The Bath Oil

Olverum Bath Oil Review

For me there is an instant feeling of luxury and extravagance when you sink into a bath that has had a splash of oil. It wasn't until my mid-20's that I realised how beautiful bath oils were, previously worrying that they would make baths slippery and I'd come out needing to jump straight back in the shower! In fact, bath oils are nothing like I imagined and now, years later, are one of my favourite bath products.

The bath oil taking pride of place in our bathroom lately is the exquisite Olverum Bath Oil, a bath oil which was originally created way back in 1931 by a wine merchant in Germany, which works to ease all sorts of aches and pains. Having had a cesarean with Willow, I had to have an epidural and later in surgery, a spinal block. That coupled with over 9 months of pregnancy, I have ended up with a very sore and tender back which can often be very painful; so products which help ease some of that pain are very well loved by me.

The scent of this bath oil is one for those of you who like me, love essential oils, botanical plants and aromatic scents. It's instantly uplifting for me, not too overpowering as some products of this nature can be, perfectly intensified just a touch when teamed with a hot bath. It has been created to benefit both body and mind, containing extracts of 10 aromatic plants; Eucalyptus, Lavender, Juniper, Lavandin, Lemon Peel, Siberian Fir Needle, Exotic Verbena, Lime, Geranium and Rosemary.

There are three key benefits to Olverum, which offers deep relaxation and stress relief, soothes aches and pains and also helps to hydrate skin. The oil itself is light, non-greasy, a beautiful elixir that easily helps me to unwind and relax. It's perfect at the end of a long day, even better when my back is a touch too sore and I need something to help soothe away unwanted aches, whilst also being quite invigorating. I find one cap full is more than enough for one bath - now all I need is an Olverum candle, to carry the scent through to our bedroom too!

Available in two sizes, the 125ml bottle costs £23.50 and provides enough oil for 25 baths, whilst the larger 200ml size which costs £36.95 will last you 40 sensuous soaks.

Available directly from www.olverum.com, as well as Liberty and House of Fraser.

  1. My goodness this oil sounds so luxurious and gorgeous! I have to admit, I've been dubious of bath oils in the past, but this product does sound pretty amazing, it has to be said. Albeit, not cheap!

    1. It's definitely a luxury oil but absolutely wonderful and really effective. Pricey, but the quality of ingredients and the product overall definitely reflect the price. Why not try the smaller sized bottle? xo

  2. This oil sounds amazing! I completely understand how difficult it is to suffer with back pain after pregnancy, I had SPD and sciatica and still have bad days now. I've started doing Pilates regular which has helped but I need to try something soothing in the bath, so I'm going to give this ago. Thank you for the recommendation.
