Lush Buffy Body Butter Bar

I am a big, big fan of Lush. And one product which has always caught my eye, but also completely bemused me, is the Buffy solid body butter. Now, as a self-confessed Buffy the Vampire Slayer addict, it's no wonder a product by the name of Buffy would catch my eye. But to me, a body butter is a cream or lotion product, not a solid bar that looks like soap. So it's always stopped me picking it up and giving it a go, even though I was besotted with the name and quite drawn in by the soft, sweet and subtle scent.

So when I was recently browsing through the Lush store at Brent Cross with a friend, I got one of the super friendly and informative Lush staff to explain this confusing product to me.

Unlike most body butters you might be used to, the Lush body butters come in solid bar form and are to be used whilst in the bath or shower, not after. The body butters come in two forms; simple body butters, or ones which also have an exfoliating factor to them. Buffy is one which has an exfoliator built in! With ground rice, ground almonds and ground aduki beans, Buffy is a triple threat to dead skin and lumpy bumpy bits. Tough enough to polish away dead skin, without being too harsh on your skin. With cocoa butter and shea butter, which work to ensure your skin is left moisturised and dewy soft, and lavender oil which is great for soothing the skin and calming the mind.

To use, simply lather it up a little like you would a soap whilst in the shower or bath, then run over your body in circular motions. The first time I used this I must admit, I found it far too oily. It just seemed to stick to my skin. But after that I got a bit braver with it and worked it up more, really working it into my skin. I find it works better when really wet - just a little damp and you'll find it doesn't go far. It doesn't quite exfoliate my skin as much as a body scrub would, but for day to day use it's lovely. Afterwards my skin is left soft, smooth and feeling really amazing. I am impressed!

You can find the Buffy body butter on the Lush website here and a 90g bar costs £5.95. I also picked up the Lush body butter tin which you can find on the Lush website here, which costs £2.95 and is a great way to store it in between uses!
