For me, a smokey eye is just natural. Maybe it's because I grew up in social groups more orientated towards alternative style and dark eyes were always more popular. Or maybe I just like the dark side! In the Summer of 2012 when Urban Decay released the Smoked palette, I had to have it. But, unluckily for me, it was released in America a good couple of months before the UK. So I saw it all over the American blogs I read, all over YouTube, and I couldn't get hold of it in the UK! It did nothing to help my ever increasing lust, I'll tell you! As you can imagine, as soon as it did eventually hit UK stores, I wanted it.

The Urban Decay Smoked palette takes the classic smokey eye and revolutionizes it. You can use it to create a huge variety of looks with the perfect mixture of shades and textures. It comes in a zip up sleek and mirrored case with ten shades, five of which are exclusive to the Smoked palette. From traditional smokey shades, to neutral mattes and opulent jewel tones. Each of these shadows has Urban Decay's new formula made with the pigment infusion system for richer, smoother colour, incredible texture, blend-able shades and long-lasting wear. It also comes with a full sized Pervision 24-7 Glide on Pencil; a classic matte black, and a luxuriously sized sample of the Eye-shadow Primer Potion (original formula) as well as a booklet full of different step-by-step looks and tutorials.

Kinky - A light, natural peach with a matte finish
Freestyle - A medium tan with a matte finish
Mushroom - A warm grey shimmer with taupe undertones
Backdoor - A matte dark brown
Blackout - A matte blackest black
Barlust - A metallic deep, golden brown
Rockstar - A deep purple shimmer
Evidence - A navy blue shimmer
Loaded - A deep metallic emerald green
Asphalt - A shimmering gunmetal grey

Like all Urban Decay eye-shadows, these are just utterly beautiful to work with. I find on a whole, that Urban Decay matte shades are the nicest matte shades around. They are literally perfection. I love the colour and finish variety in the palette and there's so much room to make a whole variety of looks. I would say this palette is for those confident with doing smokey eyes, but the step-by-step booklet which it comes with also makes this a perfect palette for those who want to gain confidence with darker, more sultry eyes. I think the fact it comes with this booklet, plus a full sized 24-7 pencil and a luxuriously sized primer potion, makes this palette a real bargain. My favourite shades from the palette are Freestyle, Backdoor, Rockstar and Loaded. And I am no longer utterly in lust, but utterly in love. Not long after buying this palette I picked up the accompanying 24-7 Smoked Pencils set, which is the perfect partner for this palette!
