New Skincare Favourites

Must-try skincare products for any budget
At the beginning of 2015 I made a very big change in the way I approached skincare. Skincare has been a huge passion of mine for several years now and something that has become even more important to me since starting this blog. Since starting Tattooed Tealady back in April 2012 I have learnt so much more about the world of skincare, from the different products you can use, ingredients to look out for as well as ones to avoid, as well as learning how to understand, treat and look after my skin, in a way that I truly believe would not have been possible without this blog and reading skincare reviews on other blogs, too.

It also meant that I was constantly switching up my skincare products, testing new brands and product releases for review here on the blog, always buying the latest must-have product hoping it'd be a skincare saviour for me like all the rave reviews. I'm extremely lucky that my skin has never had any issues with products, specific ingredients or constantly changing things up, but in 2015 I wanted to concentrate on specific routines. Keeping with the same products until they were completely used up before moving onto something new, working with my skins needs opposed to what took my fancy at the time. My skin has been so much happier for it since, and today I wanted to share some of my new favourite skincare products, products I've been using over the past few months which I am absolutely besotted with.
The potent Antipodes Worship Superfruit Antioxidant Serum
Antipodes Worship Superfruit Antioxidant Serum
Antipodes is a brand my skin gets on with really, really well. I find their products incredibly effective and for the past two months I have been using the Worship serum each morning. Utilising the antioxidant potency of New Zealand grown superfruit, Worship works to fortify cells against early signs of ageing whilst protecting skin from free radical damage. It has a subtle fruity scent, with Blackcurrant and Boysenberry, teamed with Vinanza Oxifend Plus, Kiwifruit, Vinanza Grape, Coffee Berry, Acai and essential fatty acid Alpha Lipoic Acid, which makes this one very powerful, potent antioxidant hero.

Like all serums and oils in the Antipodes range application is incredibly easy with the handy pipette. I dispense around 6 pea sized drops onto my face and neck, gently patting into my skin, after toner and before my oils and moisturiser. I think this serum has played a massive part in keeping my skin happy throughout my pregnancy and have found my skin looking healthier for it. It has just the right consistency that I look for in a serum, particularly for one used in the morning, working well on both makeup free days, and days where I decided to 'pop my face on'.

The de Mamiel Pregnancy Facial Oil is perfect for use during pregnancy
de Mamiel Pregnancy Facial Oil
de Mamiel is a new brand to me, with the Pregnancy Facial Oil being my first dabble into the brand, a first try which has left me pretty darn impressed if I'm honest. Facial oils are part of my daily morning and evening routine and easily the 'type' of skincare product which over the years has shown the most beneficial effects and positive changes to my skin. Over the past 3-4 weeks I have been using the de Mamiel Pregnancy Facial Oil both in the morning on makeup free days and each evening, a product I now find myself looking forward to applying it each day.

A calming and soothing blend of rare oils, it works to nurture, calm and balance skin through your pregnancy, a time where your body and skin goes through extreme changes both hormonally and physically. It has a very botanical feel to it, with a scent that I don't think would suit everyone's tastes, but a scent which is just what I love in a skincare product. The consistency is slightly thicker than most facial oils in my beauty stash, with a pipette applicator which is common to see with products of this type. I apply a few drops onto my fingers, pressing my hands together to lightly warm the oil, before pressing into my skin as advised. The scent is incredibly soothing and relaxing, my skin feels instantaneously calmer and my mood more serene. It's become quite the soothing ritual in my skincare routine. So happy with the way this makes my skin feel, I'm definitely intrigued by the de Mamiel range, with Restorative Cleansing Balm making it's way onto my to-try list.

Merumaya Integrative Effective Skincare Everything Everywhere Beauty Oil
I recently shared my thoughts on this in my Brand Spotlight post on Merumaya (read here), so I won't go into too much detail here, but I couldn't leave this beauty out. On days when I'm wearing makeup this is the oil I turn to, really loving the light-weight consistency and way it sinks beautifully into my skin. A multi-purpose oil, it can be used for a huge variety of beauty needs such as a cuticle oil, hair oil, overnight hand and foot treatment, a luxurious body oil and of course, a facial oil, which is my preferred method for utilising the moisturising and nourishing benefits of this beauty oil. Gently exfoliate skin with REN Wake Wonderful Night-Time Facial
FOREO Luna for Combination Skin
I'll keep this short and sweet as I have a full in-depth review of the FOREO Luna coming up in a few weeks time, but I had to mention it in today's post because I really do love this little beauty tool! If you've tried a cleansing brush before (think Clarisonic style), this is completely different. Not only in the way you use it, but the effects and benefits it has on your skin. There's several types, both specific to certain needs as well as skin types, and I've been using the blue one which is specifically for combination skin. Not only does it work to remove makeup, dirt and impurities, but it has an anti-ageing aspect by helping to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Keep your eyes peeled for my full review!

REN Wake Wonderful Night-Time Facial
REN is such a wonderful brand and I find myself smitten with all their products, as the benefits to my skin are always seen very quickly, thanks to the super effective ingredients and formulas of their products. The latest REN product to join my evening routine is from my favourite REN range; the Radiance range features products which effortlessly revitalises my skin, giving my skin a more radiant, healthy and naturally glowing look.

Wake Wonderful Night-Time Facial is a transforming treatment that you pop on 2-3 times a week that has a lightly fruity scent and a fairly thick consistency, sort of inbetween a serum and a mask - but don't worry, it sinks into skin quickly and feels weightless, with no sticky or greasy residue to contend with. I apply 2 pumps to my face and neck, directly before my night time moisturiser, leaving it to work it's magic. With a unique complex blend of active ingredients, it provides a 3-phase treatment which gently renews skin and boosts skin cell vitality, all whilst adding a much needed moisture boost, plumping skin. Glyocolic and Lactic Acids from Yeast, Pineapple and Passion Fruit work to refine and brighten skin tone, whilst Tocotrienols from Cranberry Seed Oil help to prevent and reduce UV damage, with Omega 3 from Arctic Blackcurrant Seed Oil repairs and soothes alongside Sodium Lactate from Yeast, which moisturises and plumps.

It's very gently on the skin for how effective it is, and each morning after use I find my skin is incredibly softer, plump to the touch and revitalised, even on little sleep the night before! Another favourite from the Radiance range; definitely a range to check out if you want to find ways to gently and effectively treat your skin.

Smooth and firm skin with Temple Spa Exalt Firming Neck Gel
Temple Spa Exalt Firming Neck Gel
Temple Spa products have always intrigued me, but it's only recently I've started to explore the range for myself. Having finished my long-time favourite neck cream a few months back, having stuck with Clarins for a couple of years now, it was the perfect time to give another brand a try. The Temple Spa Exalt Firming Neck Gel has been a wonderful alternative, making me fall in love after just a few uses and another product which has become such an lovely step in my routine both morning and night, that I look forward to applying it each day.

The consistency is quite a luxurious thick gel but it sinks into skin fairly quickly and easily. I've been applying morning and night to both my neck and decolletage, and continued use has seen wonderful benefits; my skin feels softer, firmer and smoother to the touch. Using natural ingredients, it aims to improve the texture and smoothness of skin whilst adding some deep hydration all teamed with anti-ageing properties. It has a lovely subtle scent, it reminds me of the products my grandmother used to use, very soft and gentle, using Mediterranean Botanicals and a touch of Rose Essential Oil. It's made a lovely alternative to my old favourite and one I would happily repurchase; it's also left me very curious about Bosom Pal Anti-Ageing Bust Firming & Breast Lifting Cream.

Rejuvenate and renew with Ole Henriksen Invigorating Night Creme

Ole Henriksen Invigorating Night Creme
Last but not least and a product that from first use actually 'wowed' me and has been one of the most impressive night creams I have ever tried. My first dabble into Ole Henriksen products, I am head over heels for this incredibly effective night cream. A re-texturising, renewing and regenerative night time moisturiser, it works to both balance and brighten skin with it's youth-enhancing formula. There's Alpha Hydroxy Complex with Glycolic, Lactic and Fruit Acids that together work to deeply penetrate the epidermis layer of our skin, encouraging cell renewal which in turn leaves skin smoother and brighter. Add to that Bilberry, Sugar Cane, Sugar Maple, Orange and Lemon, and you have a gently exfoliating complex that breaks down dead skin cells, revealing a renewed, softer and hydrated complexion. Shea Butter and Vitamin C finish things off perfectly, adding a comforting, moisturising and collagen boosting touch.

I've been using this every night, except for nights where I use intense exfoliating treatments such as Alpha H Liquid Gold, when I tend to avoid using too many exfoliating products in one go. The scent is one I have quickly become addicted to. It's soft and subtle, one which as soon as I opened the pot makes me feel calm and relaxed. It's the most perfect scent for winding down to, so a great choice for a night time moisturiser. The consistency is just the right for a moisturiser; not too thin, not too thick, it sinks into skin well and feels instantaneously soothing once applied. Continued used over the past few weeks has left my skin so much softer and smoother by morning, my overall complexion is brighter and clearer and my skin looks overall much, much healthier.
