SnüzPod2 3-in-1 Bedside Crib

A review of SnüzPod2 3-in-1 Bedside Crib Eco White
One of the most important things to consider when you're expecting a baby is where they will sleep. It was definitely one of the first things that crossed my mind when I found out I was pregnant, especially as it is advised that your baby sleeps in the same room as you for the first 6 months of their life.

Co-sleeping is a bit of a controversial subject. Something which was once frowned upon, with reason as if done incorrectly can be very dangerous for a baby, advice over whether co-sleeping is safe has massively differed over the years. There are benefits to co-sleeping though, such as increasing the bond you have with your baby, making feeding throughout the night easier and overall giving both mother and baby more confidence through the night. Studies and statistics have also shown that having your baby close by and in your room for those first 6 months reduces the risk of SIDS - Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Thankfully there are now solutions which make co-sleeping much safer, in the form of bedside cribs.

I knew straight away that the type of crib I wanted for our bedroom during these first 6 months would be a co-sleeper. At first I was convinced, purely because of the TV adverts, that the Chicco Next To Me would be the one we went for, but after seeing it in person on a visit to Mothercare I was really disappointed by the quality of it. It was just very wobbly and didn't feel sturdy or a very secure place for a baby to sleep. Of course babies are small and don't weigh very much, but I want to feel like the crib I put my baby into is safe and that's not the impression I got from the one we saw in store. In fact it was so wobbly that my dad who was with us point blank said 'You are not putting my grandchild in that'. Determined not to give up on finding the perfect co-sleeper, I ended up scouring the Internet for an alternative that would be perfect for us and safe, when I stumbled across the SnüzPod2 3-in-1 Bedside Crib.

For me the SnüzPod ticked all the boxes. It has a design I absolutely love which not only fits in perfectly with the furniture we already have (because obviously that's a top priority...), but the design and style is much more 'me'. A 3-in-1, it can be used as a bedside crib attached to your bed with the side up or down as preferred, as a standalone crib and as a bassinet. Unlike other co-sleepers, the design of the SnüzPod allows you to completely lift off the top section bassinet so that you can move it around your home with ease or even travel with it when staying elsewhere. It also comes with a storage shelf where you can keep all your essentials close by, which is a feature I really love because it helps keep things tidy and it's so handy having everything in one place.

I have two boxes under ours; one has our changing essentials and the other has a box of things to keep me occupied during feeds. If that wasn't enough the SnüzPod itself also rocks, which can be a fab way to help soothe your baby and get them off to sleep. Unlike other co-sleepers, the SnüzPod is made using quality Beech wood and has a see-through mesh window which not only aids breathability and allows you to see your baby as they sleep, but this same side also zips down creating the 'co-sleeping' aspect. Aesthetically, the SnüzPod wins hands down for me against all other co-sleepers on the market and with it being available in four different colours; Eco White, Dove Grey, Natural and Espresso, there's a SnüzPod for any home and style. Looks aside, how has the SnüzPod worked out for us now that Willow has called it her own for 3 whole weeks?

If you have any children yourself I'm sure you'll know that bedtime and getting into any sort of routine, especially at such a young age, can be an impossible task. Willow is definitely a clingy baby - and I don't say that in a bad way, I love mummy cuddles! But late at night when it comes to trying to get her to settle into her SnüzPod, I can be trying for hours. She seems to prefer sleeping on her mama late at night and so I have to wait until she is in a really deep sleep before I can transfer her over to her SnüzPod. That said, once she is in there and asleep, she is happy and settled there until her next feed and will sleep soundly, comfortably and safely. I find it super easy to transfer her over to the SnüzPod when she's ready and even easier to get her out when she's due a feed as it's the perfect height if I'm stood up, but easy to slide her over if I'm lay down and just want to unzip the side. I find it incredibly reassuring that I can see her as she sleeps, even with the side zipped up, because the mesh material allows me a really clear view of her. This really puts my mind at ease because I can see she's OK, see she's in the right position, that blankets haven't moved up or down, that she hasn't been sick in her sleep (new mama worries galore!).

The quality of our SnüzPod is beyond any other co-sleeper we looked into whilst pregnant, such high quality that I know when she grows out of it and goes into her cot bed that we can take it apart again, store it away and use it again for future babies with no worries over it no longer being suitable or being ruined in storage. It has all the benefits of a standalone crib that I would look for, with the added bonus of being a co-sleeper. Now that we have co-slept with Willow, I honestly don't think we could use a standard crib - the reassurance and confidence our SnüzPod gives me is invaluable.
