A Lush Yog Nog Soap review

Popping along to the Nottingham Lush store is definitely one of my favourite things to do and on Friday evening I had the pleasure of heading over for their latest blogger evening, showcasing all the latest product releases. Oh yes, it's that time of year again - the Halloween and Christmas releases have been rolled out and Lush are making it totally acceptable to start planning for Christmas (which is only 68 days away, by the way!)

The Halloween and Christmas releases always go down well with Lush fans new and old, but what's brilliant about this year's releases is the sheer variety of products featured in the limited edition collections. There are of course some of the usual best-sellers you'll be used to seeing, but the collections have had a shake-up with some incredible new products being included and featuring ranges which previously wouldn't have featured in these special once-a-year collections. A couple of the yearly usual culprits have done a disappearing act, but the products which have taken their place are so deserving, and guaranteed to get all Lush fans excited and addicted as ever!

The Halloween Collection is a lovely modest selection of products which will only be sticking around for a few weeks, so you better be sure to snap them up quick if anything catches your eye. Available both in-store as well as online, the collection features some old favourites and some beautiful new formulations that are sure to make your Halloween spooktastically fun!

The new addition to this years Halloween Collection is the Lord of Misrule Shower Cream (£4.95 - £27.95) which is available in four sizes; 100g, 250g, 500g and 1kg bottles. As I mentioned back in August in my New Launches + Summer Collection post, the Shower Cream range is a newbie and differs very slightly to the original Shower Gel range, basically by being more moisturising with a more softening and hydrating formula. Lord of Misrule is a very popular scent with Lush fans, one you'll be used to if you're a fan of the Halloween favourite Lord of Misrule Bath Bomb (£3.95), with an earthy and herbal blend of Patchouli, Peppercorn and Black Pepper with a twist of sweetness from Fair Trade Vanilla. This is going to be one hell of a popular product and I may have to snap up a bottle myself before it disappears for another year!

The usual Halloween favourites include the Lord of Misrule Bath Bomb, which I couldn't resist snapping up on the night, which I can't wait to use later tonight as a pampering treat. There's one of my old favourites, the Sparkly Pumpkin Bubble Bar (£3.65) which turns your bath into a beautiful yellow gold sparkly display with scents of Juniperberry, Lime and Grapefruit for a dose of warming zesty sparkle. A product which is super fun and perfect for Halloween is the Nightwing Shower Jelly (£3.95) which is a gorgeous dark purple black jelly in the shape of a bat, very Halloween-y! It has a delicious fruity scent, created to smell exactly like a fruit pastille, with Aloe Vera, Lime Juice Jelly and sweet Carrageenan. Nightwing is going to be particularly perfect for all the younger Lush fans out there! Last but not least the Halloween collection includes a Halloween themed gift set, also designed to look like a huge bat, in the form of Heebie Jeebie Bat Gift Set (£9.95) which includes a 100ml Lord of Misrule Shower Gel and Nightwing Shower Jelly.

The Christmas collection is amazing this year and it's literally impossible to resist the fun, quirky and stand-out products on offer. I picked up quite a few products on the night but let me tell you now, I will definitely going back for more! The products are just far too lovely to resist this year, both old favourites and the new additions. This Lush fan is very happy with the selection on offer this year and it's definitely left me excited for Christmas and ready to start counting down the days until Christmas morning.

Some of my favourites from this year's collection include an old favourite, Butterbear Bath Bomb (£1.95) which I picked up a couple of on the night (and will definitely be stocking up on more before they disappear), which is a lovely Vanilla scented bear shaped bath bomb with Fair Trade Cocoa Butter, utterly heavenly and very, very moisturising. There's the yearly favourite Golden Wonder Bath Bomb (£3.95) which is always a winner with an exciting colourful display hidden inside a golden lustre covered present. Holly GoLightly Bubble Bar (£4.95) is also back for another year and another favourite of mine for the magical display and enticing scent. There's spicy Cinammon Leaf, Patchouli Essential Oil and Clove Leaf Oil all mixed with organic Illipe Butter to give it a softening touch. This is an absolutely huge bubble bar, too, and I usually manage to get 3-4 uses out of it.

The much loved Yog Nog Soap (£3.50) is back for another year, which is one of the most deliciously scented soaps you'll find in Lush. Super moisturising and softening, it's been formulated with Soya Yoghurt, a touch of spicy Clove Bud, Ylang Ylang, lovely moisturising Fair Trade Cocoa Butter and stimulating Nutmeg. For those of you who love Yog Nog you'll be very, very happy to know that this delicious scent has been turned into a pampering Yog Nog Bath Bomb (£3.95) which I couldn't resist buying on the night, and I suspect I might need to buy a few more before the year is through. Just as pretty in design as the soap, it uses spicy Clove Bud Oil to stimulate senses, whilst Soya Milk Powder and organic Shea Butter add a creamy, comforting touch, with golden lustre and a 'bath melt' aspect that'll leave skin moisturised. Oh gosh it smells so good, I think this could go down as one of my favourite Lush bath bombs ever

A couple of new products that I'm really excited by for Christmas this year include the absolutely stunning and very Christmas themed The Magic of Christmas Reusable Bubble Bar (£5.95) which is so perfect for Christmas, I almost bought one purely to pop on my Christmas tree! A magical golden star topped on a warming Cinnamon Stick, it has a very Christmassy scent with Cinnamon Leaf, Almond Essential Oil, Sweet Orange Oil and Fair Trade Organic Clove. It looks and smells amazing, the only reason I resisted this one myself is because I'm far too lazy for reusable bars and I'm yet to actually use one! Maybe this could change my mind on reusable bubble bars before Christmas is over? We shall see! Another exciting new bubble-creating release is the very pretty and unusually designed Five Gold Rings Bubble Bar (£4.95) which comes presented as five separate gold rings on a red paper rope. With Fair Trade Vanilla, softening Illipe Butter and uplifting Moringa Oil, I can see Five Gold Rings being quite the popular bath time treat this Christmas.

I'm a big fan of Lush Body Conditioners, a range which is home to only two products/scents and one which personally I'd love to see expanded. As if answering my prayers, Lush have created a limited edition Christmas product in the form of Christingle Body Conditioner (£16.50); a stimulating body conditioner with Peppermint and Menthol Crystals, invigorating Spearmint and Grapefruit Oils alongside Murumuru Butter. It smells amazing and I got to try this on the night - it left my skin feeling very soft and very hydrated. Another range which has sneaked into the Christmas collection this year is my ever-favourite Fresh Face Mask range, with the Christmas themed edition of the Cranberry Festive Fresh Face Mask (£6.75) which I plan on picking up the next time I am in-store. A nourishing mask which teams antioxidant Cranberries with cleansing Fennel Seed, moisturising Argan Oil and Rose Clay to keep skin matte. Definitely need to give this beauty a try!

The Christmas gift sets certainly don't disappoint this year with a total of 45 incredible gift sets that are amazingly presented and filled with a gorgeous array of Christmas themed products. I have my eye on The 12 Days of Christmas (£49.95) and Butterbear (£14.95) in particular, if Santa is reading! The gift sets this year range in price from the very affordable £4.50 to the more extravagant £155.00, with each gift set to steal the show on Christmas Day.

If I mentioned every new Christmas product and gift set we would be here for days, so make sure you pop in-store or check out the new releases online at for all the newest limited edition products. Let me know if you make any Halloween and Christmas themed purchases and what you're favourite product is, whether an old favourite or brand new for 2015!

Big thank you once again to the wonderful team at Lush Nottingham, who as always made me feel incredibly welcome and were full to the brim of Lush knowledge, as passionate as ever about new releases and product ranges.
