The autumn makeup look

I always look forward to autumn, makeup wise it's my favourite time of year to experiment. I love the pastels and brights of spring and summer, but with my darker complexion and dark hair, they don't always flatter my skin tone the way I'd like. Come the colder months of autumn and winter, I feel like I'm in my makeup element, braving warmer and deeper shades which suit my colouring much better than any bright pink lipstick or vivid blue eyeshadow do.

It's not very often I share my face 'on the blog', so you'll have to excuse the rookie error of not making the bed before taking an impromptu photo, but I've really been loving my makeup picks lately and I seem to be reaching for the same products to create the same look, almost everyday.

To disguise tired eyes I've been reaching for a new drugstore favourite, the Miss Sporty Concealer (£2.99), which is pretty much the coveted Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer at a smidgen less in price - the Miss Sporty offering is just a touch thinner in consistency. Using Medium to neutralise skin tone, followed by Light to brighten my under eye area, both apply and blend very easily and leaving me looking fresh eyed. The Bobbi Brown Long Wear Even Finish Compact Foundation (£33) has been my go-to for compact bases recently, a base that provides the perfect medium coverage. It matches my complexion perfectly, applies and blends effortlessly with incredible longevity, all whilst managing to keep oil at bay for most of the day (read full review here)

The Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer (£25) is perfect for a light contour. a cool toned matte bronzer which adds just the right amount of warmth (read full review here), whilst I'm turning to my beloved MAC MSF in Lust (unfortunately limited edition!) almost every single day to add a touch of warming highlight (read full review here).

For blush I've been trying out the new Benefit Majorette Cream-to-Powder Blush* (£23.50) both worn alone as well as teamed with other blushers. It has a lovely formula; soft and creamy to the touch, very easy to apply and blend, a perfect peachy pop of colour. I'm currently enjoying it the most teamed with Benefit Hervana (£23.50)* which is four gorgeous shades (a shell, a peach, a rose and a berry) swirled together which create a light, warming flush. I've a full review on both of these cheek flattering blushes on it's way very soon!

I've been getting more use out of one of my favourite autumn palettes (another limited edition one!), the KIKO Lounge Warm Tones Palette (read full review here). I get a lot of use out of all the lighter shades in the palette; the shell shade is perfect for over the lid, with the pink and golden shimmer shades working well as a pop of colour in the centre of the lid, with the deep  matte maroon blended through the crease. I'm loving brown liners recently so I've been using the Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Liner (£5.99) for the upper lash line, and Stila Oscar Fish Smudge Stick (£13) for the lower lash line. Mascara wise I just can't get enough of the Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde Mascara (£9.99) which I recently raved about (see here). For brows, now I'm back to my natural black hair, HD Brows Foxy Brow Kit (£25 - I have the old packaging) is perfect, using the cool toned brown with a touch of the deep black.

The darker days means I can finally wear my favourite dark lip products, without feeling entirely out of place. My favourite lip combo is back with the cold days, using MAC Nightmoth Lip Pencil (£12.50), which is a stunning deep plum, with Illamasqua Shard Lipstick (£18.50), a warming red violet that I absolutely adore.
