When I heard the news that Birchbox were releasing their own beauty brand, I was more than a little bit excited. When you have such a successful subscription service such as Birchbox, which has worked with some of the worlds most loved brands and constantly introduces subscribers to new and exciting products, you can expect them to have picked up their own tips and tricks along the way. All that time trialing and testing products, getting to know the people behind the brands and selecting only the best of the best to feature in their monthly boxes, there's a whole depth of knowledge they've picked up along the way which would make creating their own brand an instant hit.
The brand is called LOC, which stands for Love of Colour, the perfect name for any makeup enthusiast. The range currently features 6 products which cover eyes and lips, all in stick format and packaging wise, we're talking simplistic chic whilst being lightweight and petite. Products which won't clog up your makeup storage, as well as being great for popping in your handbag.
Something I really love about this new brand from Birchbox is the ethical side of things - the entire range is cruelty free, which is just fantastic! Although my makeup stash isn't exclusively cruelty-free, I do like to use as many cruelty-free products as I can and I always love discovering new animal-friendly brands. I really like that Birchbox have gone down the cruelty-free route, as it allows the vast majority of their subscribers to indulge in the new range.
The idea behind LOC is simple. Each season Birchbox will share a curated collection of vibrant colours featuring 'must-have' hues of the moment. The range is budget-friendly, so nothing too pricey for those of you who prefer not to splurge on makeup, but all with shades and formulas that will effortlessly see you through each season.
Lips are covered with 3 rather beautiful shades of Vibrant Matte Lipsticks; a fab vibrant red in the form of Trouble (think Marilyn Monroe red), a stand-out berry in the form of Uncorked (similar to cult lip-shade MAC Rebel) and a peachy nude, Skinny Dip. The texture when applied is soft and creamy, within seconds drying to a very nice matte finish. Longevity wise they're pretty darn good. I do find a lip liner is the best way to go with all three shades, with Trouble and Uncorked being my favourites; Skinny Dip is a touch too pale against my Mediterranean complexion and so it's one I'll be passing on to a friend. Costing just £6.50, they're a really budget buy, and I'd go so far as to say they are just as good as my beloved NARS lip pencils... a must-try for lipstick addicts!
The One & Done Shadow Sticks are absolutely delicious with the most perfect creamy soft formulas that glide on effortlessly, within seconds drying with a completely non-budge formula. You could even get away with wearing these without an eye primer, they're just that pigmented and long-lasting. There's 3 shades featured in this season's collection; Perfect Cents which is the most gorgeous gold with warming copper tones, Champagne Problems which is a lovely taupe with silver undertones and Empress Me, which looks like a bronze chocolate shade (will definitely need to add that to my beauty stash for summer!). The formula and pigmentation of these beauties has impressed me so much, I'd love if Birchbox released eye liners with the same formula and colour punch as these! The shadow sticks cost £8 each, so again very reasonably priced.
It's so lovely to try some new products and be really excited by the formula, shades and quality. This is an amazing brand for Birchbox and I think it's going to become quite the hit with beauty adorers and monthly subscribers...
