Our Changing Bag Essentials

One thing we all associate with being a mother, is changing bags. Wherever we go, they go. Before we leave we have to pack them until they barely zip up, just in case we need anything throughout the day. You need changing essentials, something to occupy your little one, even snacks and drinks.

Recently I've been slim-lining our changing bag, only carrying the absolute essentials and trusting my instinct when it comes to deciding how much to take out with us for the day. Willow's needs have changed over the months and the older she gets, the things inside of our changing bag change. These are our current changing bag essentials, the products we always have to have in our changing bag whenever we leave the house.

Holy Grail Moisturiser for Dry Skin

I have used, adored and repurchased the Weleda Skin Food for several years now, an incredible multi-purpose product that has well earned a full post dedicated to it. If you have dry or rough skin, this really is a wonderful, and very budget-friendly, product that is well worth looking into adding to your beauty stash.

After sun essentials on a budget

When we went to Cyprus back in April we were well prepared with SPF protection for all the family, but I was still a little bit worried of the dreaded sunburn, especially with Willow's delicate skin, so I made sure we had some kind-to-skin aftersun with us as well. If you're off on your summer holiday soon or even catching a bit of sun here in the UK, here are my top two picks for budget-friendly after sun care.

Booking a Cyprus holiday with Jet2Holidays.com

Over Easter, we spent our first family holiday in Paphos, Cyprus. Cyprus is always my favourite destination to go to on holiday, being Cypriot myself and always feeling more 'at home' there. It had been a long time since my last holiday, 13 years in fact, and so I was really excited to be heading back to Cyprus, particularly as it would be Willow's first holiday and our first family holiday. We stayed at Akti Beach Village Resort, which is in Paphos, and we booked through Jet2Holidays.com.

SPF protection for all the family

Flashback to my childhood and teens, and I would have told you I didn't need sunscreen, I never ever wore SPF. It's only since my 20's that I started to realise how absolutely paramount it is to protect our skin and wearing SPF, daily, is so important. It's important in the UK and it's important when you go on holiday, wearing SPF is one of the easiest ways you can ensure your skin is protected as possible.

Family Dinners with Pomegreat + £100 GIVEAWAY!

Coming from a Cypriot background, food has always been a huge part of family life and so family mealtimes have always been hugely important to me. I grew up eating at the dinner table as a family, using the time to catch up on everyone's day and of course, delving into delicious food that all the family enjoy. When we had Willow, family mealtimes became even more important, a time where we can sit down together and enjoy a meal with our little girl, who is still exploring the huge world of food and flavour, chatting together and enjoying a nice sit-down family meal.

Nude lips have been my go-to over the past two years, straying away from the bright and bold shades I used to opt for earlier in my 20's, adoring a simple nude lipstick that flatters my complexion and compliments my look. Pafos Zoo Cyprus Review

We spent a beautiful week in Cyprus over the Easter half term and one of the places we visited whilst there, was Pafos Zoo. I'd looked into things we could do in the area in the run-up to our holiday and Pafos Zoo kept coming up as a recommended place to visit, and so we headed there mid-week during our stay. I love animals and I think zoos can be beneficial in understanding animals as well as aiding research, conservation and breeding of rare or endangered animals. Last year we took Willow to Twycross Zoo, a great family day out and somewhere I hope to visit again this summer, but the chance to visit a zoo in Cyprus was one we couldn't miss, and I'm really glad we went!

Join the #WatchThemLearn Instagram Community

Last year I started a monthly photo challenge over on Instagram for mamas all over the world and it went down fantastically well. I kept it running for quite a while, but after 4 or 5 months I simply couldn't think of anymore unique photo cues, and so I decided to stop. Since then I have wanted to start an Instagram community, a place where all the mamas who took part in my photo challenges can find other mamas to connect with, where parents can find new friends and where we can all find a little solace in knowing we're not alone in this crazy journey that is parenthood!

Exfoliating pads from Nip + Fab

Yesterday I shared exfoliating lip treatments from GLAMGLOW, but today I wanted to concentrate on exfoliating facial pads from Nip + Fab. I used to be very one-product-only when it came to facial exfoliation, only having tried what I like to call 'manual exfoliators'; lotions and creams with exfoliating beads or ground nut shells that honestly did my skin more harm than good.

In my early 20's, through blogging no less, I came across chemical exfoliators, exfoliating toners, pads and serums, even exfoliating night creams, and I much prefer the way my skin looks and feels without needing to manually scrub something into my skin. An incredibly quick and easy way to exfoliate is by using facial pads, which can be used both morning and night, and Nip + Fab have a huge range, well loved by skincare adorers on all budgets.

5 Things Plus Size Women Should Know When Having a Ceasarean

Most of us probably envision a beautifully calm and peaceful birth. I was flexible with my birth plan, knowing anything could change at any given moment, but mostly? I wanted a water birth with no pain relief except for gas and air. I wanted dimmed lights, a mix-tape of my favourite metal music and perfectly shot photographs of me cradling my newborn in the birthing pool. I wanted delayed clamping of the cord, immediate skin-to-skin and the vernix to be kept on my baby as long as possible.

Instead? I had two failed sweeps, had to be induced at 41+5 days and spent 19 hours in labour before the decision was made that I needed an emergency caesarean. Having never even sprained an ankle before, going in for major surgery was scary, and I was extremely high-risk due to my size and weight, but who knew the surgery would be much smoother than I thought, whilst the recovery would be anything but easy.

The Queen's Head Belton Review

I've always lived in quieter villages and towns, lucky to be surrounded by beautiful British Countryside and not too far from Robin Hood County itself, full of enchanting history and wondrous myths and legends. I've always preferred living in the Countryside, having tried the 'big smoke' life of London living back at University, and craving the quietness and gorgeous views that come with living in the Countryside. I spend my days entertaining my daughter, Willow, an active and inquisitive little girl whose confidence astounds me every single day. Long gone are my days of spending two hours applying my makeup in the morning or late night drinking with friends, swapped instead for trying to get a nappy on a wriggling baby that won’t stop trying to run away and wiping mucky faces after another messy dinnertime.

Becoming a mother is an amazing journey, but one which you can often feel like you are taking alone. Here are five things I think all new mothers should know, things I have learnt since becoming a mama and a few things I think we should all be reminded of every now and then.

I Don't Want To Be Body Positive

Before I fell pregnant with Willow I had been a Weight Watchers member on and off for several years. Overall I had managed to lose over 4.5 stone and I truly believe it not only benefited my health but helped me to get pregnant as quickly as we did. When pregnant I knew that the myth of eating for two was exactly that, a myth, and it wasn't necessary to eat more than 200 additional calories in the third trimester; but of course, I ate more than that and often consumed much more than I was consciously registering. By the time I was two weeks overdue with Willow I weighed 6.5 stone more than my pre-pregnancy weight, a tremendous weight gain, the majority of which was completely unnecessary.

Of course, a lot of that weight gain was down to carrying a baby, the waters which were her home, my body preparing for breastfeeding and I had extreme swelling and Edema which meant I experienced a lot of water retention. However, I'm very clearly no longer pregnant and Willow is now a 1-year-old; yet I still weigh the same as I did when I was 2 weeks overdue with her.

Vichy Skincare Favourites for Combination Skin

Since I was around 22 I have had a real big thing for skincare. There are few things I love more than a pampering and effective skincare routine and I like taking the time, morning and night, to make sure I cleanse properly and pop on my skincare products afterwards. When I had Willow the routine I had spent years perfecting went well out of the window and for months, I was doing the basics - if that, for which my skin seriously suffered. As a result, I've spent the last 6 months clawing back my skincare routine, stripping things back to basics and using specific products to combat the skin woes I was facing after a long time being very slack on my usual routine.
