Real Techniques Duo-Fiber Collection

When Samantha Chapman announced there would be a new Real Techniques brush set, I think the hearts of every beauty blogger Worldwide fluttered. There is no denying that Real Techniques brushes are amazing quality at a fraction of the price of more high-end brushes and brands. With the Core Collection containing four brushes for just £21.99 and the Starter Set of eyeshadow brushes costing the same and being perfect for any makeup beginner to professional makeup artist, the Real Technique brushes are a hit! The newest collection to join the Real Techniques family is the Duo-Fiber Collection, which is limited edition and will be sold for one year only. Set to hit UK Boots stores on May 20th for £23.99 I expect this to be a set that sells out very quickly! Due to my utter impatience, I decided to order mine on May 1st when they were realised in America. Costing a third less than they will in the UK, I picked up the Duo-Fiber set with express delivery and was more than a little excited when they popped through my door today just two days later!

The Duo-Fiber set contains three brushes. The Duo-Fiber Face Brush, Duo-Fiber Contour Brush and the Duo-Fiber Eye Brush. With a very different colour theme to the original Real Techniques brushes, each of the brushes in the set is a black and white colour combination. Each brush has the tell-tale Real Techniques flat ended handle, which means you can stand these brushes up (if you so wish!) The handles are pretty smooth and slick, but there's enough grip there to hold them easily and firmly for makeup application. The Duo-Fiber brushes allow you to create build-able colour from light to dense, create soft layers and add texture. All Real Techniques brushes are synthetic and cruelty free!

Duo-Fiber Face Brush
The Duo-Fiber Face Brush is advertised as being for lightweight application and blending of face powder or pigments. This is a big brush! I used it this morning for all over light-bronzing as well as later using it to apply my blusher. The brush shape and size makes it great for adding an all over glow, but also perfect for adding just the right amount of blusher for a pop of colour to my cheeks. Although I no longer powder my entire face (thanks to my trusty Ben Nye Banana Powder), I would say this brush would also work fantastically well for all over powder.

Duo-Fiber Contour Brush
The Duo-Fiber Contour Brush is advertised as being great for controlled contouring and sculpting. I couldn't agree more! I used this in two ways like the face brush. First with a cream to powder product - my MAC Pro-Sculpting Creams - to contour my face. This brush worked amazingly well with the cream to powder product and I suspect it will work just as beautifully with cream blushes. I also used this brush with a straight powder bronzer, which it worked just as well with. Creating a soft but defined contour and adding a lovely natural glow to my face. I see this being the brush I use most from the set!

Duo-Fiber Eye Brush
The final brush in the collection is the Duo-Fiber Eye Brush, advertised as being a brush perfect for adding finishing touches to the eyes. From the feel of this brush I decided there was only really one thing I could use it for. Blending! So I swapped out my usual blending brush favourites, the Sigma E25 Blending brush and the MAC 217, and put this to work blending out my crease. This was a dream to use and blended out my crease perfectly, leaving my eye makeup with a flawless, beautifully blended and professional finish.

Overall, even though I've only used them once, I am a big, big, big fan of the Duo-Fiber Collection. I think the selection of brushes is just right, I love the different look to them in comparison to the original Real Techniques line up and oh my are they heavenly soft. The only thing missing from the set is the usual travel case which comes along with Real Techniques Collection sets. This set isn't exactly a necessity, but if you like your makeup brushes as much as I do then this would make the perfect addition to your collection! The Real Techniques Duo-Fiber Collection will be available from Boots from May 20th retailing for £23.99. You can also pick them up on iHerb where I got mine, however they are currently sold out.

Will you be picking up the Duo-Fiber Collection?
