The stand-outs # 6

Vichy Dermablend Corrective Foundation Stick

Burberry Midnight Brown Sheer Eye Shadow & Kat Von D Tattoo Liner
A shadow I usually reserve for Autumn months, I have been adoring the simplicity of Burberry Midnight Brown Sheer Eye Shadow (Burberry, £22.50), the perfect wash of colour. Burberry eyeshadows have incredible formulas with luxurious buttery soft, almost velvet powders. Midnight brown is an everyday wearable shade that can be worn alone or spruced up with other shades for more impact, and I find it perfectly compliments my chocolate brown eyes.

When I first swatched the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner (Sephora, $18/£11.40) I wasn't overly impressed, but since ever since I first tried it, I haven't touched another liner; it's amazing! The shade is Trooper, a true deep black, with a superfine and flexible brush tip that is dense and so easy to apply. For those of you used to liquid liners, this will be heaven. For those who struggle, I think this is possibly one of the easiest liners to get used to and create precise, lashline tight liner; flicks are easy too! Doesn't budge, doesn't fade and doesn't smudge. Winner.

I've been pretty boring when it comes to bases through May, opting for how quick and easy it is to create a flawless finish with Vichy Dermablend Corrective Stick Foundation (FeelUnique*, £15) Although I don't really have areas which need 'correcting', I love this base for the coverage, the finish and the ease. It blends absolutely beautifully, with an almost velvet finish, and covers every last imperfection leaving my skin looking healthy, clear and flawless. Longevity? All day, easily, very rarely needing to touch up with powder. Amazing base, really big fan of this one.

Onto skincare and we have quite an array of products this month which have really piqued my interest and had me smitten. One in particular is the Bodhi & Birch Lime Blossom Protecting Hand Serum (BodhiandBirch*, £22), which deserves a full review so I'll keep it short and sweet here. Working to protect and nourish hands, one pump gives you a beautifully lime fragranced serum, which is enough to massage into both hands. Afterwards hands are left feeling soft, smooth and almost silky to the touch.

I never leave the house without primer, especially when it's as good as the ARK Anti-Ageing Skin Protector SPF30 Primer (ARK*, £36) which easily takes the beauty crown for the best primer I have ever used. I've actually been using this beauty for months now, one of those marvellous never-ending products, and I just can't recommend it enough. So good in fact, I've noticed I powder a lot less now, than I did before the ARK Primer came into my life. Looking for a new primer? This is the one.

Despite the grey skies this week, May has been pretty warm and I have been popping all of my Avene Thermale Spring Water Sprays (Escentual, £2.65) in the fridge each night, keeping me feeling refreshed all the next day. Perfect for popping in your handbag on the go, an absolute essential on the London Underground and for me, much better than any makeup setting or refreshing spray.

Pai has been a favourite brand of mine ever since I started this blog, and I've added another Pai product to the favourites list - the Pai Lotus and Orange Blossom BioAffinity Toner (BeingContent*, £30) Best suited to sensitive and dry skin types (although it's worked wonderfully with my oily/dehydrated skin), this heavenly scented toner contains unique pure 'living waters', which are extracted directly from the plant. There's two key ingredients; Orange Blossom Water which stimulates circulation and skin-cell regeneration, helping to promote a healthy, glowing complexion whilst toning and brightening the complexion, as well as improving the appearance of thread veins and scars. Lotus is another key ingredient, a powerful anti-oxidant that protects our skin from free-radical damage, whilst calming and soothing reactive skin. I use this morning and night as my first toner, spritzing into the palm of my hands before gently but firming patting onto my skin, and I love the effect it's had on my complexion.

One product I couldn't live without got a lot of use through May, an absolute miracle, skin saviour, one-of-a-kind serum, HealGel Intensive (SpaceNK*, £37.50) No matter what my skin woes are, this beauty fixes them up no problems. It's effective, it's powerful, yet gentle and soothing. The product that makes people compliment my skin more than any other, just couldn't be without this holy grail serum!

What stood out for you in May?
