Clarins Hydra-Essentiel Skincare Review

If there is one brand who never fails to impress when it comes to skincare, it's Clarins. I've adored Clarins for as long as I remember, long before the days where bold makeup brands like Urban Decay and MAC caught my eye, it was Clarins that would catch my eye in department stores and their little sets at Christmas that'd I'd scrimp and save for. When a brand can stand the test of time and impress you from teens right through to adulthood, you know it's one worth sticking with, and the new Hydra-Essentiel skincare range is a perfect example of why Clarins is a brand everyone should have in their beauty routine.

A review of the Clarins Hydra-Essentiel Skincare review

The Hydra-Essentiel range centres around five moisturisers and a serum, with each moisturiser suiting a different skin type, with four different formulas; two silky cream moisturisers, a milky lotion moisturiser, a rich cream moisturiser and a cooling gel moisturiser. The range is aimed at those with normal, combination, dry and very dry skin, so perfect for me, with a mix of combination and dehydrated skin.

I've been using the Hydra-Essentiel Bi-Phase Serum (£44) and the Hydra-Essentiel Silky Cream (£36), which is aimed at normal to dry skin. I started using both products at the beginning of the summer, so have used them consistently over an 8 week period and I've fallen absolutely in love with both products! I'm no stranger to Clarins skincare, but these may just be my favourite new releases from Clarins over the past few years, they really do deliver.

The Hydra-Essentiel Bi-Phase is unique and unlike any other serum, I have tried before. The consistency is very fluid, almost like water, whereas I'm used to thicker formulas when it comes to serums. Suited to normal, dry, combination and oily skin types, it's incredibly light-weight whilst still managing to hydrate skin almost instantaneously. It utilises an organic medicinal Kalanchoe extract, which is a very powerful natural hydration activator, boosting your skins natural production of hyaluronic acid. Whilst hydrating skin, it manages to leave skin feeling softer, smoother, more refined in texture and overall gives skin a brighter and happier look. I apply this to my face and neck before my moisturiser and although it's taken some time to get used to the consistency of this serum, I absolutely adore applying it. A little goes such a long way, one pump is more than enough for me.

You know when you enjoy a product so much, you look forward to using it? That's how I feel about the Hydra-Essentiel Silky Cream, as I adore the way it makes my skin feel especially when teamed with the serum, but also lovely to use teamed with other serums and treatments too. The consistency is just right, lightweight and very comfortable on the skin; it doesn't feel heavy, instead, feeling weightless and leaves skin softer, plump and more hydrated. I like to apply it to my face, neck and decolletage, morning or night, and find it leaves my skin feeling quite refreshed and instantly quenched. I have dehydrated skin in several areas, with skin that can range from normal to blemish prone and oily at different times of the month. I have found the Silky Cream for Normal to Dry Skin to be a good match for my skin type and I am a big, big fan of this moisturiser!

Let's face it, I'm pretty smitten with the Hydra-Essentiel range and I love having these products in my skincare routine. If you want to invest in a range that delivers when it comes to hydrating and caring for your skin, this is one range you definitely need to check out!

  1. It sounds like you have similar skin to me, so I think I'll have to try the Silky Cream moisturiser at some point. It sounds perfect for my skin at the moment, which is a little on the dehydrated side.

I also really love the serum! It's so lightweight yet nourishing. I really need to pick up another bottle.
