The unspoken blogging rules everyone's talking about

22 May 2015

I've wanted to share this post for quite some time now, but knowing how to word things and get my point across in the right way has been quite difficult! Grab a cuppa, because this is going to be a long one...

Benefit Do The Hoola Beyond Bronze Kit

21 May 2015

A picture of Benefit Do The Hoola Beyond Bronze Kit
It seems like Benefit are constantly releasing new products, one of the few brands I know of that work tirelessly to always be at the forefront of new and innovative releases. Coupled with their stand-out packaging and unique media campaigns, Benefit are easily one of the most fun and exciting brands out there. I'm not always the biggest fan of their new releases, some have been a little hit and miss with me over the years, but the new Benefit Do The Hoola Beyond Bronze Kit is quite possibly one of my favourite releases yet!

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blushes, worth the hype?

18 May 2015

I remember the first time I got my hands on a Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush, and how my eyes lit up and it was like love at first sight. I didn't even need to take them out of their packaging and swatch them to know I was besotted.

Sleek Fandango Purple Matte Me Lip Cream

17 May 2015

A picture of Sleek Fandango Purple Matte Me Ultra Smooth Matte Lip Cream

I remember when Sleek released their Matte Me range and a ton of bloggers I follow were reviewing them. At the time they really caught my eye, but I was in a bit of a 'high-end is best' frame of mind and didn't consider actually giving them a try myself. For a long time I'd completely forgotten about them, until tons of you, both in comments on the blog and Instagram comments, started recommending them to me as a good budget-friendly option for a liquid lipstick.

Mental Health Awareness Week | Part 2

14 May 2015

It's time for part two of my little series for Mental Health Awareness Week, a two part series where I have given 6 strong, inspiring and brave bloggers the space here on Tattooed Tealady to share their experiences with mental health in honour of Mental Health Awareness Week. An important week which helps raise awareness of mental health, those who suffer with mental health disorders and the stigma which surrounds it. You can catch up with part one here.

Balm cleansers for all budgets

A picture of Lyonsleaf Natural Beauty Balm
I love cleansing. Every morning and every night, it's one of the things I look forward to the most. Taking a couple of minutes out of my day to pamper, massage and cleanse my skin, I love how refreshed and revived cleansing makes my skin feel. Formula wise balm cleansers are probably my favourite; there's something about balm cleansers which just leaves my skin looking and feeling so much happier and healthier, not forgetting softer to the touch. Whatever your budget, there's a balm cleanser for you - and these are my absolute top favourite four!

Mental Health Awareness Week | Part One

12 May 2015

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week, a week where anyone and everyone can help raise awareness of mental health. The 15th Mental Health Awareness Week, which originally started back in 2000, it is a week where public knowledge can be increased, creating debates around mental health, opening up the discussion for positive progression and ultimately helping to reduce the stigma by educating others on mental health. This year the theme for Mental Health Awareness Week is mindfulness. To find out more about Mental Health Awareness Week and why mindfulness has been chosen as this year's theme, head over to the Mental Health Foundation website.

High-street dupes for MAC eyeshadows

11 May 2015

A picture of MAC Coppering and The Body Shop Golden Cinnamon
MAC, whether you love them or hate them they are easily one of the most world renowned makeup brands that both makeup artists and makeup novices alike turn to for the perfect variety of finishes with endless shade ranges. Over the past few years I've built up a 15 pan eyeshadow palette as well as two 4 pan eyeshadow palettes, full to the brim with shades I am absolutely smitten with. But at £10 each per shadow, not forgetting the cost of the palettes themselves, building a MAC palette big or small can be a very costly process. Today I'm going to share with you some high-street dupes for some of my favourite and most used MAC eyeshadows, budget-friendly options that won't break the bank.

Top 10 makeup products under £10

A picture of the top 10 makeup products under £10
I've really fallen in love with high-street makeup again recently, mostly spurred on by my recent high-street beauty haul which I shared last weekend (see here). Back in March I shared my thoughts on the divide between high-street and high-end makeup, discussing whether one really was better than the other, sharing the products I think each price-bracket does best (see here). Today I wanted to share with you some of my favourite high-street products, all under £10, that show the high-street does makeup just as well as high-end.

When you have fine hair, styling it how you'd like can be quite the challenge. I'm always wishing I had longer, thicker, fuller hair that I could style to look like some luxurious beauty with hair that'll leave others filled with envy. Realistically, it's me who has hair envy, every single day.

When I think back over the years of my makeup obsession, there's one product which stands out the most as my ultimate favourite, a product I was and still am completely obsessed with. Bronzer has always been one of the products which gives me the most confidence, and well before I got the guts to brave blusher (which I've only been using for the past 3 years), bronzer was my go-to product.

Finished Reading | April 2015

A picture of The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion
April was a slow month for me reading wise. I don't know why but I just wasn't as into reading every single day as I usually am - I think it was mainly down to a lot of late nights and being too tired to read more than a page or two at a time, but having done so well so far in 2015 in my personal reading challenge over on Goodreads, the less I read the more disheartened I became. At the end of April my reading speed picked up again and it's safe to say that now May is here, I've well and truly got the reading bug again! It's time to share my thoughts and reviews of the books I read in April.

Should you be trying Lush massage bars?

5 May 2015

A picture of Lush massage bars
There's few things which make my mind and body feel as happy as a good massage. I put off having massages for years, paranoid that a big girl like me shouldn't get her body out for anyone let alone for someone to give me a massage! Over the past couple of years my body insecurities have lessened and I've had the pleasure of experiencing a few massages, all of which have left me feeling so incredibly serene, with a body that's left feeling brand new. There's something very special about massages that few other things can compare to (yes, even the most perfect pampering bath!), but they can also be incredibly expensive and so they're not something I indulge in regularly.

High-street beauty haul

A picture of Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish in Love This Sweater
Since I finished Uni my splurge shopping trips in London have completely stopped. This is a good thing for my bank balance, but it also means I very rarely buy makeup anymore other than the odd thing here or there - there's not many shops where I live and the ones we do have don't have the biggest selection of brands.

MAC Lipsticks for Spring

A picture of MAC lipsticks
Top Row L-R: Costa Chic, Pink Plaid, Vegas Volt, Snob
Bottom Row L-R: Saigon Summer, Chatterbox, Up The Amp
When it comes to spring one of the things I change the most is my lipstick. I think it's safe to say most face and eye products can be worn pretty much all year round, despite the stereotypical shades of each season, but it's much harder to pull off a warm and vampy berry shade in the height of summer, just as it's harder to pull off spring appropriate pinks and peaches in winter.

KIKO Modern Tribes Summer 2015 Collection

A picture of KIKO Modern Tribes Free Spirit Lips & Cheeks Lipstick and Blush Pencil in 01 Hearty Peach and 05 Unique Camellia
I'm a sucker for limited edition collections and there's few things I love more than when brands bring out seasonal collections of products and shades perfect for enhancing your features and creating looks that perfectly fit that time of year. The majority of brands who do release seasonal collections are high-end and premium, which can make getting more than one or two products from the collection a very expensive splurge. One brand whose products are far more budget-friendly who does limited edition seasonal collections just as well as the high-end brands, is high-street brand KIKO.
