I recently went for a skin consultation with Clarins and received a couple of little samples, so I thought once I had tried them out I would share them with you.

This little sample is of the Clarins Gentle Peeling Smooth Away Cream.

"Exfoliating once or twice a week is an essential part of a skin care routine to enhance complexion radiance. Gentle Peeling delivers immediate radiance to all skin types, even sensitive skin."

"This smooth away exfoliating cream without microbeads eliminates dead cells, boosts skin vitality and absorbs impurities with natural clay. Soothing primrose extract helps to maintain an ideal pH balance to ensure clean comfortable, radiant looking skin."

Sounds good, right? Well for me at least, wrong.

OK so here are the pros and cons of this high end skin care product.

It's cute. The cream itself is very silvery, and thick, and it's different to other exfoliators for that very fact, that it's silver. But does it work? I don't think so.

Usually when you receive a sample, it lasts you a little while. I got one usage out of this 5ml tube and that was including cutting the tube in half to get every last bit out of it that I could. Now, don't get me wrong. This product goes on nicely. It looks good, it's thick and creamy and it doesn't feel rough like some exfoliators can.

But the cons? I genuinely did not see any of the positives advertised along with this product. Now, I know after just one go on this it is difficult to give a justified opinion, but for a product which boosts immediate effects and isn't an every day product anyway, you'd expect to see some sort of result. Afterwards my face felt dry and had a rough texture. Even after applying my pore refiner, eye cream and night cream, my face didn't have that usual soft feel. I just hate how this felt! And this is not a product I will be investing my money in!
