October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so I'm really happy to see Birchbox getting on board with their October box*, with a feminine pink theme, some gorgeous products and some really handy information on how to properly check yourself for early signs and symptoms. This isn't the first time Birchbox have got involved with charities - just last month they held a Coppafeel manithon, raising money and awareness for Breast Cancer Research. There's 7 products featured inside the October box; 6 beauty products alongside a lifestyle extra. As usual there's the postcard inserts included within the box, which this month focus on correctly and properly checking your breasts for early signs and symptoms, as well as how often you should check. There's also lots of fab product recommendations, tips for using products featured inside the box as well as a handy 14 day check list, to get you geared up and ready for the fast approaching festive season.

The first product to catch my eye was a pretty baby pink makeup bag, which had all the other products inside. Usually Birchbox use drawstring bags in their boxes, which are great for travelling, but I love receiving an actual makeup bag and it's the perfect size for popping in your handbag. All products featured inside the October box can be picked up on the Birchbox e-shop with free delivery.

Inside the makeup bag, there's quite a few exciting products. The product I'm excited the most about is the Pixi by Petra Shea Butter Lip Balm (4g, £8) in Ripe Raspberry. I am a complete sucker for lip balms (see here), so I'm always happy to add a new one to my stash, especially from a brand I've hardly tried before. A full sized product, it's packed with Shea Butter with a subtle raspberry colour that's super pretty with a neutral eye. It's a very firm balm, but feels super moisturising and hydrating when on.

Another product I'm excited about is the Shaveworks The Cool Fix (156ml, £11), which I received a 29ml sample. It's described as a genius cooling gel lotion which works to treat and prevent ingrown hairs, razor bumps and redness after hair removal. You apply generously to dry, cleansed skin and use morning and night until the irritation disappears. I hope this works - because if it does, I'll definitely be picking up the full size!

The Balance Me Cleanse & Smooth Face Balm (125ml, £20) is a product that I've used on and off for a couple of years now, and from one of my favourite skincare brands too! I received a 40ml sample size, which is also great for travelling as you'd get at least a few weeks of use. A natural nourishing cleanser, it uses exfoliating oatmeal powder working to smooth, refine and rejuvenate skin, suitable for all skin types, particularly oily skin types.

I've tried a few products from KMS California and they're a brand I really, really like. I received a 50ml sample of the KMS California FREE SHAPE Hot Flex Creme (150ml, £15.50) which has a lovely sweet scent with a light-weight cream formula. Perfect for curls, waves and frizz, you apply to towel-dried hair before blow-drying and styling. Looking forward to trying this out!

Last but not least for the beauty products, I received a 8ml sample of the Meaningful Beauty Glowing Serum (15ml, £30.95) which caught my eye because it has been joint created by Dr. Sebagh and Cindy Crawford. Suitable for use in the mornings and applied before moisturiser, it promises to provide radiance, whilst protecting and providing anti-ageing benefits. Intrigued to see how this serum fairs, especially as I'm hard to please where serums are concerned!

This month's lifestyle extra is actually pretty darn cool, a Birchbox Lipstick Pen (£2.50) which is going straight in my handbag!

I'm pretty happy with the October Birchbox. I thought the September box was good (see here), but didn't tick the usual boxes for me, whilst the October box has pulled Birchbox back up there as a box I really do love. I'll use every single product, and with a total box worth of £38.13 for a £10 box, I think Birchbox have done pretty well this month. Are you a fan of the October box?
