us have in our cupboards and fridge, this super simple recipe will have you tucking in in no time!

Making Chocolate with Chocolate Alchemy

Chocolate Alchemy Loughborough Review

Chocolate. Everyone's weakness. Whether you you enjoy a piece after a long day or have that treat bar after a busy week, chocolate is easily one of the tastiest little luxuries in life.

You may have noticed over the past few months that I've been showcasing some pretty special venues in my local town, Loughborough. An otherwise quiet town which doesn't look like anything special when you're driving through, it offers more than it's fair share of delicious restaurants and special little spots to stop for a break during a day of shopping. One of those places is Chocolate Alchemy, a luxury artisan chocolatier which creates all of the delicious products on site, with a downstairs cafe offering hot and cold drinks as well as tasty bakes, cakes and chocolate.

Luxury Changing Bags from Lucy and Belle

Swarovski Elements Changing Bag Review

Since having Willow my many handbags have been left neglected in the back of the wardrobe. When out and about it just isn't realistic for me to have more than one bag and I often find all I need for myself is my purse, my phone and my keys, all of which can easily be popped inside a changing bag.

I do miss having a handbag with me though, and so when I came across the gorgeous collection of luxury changing bags available over at Lucy and Belle, I was instantly drawn in by the gorgeous colour choices and beautiful designs which give you the option of having a changing bag and handbag all in one.

Rush Hair Salon Leicester

Rush Hair Salon Leicester Review

I've never been the most consistent at getting my hair cut. For years I did my own hair, determined as an ex-stylist myself that I didn't need to go to a salon when I could do it myself at home. That worked, for quite a long time too, purely because of the style I had at the time. Once I started trying to grow it longer and decided it was time to let my shaved-side grow out, things got a little trickier and for the past 18 months I have been getting my hair done more regularly. That said, since having Willow I simply haven't had the time, and so it had been 7 long months since I last had my hair pampered and preened.

It's safe to say I was overdue a visit to the salon, and with the new Rush Hair Salon opening in Leicester city centre, I headed over to see what the team could do to my postnatal hair.

The Bath Oil

Olverum Bath Oil Review

For me there is an instant feeling of luxury and extravagance when you sink into a bath that has had a splash of oil. It wasn't until my mid-20's that I realised how beautiful bath oils were, previously worrying that they would make baths slippery and I'd come out needing to jump straight back in the shower! In fact, bath oils are nothing like I imagined and now, years later, are one of my favourite bath products.

7 Months Gone By

With a house month in July and settling into a new little routine for all of us, it's been a month of big changes for the whole family, not just Willow. Yesterday (August 26th), Willow turned 7 months, and I can't believe how quickly her first year is flying by.

Choosing Baby Led Weaning

Baby Led Weaning

I think we can all agree that when you are pregnant, you spend a lot of time researching and Googling, trying to find out what you need, what labour will be like and all the big milestones your baby will reach. One of those milestones is starting to eat, no longer relying just on milk but instead delving into a world of tastes, flavours and textures.

When I was pregnant I simply assumed that we would wean Willow at 4 months, using pureed food, the same way I was weaned when I was a baby and many generations before me. I didn't realise there was even another way to introduce food to your baby and I had planned the equipment I would buy to make our own purees for Willow, I was actually quite excited about it. Then I came across Baby Led Weaning.

After looking into Baby Led Weaning, how it worked and ultimately, why it is recommended as the way to wean your baby, I knew it was for us. The idea of purees went completely out of the window and I was excited to try something which seems relatively new, although has actually been the recommended weaning approach for many years.
