1st Trimester | My experience

Sharing my experience of the 1st trimester as a first time mum-to-be.
A week ago today I shared the news that my partner and I are starting a family, expecting our very first baby on January 12th 2016. If you caught the post - When your life changes forever - you'll remember me saying I wanted to share weekly pregnancy posts, which after the baby is born will go into parenting posts.

Of course, the beauty content here on Tattooed Tealady will remain the same and that will still be the predominant theme, but the lifestyle posts I share will take on a pregnancy theme! I want to make the weekly pregnancy posts interesting and a little different to the 'usual' pregnancy posts you might come across. To start things off, I'm going to share my experience of the 1st Trimester - because gosh, it was nothing like I expected at all!

This month's favourites | July 2015

A picture of beauty products
This month has gone by crazy fast, although I always think July is pretty quick - probably because it's my favourite month of the year. Not only is July usually hot and sunny in the UK, but July is also my birthday month and this month was the dreaded 27! Makeup wise I had mostly makeup free days this month, which I put down to total laziness and just not wanting to put makeup on when I'm just at home all day. That said I have a bunch of favourites to share with you all that covers makeup, skincare, body care and a nail polish, which is a very new addition to my beauty stash!

Lottie London Makeup Tools

A picture of Lottie London Makeup Brushes
A new brand on the beauty scene, you may have seen Lottie London pop up on quite a few blogs over the past couple of months. As soon as news of Lottie London hit the beauty world, I was instantly drawn in by the bright colours, stand-out designs and budget-friendly range of both beauty tools and nail polishes. After giving a few of their makeup brushes and tools a try, do I still think Lottie London are the new must-try brand on the high-street?

Jurlique Hydra-Gloss with Nutri-Oil Complex

A picture of Jurlique Hydra-Gloss with Nutri-Oil Complex
Over the past couple of years my love for glosses has really grown. Once a product I would avoid, put off by high-street brands whose formulas felt sticky, thick and always a mess to apply and wear, I discovered brands and ranges which were the opposite, which made me fall in love with glosses again. I've tried my fair share of brands and have built up a steady collection of glosses with a variety of finishes and intensity, but a brand I never would have considered for a gloss is Jurlique.

KIKO Eyebrow Expert Styling Kit

A picture of KIKO Eyebrow Expert Styling Kit
One of the most exciting products in my KIKO Make Up Milano Beauty Haul (see here) was without a doubt the Eyebrow Expert Styling Kit. I was really excited when I spotted the kit in store, because it's been a while since I've found a more budget-friendly eyebrow kit that I've wanted to give a try.

A lot of brands on the high-street have some budget-friendly eyebrow kits on offer, but the ones I've tried over the years have been really disappointing, to the point where it's put me off trying cheaper brands. Usually I get a ton of fall out with the powder products, the wax is very obviously very cheaply made and feels more like candle wax than anything else, and the longevity is just really, really poor. This is why when it comes to eyebrow kits I've generally stayed with two high-end brands that I know I can rely on, whose products are worth the splurge because the quality is exceptionally high and the kits themselves last months and months (Benefit and HD Brows for anyone interested!). I wanted to give the KIKO kit a try because so far I've adored the products I've tried from KIKO, and I was sure that if any brand could do a budget eyebrow kit well, KIKO would be that brand.

The Melt Crowd July Box

A picture of The Melt Crowd July Box
Last month I introduced you to a brand new monthly subscription service, The Melt Crowd created by Flamingo Candles. Today I'm going to share the July box with you all - but before we get into that, I want to give you an update to my thoughts on the June box.

If you've read Tattooed Tealady for a while you'll know that I am completely obsessed with candles; we have them all over the house and I light at least one every single day. Full size candles, votives, wax melts, you name it, I am obsessed with it. Like most people one of the brands which frequents my candle stash the most is Yankee Candle, in all their different varieties, including wax melts. Something I noticed with my wax melts from the June The Melt Crowd Box was just how long the scent stuck around; I generally use a wax melt for as long as possible or until the scent is no longer strong enough. With Yankee Candle I find the wax melts can be burned around 2-3 times at most, but with the wax melts from The Melt Crowd/Flamingo Candles, the scent stuck around so well that I could easily use the same melt everyday for a full week, with the scent still pulling through strong. I am so, so impressed, and I think I'm definitely converted, because I've never known wax melts to last as beautifully as the ones featured inside The Melt Crowd! Check out my June review here.

KIKO Make Up Milano Beauty Haul

A picture of KIKO Eyebrow Expert Styling Kit
It's no secret I am a big fan of KIKO, a brand I regularly feature here on Tattooed Tealady and a brand whose budget-friendly products are often really up there as a great comparison to high-end beauty brands. I have tried a lot of KIKO products over the past couple of years, and I am yet to be disappointed by anything - they have great pigmentation, lovely formulas and fab longevity with lovely packaging, product designs and collections which are swoon-worthy. Add to that their super expansive shade range for their vast makeup range, alongside having an nice selection of body care and skincare, and KIKO is definitely a brand which should be on everyone's 'to try' list.

My top MAC summer lipsticks

A picture of MAC lipsticks

We've been super lucky in the UK to have some beautiful hot sunny days so far this summer, and it's really brought out my lust for bolder, brighter colours. Back in May I shared my top MAC Lipsticks for Spring, so I thought it was about time I did the same for my favourite summer MAC lipsticks, too.

Jamie's Italian Nottingham

A picture of Jamie's Italian Nottingham
I remember the very first time I visited Jamie's Italian in Nottingham. A restaurant I had seen a lot in my year of living in London, always packed and fully booked, I was delighted to find out we actually had our very own Jamie's in the heart of the Lace Market, one of Nottingham's most famous and historically beautiful areas. I remember expecting the menu to be extremely expensive and went along with a friend as a 'treat'.

Much to my surprise, the prices of everything from the starters, mains and desserts down to the expansive drinks menu were actually all super reasonable, and I ended up indulging in the most flavourful and tasty meal I had ever had in Nottingham. Since then, Jamie's Italian has been my restaurant of choice whenever I am in Nottingham, a restaurant I have been to with my partner, with friends, a restaurant that has become a must whenever I am near.

Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara

A picture of Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara

Mascara. A product I go through more than any other, a product we're constantly reminded that we shouldn't use longer than 3 months. It can get quite expensive having to replace mascaras every 3 months, so I usually stick to high-street brands for making my lifeless lashes look thicker and longer.
