Celebrating 5 Years of Birchbox with the September 2015 Birchbox UK Birthday Birchday Box
It's that time of the month where I share my thoughts on this month's Birchbox UK box - but the September box isn't just any old beauty box. September marks 5 whole years since Birchbox began, a 5th Birchday box, beautifully designed and filled with amazing products and brands to celebrate not only 5 years of Birchbox, but the fact that Birchbox is the oldest beauty subscription box service available! For those of you who didn't know, Birchbox were the very first beauty subscription service to start and since their journey began in America in 2010, they have launched in France, Spain, right here in the UK, and most recently in Canada and Belgium. With over 1 million Birchbox subscribers worldwide, it's definitely a Birchday to celebrate!

A rosy pink Laqa & Co Cheeky Lip Pencil in Humble Brag

The new Benefit The POREfessional License to Blot oil-blotting primer stick
To celebrate 5 amazing years of Birchbox boxes, starting out in the USA, all of the products featured inside this celebratory September box are from brands which started out in America.

Representing New York City we have a sample of bliss Foot Patrol (75ml, £18.50) which is perfect for me with my pregnancy aches and sore feet after a long day! Foot Patrol is an exfoliation, cooling and conditioning treatment which is quick and easy to use; just massage onto the soles of your feet before bed to help reveal softer, happier feet by morning! No rinsing, I hear you ask? That's not necessary with the bliss Foot Patrol, as opposed to manual exfoliators this uses Salicylic Acid to exfoliate, just like your favourite exfoliating toners and treatments.

All the way from Brooklyn we have a lovely sample size of the Laqa & Co Cheeky Lip Pencil (£16.75) in a perfect rosy pink shade, Humble Brag. A multi-tasker, this Cheeky Lip Pencil can be used to add colour to both cheeks and lips and has a lovely matte finish that is easy to blend if you opt for the cheeks, but can be built up for a more intense shade if you prefer to use it on the lips. Humble Brag is such a pretty shade and one which would work well all year round. Using a lighter or brighter pink gives it a more vibrant look perfect for summer, whereas using a more deep, warm mauve pink liner gives it more depth for the upcoming winter months.

Another product from New York City is a sample size of the John Masters Organics Citrus Neroli Detangler (250ml, £16) - which is also available in an unscented version for those who prefer to stray away from scented products. Promising to banish knots and tangles, it uses Coconut Oil and Wheat Amino Acids to nourish hair whilst Neroli and Grapefruit soothe your scalp. Best applied to damp hair, you can leave it on as a leave in conditioner or rinse it out after 2-3 minutes!

From Seattle we have a product which has really intrigued me in the September box, a sample of Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2& BHA Liquid Exfoliant (118ml, £23.50). Personally, I absolutely adore liquid facial exfoliants and I've put this to one side to use after I've had the baby, although it is worth noting both the Birchbox and Paula's Choice websites do not state it is not appropriate for use during pregnancy, I'm just being overly cautious. Promising to minimise the appearance of pores with a 2% Salicylic Acid, it works to remove old dead skin cells, unclogging and diminishing enlarged pores leaving radiant, more even-toned skin. It also promises to reduce redness and build collagen, with it's 100% fragrance and colourant-free formula.

From a City which is on my bucket-list to visit, we have San Francisco with a sample of the new Benefit The POREfessional License to Blot. I really like Benefit primers so I have been a little bit curious about the latest product to join the POREfessional family. Promising to help tackle those shiny t-zones, License to Blot is an oil-blotting stick which contains tiny blotting spheres which work to mattify shine for up to 6 hours. I'm looking forward to putting this one to the test!

Last but not least we have the September Beauty Bonus and a Birchbox exclusive no less, with The Birchbrush (£5.99). Perfectly sized for popping in your handbag on the go, think Tangle Teezer and you'll get the idea of this tangle-tamer.

Overall a fantastic September box from Birchbox and a great way to celebrate the 5th year of Birchbox worldwide! I'm most excited by the Paula's choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant and I can't wait to put the new Benefit License to Blot to the test! If you've received the September Birchbox I'd love to hear what you're favourite products inside the box are, and don't forget you can order the full size of all your favourites over on the Birchbox website and e-shop! I can't wait to see what the October box has in store - here's hoping for an autumnal theme!
