Top 5 Beauty Products of 2013

I'm sure we will all hear this lots over the coming weeks, but where has the time gone? 2013 has flown by, yet it feels like yesterday I was deciding on my beauty favourites for 2012. I have a few posts coming up over the next fortnight, all about the products which stood out the most for me in 2013. But before I delve into those, I'm going to slowly ease you in with just five beauty products ranging across makeup, skincare, body care and hair care. This is my final 'Top 5' collaboration post with Shona over at Freshbeautyxox, a fun little series of posts I've really enjoyed collaborating with Shona on. Be sure to check out her post: 'Top 5 Beauty Products // Collab W/Tattooed Tealady'

Ben Nye Banana Luxury Powder: I couldn't resist adding the infamous Ben Nye Banana Powder in because it's one of my best beauty finds of 2013, completely spurred on by all the lovely American beauty YouTubers I watch. A finishing powder originally and most commonly used for pro-longing the longevity and vibrancy of makeup on stage. The perfect finishing touch to a base, I swish a teeny, tiny amount of this banana coloured powder to set my eyes and my T-zone. I couldn't live without this in my stash, and at an incredibly purse-friendly price; I've been using this for almost a full year, with hardly a dent to it. (And no, it doesn't smell like bananas!)

Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Even Finish Foundation: My second base in my Top 5 picks is my holy grail foundation, a 2013 find which has made my hunt for the perfect base draw to a close. For me nothing compares to the longevity, colour match, feel on the skin and blend-ability, of the Long-Wear Even Finish Foundation. It's incredible, the one foundation I can rely on no matter what the occasion, the one foundation which never lets me down, provides a perfect long-lasting base and even goes a little way towards keeping the oil at bay. A wonderful foundation, couldn't live without this!

Diptyque Philosykos Eau de Toilette: A scent, and a brand, I put off of dabbling in for a long time, because the hefty price-tag really put me off. And yet here I am, finishing 2013 with a scent from a brand I thought was out of my means, a scent which instantly reminds me of Cyprus, and a scent which invokes more memories than anything else I have ever experienced. Ever. Completely worth the hype and a truly delicious scent that I would never chose to live without.

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Eye: I very recently shared a full review (at last!) of this wonderful, miracle worker eye cream from Kiehl's. My favourite Kiehl's product and the only night time eye cream I could ever use, this little blue tube of wonder transforms my eyes in a way no other eye cream has ever managed and the incredibly soothing formula is my favourite part of my evening skincare routine at the end of a long day. I've never tried a product quite like it, I doubt anything will ever replace Midnight Recovery Eye as my night time eye cream!

VO5 Plump it Up Amplifying Blow Dry Lotion: When deciding on a hair care product to include as my Top 5 of 2013, I was stumped. There's so many I love, as with all areas of beauty, but one product kept jumping out at me for two reasons. The first; VO5 Plump it Up Amplifying Blow Dry Lotion is incredibly purse friendly, and the second being that the results are almost exact to that of it's higher-end counterpart, the Bumble and Bumble Thickening Hairspray. It's a purse-friendly way to try another variety of a cult hair care product, whilst still achieving beautiful results. I was a bit unsure before as to whether I'd repurchase the Thickening Hairspray or Plump it Up, if it came down to having to replace only one, and I'll be honest - I'd replace Plump it Up first!
