The Vegan Kind | September 2015

30 Sept 2015

Before September is over (wow this year is flying by!) it's time to share my thoughts on the September The Vegan Kind box, and boy is it a good'un. This month the box was filled with delicious treats as well as a beauty product which has come at the perfect time for me - another impressive box that has surpassed my expectations, as is always the way with TVK.

For those of you new to TVK they are a monthly lifestyle subscription service for vegans, featuring exclusively vegan-friendly brands and products. Each month the contents varies, with all subscribers receiving the same products which can include food and drinks, household essentials, beauty products and little lifestyle extras. Costing just £10 a month and shipping worldwide, TVK boxes are our favourite to pop through the door each month and if a vegan-friendly box couldn't get any better, they also have a fantastic charity aspect where donations from each box sold go to animal charities voted for by TVK subscribers! You can find out more about The Vegan Kind here. Let's get stuck in to the September box shall we?

The first thing I noticed was the beauty product featured inside this month's box, which happened to come at the perfect time! I've recently found myself, for the first time in my life, with a lot of conditioner and all out of shampoo. Usually I'm really good at using up shampoo and conditioner at the same time, but because I've been using more post-shower treatments and in-shower masks, my conditioners have started to build up. I was on the hunt for a gentle and kind shampoo to use alongside the conditioners and really struggled when looking in my local Boots recently. TVK September box includes a huge 400ml Faith in Nature Coconut Shampoo (£5.50) which I started using over the weekend and is absolutely lovely!

A best-selling shampoo, it has a fairly thick consistency for a shampoo but doesn't weigh down my naturally fine hair. It's best suited for normal to dry hair types, but I've found it works absolutely fine with my hair which is fine and oily. The coconut scent is very subtle but also very soothing and I love using it at night particularly when I find it quite relaxing! I'm pretty impressed with this shampoo so far, I think it might even get a spot in next month's favourites!

Drinks wise the September box features a Iced TG Green Tea (£1.39 - £1.69) which I haven't yet tried, but have popped in the fridge ready for when it takes my fancy. I'm not the biggest fan of green tea, I have to admit, but I'm hoping this one will go down nicely.

One of the first things I tucked into from the September box was a packet of Nothing But. Strawberry and Banana Snack (£1.25) which made such a lovely snack treat. Nothing But. have featured in previous boxes and I really, really liked them, I just wish there was more in each packet, as 10g isn't a lot when you think about it. The strawberry and banana pieces were delish though and I reluctantly shared them with my partner, who really took a liking to the strawberries in particular.

There's a lot of delicious treats inside the September box and me and my partner really enjoyed tucking into all the vegan treats. As I've said before in TVK reviews, although we're not personally vegans, it's always a pleasure to try the treats inside the monthly boxes and we are always amazed at how delicious everything tastes.

The Nom Salted Maple Popcorn (£1.49) was perfect for tucking into whilst binge-watching the latest season of Orphan Black. Unlike a lot of ready-made popcorns you might buy, I found Nom Popcorn to be a lot more subtle in flavour which I actually prefer. You could just get a hint of Salted Maple without it being too sickly and the popcorn itself was light and fluffy, popped to perfection!

Something I wasn't overly keen on myself but my partner loved and devoured in minutes was the inSpiral Smokin' Coconut Pecks (99p). Air dried coconut chips which have been seasoned with a generous helping of smoked paprika and a touch of lime, giving them a smoky flavour.

Another brand which has featured in previous boxes and I've become quite fond of seeing in the monthly boxes is Creative Nature with the September box featuring a bar of Heavenly Cacao (£1), which was exactly that, heavenly! A mix of Cacao Powder, Cacao Nibs, Oats and Goji Berries among other lovely dried fruits, it was a delicious treat that I instantly wanted more of! Sweet, slightly chewy, very tasty and it hit the sweet spot easily whilst not being too naughty ingredients wise. Now that I'm pregnant I find that although I still prefer savoury over sweet, my sweet tooth has definitely picked up pace and this was the perfect afternoon treat with a cuppa when I was trying to resist the biscuit tin. I really like Creative Nature and I need to get on a big order so that I've got a variety of the different bars in for when my sweet tooth strikes in future!

Talking of sweet tooths... Let's talk about the scrumptious Designed2Eat Fudge Brownie (£2.25) which is quite possibly the tastiest brownie I have ever had in my life! It was heavenly chocolate goodness with a definite taste of fudge made with paleo and more tasty than any brownie I've come across before that's packed full of unnecessary and unhealthy ingredients; Designed2Eat use a super select amount of ingredients with no additives to create this fudge brownie. Honestly, can I just eat one of these every day please? Tastiest treat from the September box by far.

Another month, another tasty box and more vegan-friendly brands for us to add to the tasty treats list. If you fancy finding out more about The Vegan Kind and subscribing yourself, you can find out all you need to know over on! Each box costs £10 a month plus post and packaging, available to ship worldwide.
