Three Daily Rituals

20 February

Skincare regime and body care aside, there's three things I do on a daily basis, my three daily rituals, that I couldn't be without.

Getting ready in the mornings I always like to indulge in body care and fragrances, particularly a body butter like the ones I raved about in yesterday's post 'An Ode to The Body Shop Body Butters' post. My body gets pampered everyday, but an area I neglected for years is my feet; only deciding they needed some TLC in the warmer months when the sandles came out. Now, looking after my feet is just as important and each morning and night before I get in bed, there's one crucial step to my body care routine I simply can't miss out.

I've tried a few feet-specific products over the years, but by far my favourite is the The Body Shop Hemp Foot Protector, 100ml £10, which has proven to be the most effective by a long shot! A luxuriously thick cream which has been specifically designed to target dry skin, it works to both soothe and hydrate whilst softening skin and conditioning nails and cuticles. It's star ingredient is Community Fair Trade Hemp, specifically the Finola variety of Hemp which has a rich and hydrating oil. Despite having a very, very thick formula, once massaged into skin it sinks in beautifully and effectively softens and hydrates skin both day and night.

Another morning and night ritual for me is taking care of my lips. There's nothing worse than dry, sore or cracked lips, especially in cold winter months. I like to do whatever I can to keep dry lips at bay and both morning and night I turn to two products to keep my skin soft, smooth and hydrated. Lush has a huge range of effective lip scrubs, £5.50 for a 25g pot of lip scrub goodness that lasts forever (I've never finished a full one!). I'm currently using The Kiss Lip Scrub from the Valentine's Day Collection (see here), morning and night followed by my current favourite lip balm.

I change up my lip balms every day but one I always go back to is the budget-friendly and incredibly effective Vichy Aqualia Thermal Lips Soothing and Repairing Balm, £3.25. With an ultra-protective formula that works to tackle dryness, with skin-loving ingredients of calming Thermal Spa Water, hydrating Glycerine, nourishing Shea Butter and antioxidant Vitamin E, it protects lips from free-radical damage whilst leaving skin softer, smoother, more supple and beautifully hydrated.

My biggest ritual - and one I make sure I do at least a handful of times a day - is pampering my hands, nails and cuticles. The skin on our hands is quicker to show the signs of ageing than anywhere else on our body, and with our hands used for everything and anything we do, they can quickly show the signs of wear and tear. Every couple of hours throughout the day I make sure to apply cuticle oil and a hand cream, keeping my hands soft, hydrated and nourished. My current favourite - and probably my favourite yet of all the cuticle products I've tried - is the Kernow Spa Nail & Cuticle Oil, 10ml £4.95, which I featured in my January favourites (see here). With a blend of natural Jojoba, Olive and Rice Bran oils, it effortlessly conditions and softens cuticles. It also helps in making my nails grow healthy and strong, and they seem to grow a lot quicker since using this wonderful little oil, too!

Followed by the Merumaya Hydrate & Protect Hand Cream*, 50ml £12.50, and my hands are left as soft and happy as my cuticles. A new product from Merumaya, the Hydrate & Protect Hand Cream is a luxuriously thick hand cream which absorbs into skin quickly and easily, working to moisturise, hydrate and protect skin with it's key ingredient, Hyularonic Acid. It has a lovely subtle scent and utilises a broad spectrum system of sun filters which guard skin against UVA/UVB damage.

  3. I always moisturize my face in the morning and before I go to bed. I also exfoliate my lips daily around this time of the year and of course apply lip balm a few times during the day. Great post! :)

    1. Thanks Kalina, really glad you enjoyed my post! Keep up the great rituals :) xo

  4. Two things I never do - look after my feet and look after cuticles. I now feel guilty after reading this post. I am going to dig out some foot cream and brave touching my feet tonight whilst thinking of you :D

How I did not have this blog on my Bloglovin feed until today completely blows my mind. How rude of me.

    1. Haha, I hope you're feet enjoyed the pamper! And thank you lovely <3 xo

  5. I'm so bad for neglecting my feet... I think I should buy a specific product like TBS one and make it one of my daily rituals! I couldn't be without my Lush lip scrub (I have Mint Julips) at the moment, lip balm alone just ain't cutting it xx

    1. In winter lip balm always struggles to do everything we need, a good lip scrub is a must for me! Let me know if you end up getting a specific product and how you get on with your new daily ritual xo
