Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay

A picture of Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay

Last year I expanded my high-end fragrance stash with two beauties from Jo Malone. Although very, very expensive, I adore the scents I have from Jo Malone and so I was pretty eager to explore more of the Jo Malone range.

The Blackberry & Bay scent range itself is pretty stunning; deep, tart Blackberry juice with the freshness of just-gathered Bay, it's vibrant, intoxicating and definitely addictive. It's beautiful, and I hope to add the cologne to my collection soon. In the meantime I've been trying out two of the body care products from the Blackberry & Bay range; the Blackberry & Bay Body & Hand Wash*, 250ml £28 and the Blackberry & Bay Body Crème*, 175ml £50.

I've been using the body and hand wash predominately as a body wash; I like layering scents so for me it seems more logical to use it as a body wash followed by the body crème. It creates a really luxurious lather and the scent is intensified under the steam of a hot shower, leaving my skin feeling cleansed and conditioned with a scent that lingers, although only for a little while.

The body crème has a slightly stronger scent with a luxurious crème formula that feels silky to the touch. With conditioning oils of Jojoba Seed, Cocoa Seed and Sweet Almond, it's been designed to help hydrate, nourish and protect skin whilst leaving the beautiful scent of Blackberry and Bay on your skin. I find when using this after the body wash, or even alone, the scent lingers pretty well, and I'm guessing layered with the cologne the scent would last even longer. That said, I'm slightly disappointed by the most important aspect of this body crème; how it makes my skin feel. Unless I have exfoliated directly before applying, I don't feel like this works very well to keep my skin moisturised and hydrated. If I've exfoliated the same day, my skin is definitely left feeling softer and smoother - but that's down to exfoliating, not to the body crème. I find the body crème itself seriously lacks in giving my skin the feel I look for in body care products, and for that reason alone, I won't be repurchasing the body crème once I've finished this one. It's a shame because I've started to become quite the big Jo Malone fan; but I really expected more from this one, especially considering the extremely expensive price tag.

Have you been disappointed by any Jo Malone products? Or perhaps you have some product/scent recommendations for me that you think I should try out? Let me know! And in the meantime, you can check out my thoughts on Jo Malone fragrances in my 'Jo Malone, worth the hype?' post, featuring my beloved Earl Grey & Cucumber and Wild Bluebell colognes.
