The Sunday Post #47 | The Good Spa Guide

Sundays have always been about pampering for me. The one guilt-free day of the week where everyone indulges in sleeping in late, binging on Netflix and trying to get as much 'me time' in as possible before the start of a new working work. Ever since I can remember, Sunday's have been my favourite day of the week to pamper and preen, relax and indulge in some of my favourite things. Disappearing into my current book, sinking into a hot bubble bath and pampering from head to toe, something made all the more luxurious this Sunday thanks to The Good Spa Guide.

I was very kindly sent a lovely package of pampering treats along with my very own spa bathrobe by the fab team over at The Good Spa Guide to enjoy some pampering time with, and let me tell you, it is much needed today! Yesterday I enjoyed a long planned trip to Nottingham for my last blogger catch up with some of my favourite blogger girls before baby arrives, shopping and indulging in a lovely 3 course meal at my favourite, Jamie's Italian. It was the most lovely day, but boy did my body feel it by the time I got home! At 7 months into my pregnancy I am officially at that attractive swollen feet and excruciating backache stage, so today has been spent hiding away in our bedroom, pampering, watching Desperate Housewives and generally having some much needed me time.

Setting the scene was easy with the Baobab Collection White Musk & Jasmine White Pearls Scented Candle, which honestly has the most instantaneously soothing scent, it's absolutely beautiful. Presented in a pretty glass holder with white speckled design, it's part of the Pearl Collection which has been inspired by natural and rare pearl colourings. The full scent range looks absolutely amazing with some stunning scents; as a completely new brand to me, it's definitely made a few of the other scents sneak onto my wish list, especially as this one smells so stunning when lit. I particularly love the sound of Emerald Pearls, which teams Amber with Fig.

I love using face masks and I have quite the weekly routine down when it comes to making sure my skin gets as much pampering and TLC as possible. The Good Spa Guide included two lovely exfoliating masks in their pampering package, and this morning I decided to try out the Voya Luminosity Refining Radiance Exfoliator. It's perfect as a morning mask with it's subtly fruity scent, great for oily and combination skin which is my skin type down to a T! It has a lovely set of ingredients including Rosehip Oil, Plum Oil, Sour Cherry Oil, Pineapple Enzyme, Seaweed Extract, Aloe Leaf Juice, Seabuckthorn Fruit Oil and Alphine Whillowherb Extract, with a very light-weight consistency - almost like a thick serum. It aims to exfoliate skin by eliminating dead skin cells minimising pores and refreshing skin, leaving a radiant and smooth complexion. I popped it on for the full 10 minutes of the 5-10 minutes recommend, and once rinsed away with a warm muslin cloth it left my skin looking and feeling very soft and smooth, overall looking healthier and brighter.

I plan to try the other exfoliating mask - a pot of ishga Scottish Seaweed Exfoliating Face Mask - later next week for a mid-week pamper. I can't wait to see how they compare!

Whilst my skin was being pampered with the Voya mask I decided to pamper my body too, using the ishga Scottish Seaweed Hebridean Sea Salt Scrub. Few things make me as happy as when my skin is soft and smooth as silk, and this beauty achieved that with ease! Hebridean Sea Salt is a pure, natural and unrefined salt which retains over 60 naturally occurring trace elements which are essential for good health and well-being. It is more abrasive than any other body scrubs in my beauty stash, due to the chunky sea salt, so I found it better for use on dry skin on my rougher areas such as the soles of my feet, knees and elbows, and to make it easy to use on other areas of my body I simply mixed it in with some body wash and applied it to damp skin on those areas. My favourite thing about this scrub? It smells amazing, very fresh, invigorating and slightly zesty.

Once my body was soft and smooth and my face mask all rinsed off, I turned to the Thalgo Reviving Marine Mist, which may have just earned a spot in my hospital bag. A lovely fine mist, it's perfect for after cleansing or treating yourself to a face mask, working to reinforce the effectiveness of the other products in your skincare routine (especially your moisturiser!), by stimulating the energy and activity of your skin with a Sea Water concentrate. You might be seeing this one crop up in an upcoming favourites post...

Next up my skin got a hydration boost with the Decleor Aromessence Neroli Hydrating Oil Serum, which is my very first try of a Decleor product. Formulated for morning use, it contains a unique blend of essential oils which work to hydrate and revitalise skin with a fresh and floral scent and light-weight silky texture. I applied a couple of drops of this to my skin, patted in lightly to face and neck, and let it sink in for a minute or so before moving onto my morning moisturiser.

The pampering package also kindly included a Caudalie Vinosource S.O.S Thirst Quenching Serum, which I'll be treating my skin to before bed (but is suitable for morning use as well as night), alongside the Templespa Velvet Face Base, which I didn't use today as I was having a makeup-free day, but will be giving a test tomorrow! Oh, and let's not forget the very lovely bottle of bubbles, which is going to be waiting patiently for me to crack open in the New Year when baby has arrived!

It's been lovely having some new products to test out and pamper with today, and The Good Spa Guide picked some real beauty gems. All of these products are completely new to me, some from brands I've never even heard of before, so I'll be sure to share more in-depth reviews when I've given them all a proper test over a longer period of time.

In the mean time I'm going to get stuck into my spa guide and check out some of the local spas near me, ready to get stuck in with this Tuesday's chat over on Twitter. If you're interested in joining in a pampering themed chat and sharing your favourite spas and spa treatments, it starts at 7:30pm over at @GoodSpaGuide! It'll be the perfect entrĂ©e to Wednesday's awards ceremony, where The Good Spa Guide will be recognising the best UK spas!

What better way to spend my Sunday... Thanks The Good Spa Guide!
