Caudalie Beauty Elixir, worth the hype?

A picture of the Caudalie Beauty Elixir
This has to make it into the top 10 raved about beauty products in 2012. Everyone has been talking about it, reviewing it, raving about it, obsessing over it. So what exactly is this miracle product that everyone seems to be in love with?

"The Caudalie Beauty Elixir smooths features, tightens pores and gives the complexion a burst of radiance. It is an excellent base for make up, it awakens the skin in the morning and livens it before a night out. It is for all skin types which lack radiance, as it is an exceptional anti-dull complexion treatment (as well as a wonderful after-shave treatment for men!) To use this product it's easy; shake well, avoid contact with eyes, and spray onto the face before moisturiser at any time of day. It can also be applied between your foundation and powder to perfectly set make up, and many love to use this during the day for a refreshing, toning, setting mist. It's main ingredients are grape, orange blossom, rose, organic balm mint and rosemary."

So far, I have not seen one negative review of this product. But I'm sorry to say, you're about to get one from me! First things first, this has a very strong scent. It's just too much for me and I find it repulsive. I like all of the main ingredients separately, but these ingredients and scents combined, for me, create a horrible, turn-your-nose-up-nasty scent. But now onto my main reason for disliking this product. It broke me out. I hardly ever get spots, probably once a month if that. Since using this, I have had the worst break out. I wasn't entirely sure if it was this which broke me out, so I stropped using it for a week then used it again for one day. The day after, another break out. So I think it's pretty safe to say this does not do wonders for my skin, in fact it does the opposite.

I know there's tons and tons of people who like this, but I just really don't. There are some positives to it, and that is purely aesthetic. I love the bottle, a frosted glass bottle. It looks and feels expensive and luxurious. I really wanted to like this product but it just doesn't work with my skin. I won't be purchasing another!
