SP Wella Luxe Oil

30 Jan 2013

SP Wella Luxe Oil

Wella. It's pretty much a name I, as I am sure many of you have also, grown up with. Wella is one of the most popular and frequently used brands in hair salons across the Country - those who haven't succumbed to fancy, high-end brands, anyway. Wella is a long-lasting brand whose products can be identified anywhere. Wella is the brand that makes me think of going to the hairdressers as a sold with my mum whilst she got a cut and blow dry - Wella is the scent which carries through my memories of those visits. But Wella isn't old or behind the times, in fact their products are just as forefront as any high-end, glitzy and glamorous brand taking over the hair scene. And this Luxe Oil hair oil, makes Wella stand out as the brand who will always be there.

My Top 5 | January 2013

Top 5 Beauty Products of January 2013

Essentially the same as a favourites post, but instead of picking as many products as I wanted (the amount I had in some of my monthly favourites post was ridiculous!) I was going to limit myself to five products only each month to be my Top 5 products of the month. And this is the very first Top 5 post! Deciding on which products to chose was far harder than I realised - limiting myself to five products meant I had to think carefully about which products I had really, really enjoyed using this month!

Clarins Spring Summer Collections 2013

Clarins Spring Summer Collections 2013

I think it's safe to say that Clarins is pretty unbeatable when it comes to their Limited Edition collections. The detail and thought that goes in to each of their products is amazing and I am always wowed by how gorgeous and sensational they look. There's just something so special about Clarins products and that shines through even more in their limited edition collections. Each piece feels truly special, unique, in a league of it's own.

Sleep-in Rollers | The Good and The Bad

27 Jan 2013

Sleep-in Rollers

Sleep-in Rollers. I think anyone who craves volume in their hair has heard of Sleep-in Rollers by now. They seem to be everywhere. And mostly due to the fact that anyone who has them, posts photos on Twitter of themselves wearing them or tweets how amazing they are, and the Sleep-in Rollers account re-tweets (literally every damn tweet to the point where it drove me crazy and I had to unfollow before I lost the plot). But are they as good as they seem? Sleep-in Rollers like to shout from the rooftops that these are adored by celebrities, the best thing to come out of Liverpool since the Scouse-brow (although that being a good thing is down to personal opinion, ahem...) I saw people going wild for these in the run up to Christmas when Sleep-in Rollers cleverly marketed a 'Christmas Eve' pack. There's no doubting they are popular. But did they work for me?

Kiehl's Nottingham Blogger Event

Kiehl's Nottingham Blogger Event

Last night I was lucky enough to attend the Nottingham Kiehl's Blogger's Gathering. A lovely evening, I learnt a lot about the history of Kiehl's, all about their huge range of products and came away with utter product-lust.

Kiehl's is a brand I have known off for a while now, and a brand whose products I often lust after, but not a brand I see spoken about much here on the blogosphere. Which is surprising, as their products are truly divine and they have a strong ethos with an inspiring history.

Clarins Pore Minimizing Serum

Clarins Pore Minimizing Serum
My skin isn't in too bad condition. For a skincare addict, I am happy to say I am pretty happy with the condition of my skin. Except, that is, for one thing. My pores. And it's been made even worse since getting my huge No7 mirror which decided to show me just how horrendous my pores really are; big, clogged and nasty. And so since examining my face in this nasty, evil mirror (it's actually an exceptionally good mirror) I decided I had to really had to kick my bottom in to gear with some pore targeting products and steps in my skincare routine. Step in - Clarins Pore Minimizing Serum.

Crabtree & Evelyn Botanical Hand Treats Hand Therapy Sampler

Crabtree & Evelyn Botanical Hand Treats Hand Therapy Sampler
I have been so excited to write this post. When I thought up the idea for a monthly 'Instead of a Beauty Box' post I didn't realise just how excited I would be about finding the perfect purchase for the post, writing about it, it's exciting! Picking the first thing to get instead of a beauty box was more difficult than I expected. It had to be within the £11.95 budget, which was how much my monthly She Said Beauty boxes were, and it had to be something I wanted, not just buying something for the hell of buying it. But when I saw this Crabtree & Evelyn hand trio over on FeelUnique for a blooming bargain price of £7 for the set with free delivery, I just knew I had to get it!

The Skincare Series | Toners

21 Jan 2013

In the last Skincare Series post I talked facial exfoliators (read that post here!) Today I am going to be talking about something far more gentle. Toners! A toner is probably one of the very first skincare products I started using back in my early teens (the first being an Olay moisturiser my mother used to demand I use from the age of 12 on-wards  The very first toner I bought, and one I still often indulge in and would recommend, is the Lush Breath of Fresh Air Toner.

Lumie Bodyclock Go75 Original Wake-Up Light

Lumie Lights, and their Lumie Bodyclock Go Wake-up Lamp, were completely unknown to me until very recently. I was very kindly sent this Lumie Bodyclock to try out and was so intrigued by it. Yes, it's an alarm clock. But boy is it so much more than just an alarm clock. As a Psychology student, I have studied Biological Psychology and know just how extremely important good sleep, and the right amount of sleep, is. I often struggle myself where sleep is concerned. I am a bit of a night owl - I will stay up late, wake up late, and I often nap too (which by the way, is incredibly bad for you) So having something to help me get to sleep better and also wake me up in a better, even healthier way, well it was something which really got my interest.

Clarins Beauty Flash Balm

Clarins Beauty Flash Balm

The Clarins Beauty Flash Balm has become a staple in my routine. And for me that's actually saying something. I once had a teeny tiny sample of this but I had it in my head that it just wasn't right for oily skin, so I gave it away. After that all I heard was everyone absolutely raving about this product. It seemed to be a massive hit with a lot of people, even those with oily skin.

Neal's Yard Remedies Rosemary and Cedarwood Hair Treatment

Whenever I pop to the Chalk Farm Nando's, I always pop into the Neal's Yard Remedies store and have a little look around. The staff are so warm and welcoming there and some of the nicest staff I have come across before! A real credit to NYR. On this particular visit me and Sophie were pretty much eyeing up every last product and we certainly had our product-lust eyes on. Then I came across this wonderful blue pot which caught my eye...

L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil

The L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil (or more formerly known as the A L'Hule D'Amande with Almond Oil) is a pretty popular and coveted product in the blogosphere. And rightly so. L'Occitane is a name I have grown up with. A prestigious brand with the highest quality products, L'Occitane is a brand I associate with luxury. And nothing feels more luxurious than the Almond Shower Oil.

How to Get the Most Wear Out of Knitwear

At the beginning of the year it can be tempting to fast forward straight to our all new Spring/Summer wardrobes. While it would be lovely to bag up those jumpers and jeans and treat ourselves to lighter, brighter new outfits, this is sadly a case of wishful thinking. From January on-wards, we’re likely to be needing our knitwear for a good few months yet. What you can do, however, is refresh your jumper drawer with some new styles, and perhaps some lighter knitwear that’s perfect for the transitional months before Summer brings with it the warmer weather.

Visiting Stratford Upon Avon

On Christmas Eve I shared with you all an early Christmas present from my friend Hayley, which was a trip to Magic Alley in Stratford-Upon-Avon (read all about that here). Whilst we were there we also did some sight-seeing and I had such a lovely day that I wanted to share it here on my blog as well as some of the photos.

Giving VO5 a try

8 Jan 2013

VO5 Smoothly Does It Curl Defining Mousse, VO5 Give Me Texture Instant Oomph Powder and VO5 Plump it Up Dry Backbomb Spray
I seem to be very late to the VO5 band-wagon. Everyone always raves about them but there didn't seem to be anything that grabbed me. But I was intrigued. Very intrigued in fact, because it seems so many of the lovely bloggers I speak to love VO5. So when I was offered to try out a few of their products I couldn't resist!

Tattoo & Piercing After Care

After care. It’s probably not the first thing you think of when getting a new tattoo or piercing, but I know from experience just how important proper after care is. I remember when I got my first piercing how nervous I was about how to look after it once it had been done – It was my first piercing, I had no idea what to do or how to look after it. When I got my first tattoo, I remember urgently asking the tattooist to tell me what to do afterwards, more so in hope of being reassured that it would be OK. Unfortunately for me, where the advice for after care of my first piercing had been spot on, the advice for my first tattoo had not. So today I am going to run you through some products which I have tried over the years, for both tattoos and piercings, and hope you don’t make any of the mistakes I did!

Sleek Blush by 3 | Pumpkin and Lace
When Sleek released these Blush by 3's, I was in my 'Right, I need to wear blush more often' frame of mind so I thought a palette with three different blush shades would be perfect! I checked out lots of online reviews and swatches and the first one I added to my collection was Pumpkin. I am a big fan of Sleek blushes, my favourite being Pomegranate which is the perfect Autumn/Winter shade. So I had high hopes for the Blush by 3 palettes!

MAC Pro-Sculpting Creams in Accentuate and Copper Beech

I had heard a lot about the MAC Pro Sculpting Creams but I wasn't overly sure of what they were for exactly. So I did a bit of online research, spurred on by some quite frankly absolute rave reviews, and I decided to take the plunge and order some to see what the fuss was all about and whether they really worth these miracle products everyone said they were.

Enrapture Extremity Heated Rollers

Enrapture Extremity Heated Rollers

Naturally, my hair is curly, and wavy, and frizzy. It can be a real pain to keep up and often I just opt for straightening it to save the hassle of trying to keep it under control. Although other's often compliment me on how my hair looks naturally, to me it's just a mess! A big curly, wavy, frizzy mess and I really don't like it very much. There's a few products which do do the job of healing tame the frizz of my curls, such as the Bumble and Bumble Hairdressers Invisible Oil which is great for softening and taming frizz, and the Bumble and Bumble Curl Conscious Reactivating Mist which is really good at refreshing my curls. But sometimes it's really nice to do something to my hair which makes those frizzy and wavy curls match the rest of my curls, giving me volume and root lift, and polished curls all round. And that is exactly what the Enrapture Extremity Heated Rollers do!

Roccos Old School

Rocco's Old School Anti-Bacterial Wash and Rocco's Old School Tattoo Balm

The last time I was tattooed was the first weekend of November and I had two and a half very painful hours of work on my sleeve. I was very kindly contacted by Rocco's Old School in the summer of 2012 and asked if I would like to try their products, so knowing I had a tattoo appointment coming up in November I thought why not?
