Back in November I shared some of the latest skincare products I'd been giving a try in 2015 which had managed to sneak their way into my skincare routine, impressing me with the benefits they had shown my skin. Whilst sharing these new skincare favourites I made a little mention of the FOREO Luna, an electronic beauty tool very different to the cleansing brushes which have taken over the beauty scene over recent years, and in my opinion far more beneficial for treating and caring for your skin.
What makes it different from other beauty devices? The FOREO Luna uses T-Sonic pulsations which are channeled through the soft silicone touch-points. This allows the device to work gently with your skin in a non-abrasive way, delivering 8,000 T-Sonic pulsations a minute which deeply cleanse without damaging your skin. The surface of these silicone touch-points differs between devices depending on skin type, with each one being designed to work in harmony with your skin's needs.
Using silicone has other benefits alongside being gentle, too, in that it is an exceptionally easy way to keep a product clean and hygienic between uses. I also find the soft silicone feels much nicer on my skin than cleansing brushes such as the Clarisonic, which even when used very gently can have a slightly abrasive feel. It's also 100% waterproof and one single charge will last you an incredible 450 uses - I have only ever needed to charge my Luna once!
I do feel that a device such as the FOREO Luna is best used alongside a cleanser opposed to on bare skin, and I have found the perfect match for it in the form of the budget-friendly Vichy Purete Thermale Fresh Cleansing Gel. I simply apply the Fresh Cleansing Gel to my face, massage in a little to distribute the product, before going in with my Luna. I reach for my Luna 2-3 times a week and love how easy it is to use, always finding my skin looking fresher, much clearer and calmer after use. It's particularly lovely to use before a face mask when cleansing skin ready for your chosen mask, as it ensures your skin is really clean and clear, allowing your mask to work to it's full potential.
As for the reverse anti-ageing side, I have to be honest; I haven't tried it, but it is something I plan on making a regular feature in my routine in 2016. Not only will I be turning 28 this summer, but I am generally paying more attention to anti-ageing products as of late and with my first baby due next week, I have a feeling the late nights and tiredness will soon take their toll on my skin. For those of you who are interested in this aspect of the FOREO Luna, I will post an update once I have given it some consistent use, but for a quick idea it aims to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles whilst leaving skin smoother and more youthful, whilst being recommended as most beneficial when used both morning and night.
At £123.25 it's not the most budget-friendly of skincare devices, but when you consider that cost spread out over the years you'll use it, I think it is a purchase that ends up justifiable. As an electronic device it's worth noting it also comes with a 2 year guarantee! For me at least the FOREO Luna has been a welcome addition to my skincare routine, a device I much prefer to the more abrasive cleansing products which have dominated the beauty scene over recent years. I'll be adding to the FOREO Issa to my wishlist next!
