The November Subscription Boxes 2015

A picture of the November Birchbox x Skinny Dip box

Subscription boxes have always had a place on Tattooed Tealady, ever since I first started writing this blog back in early 2012. I used to share monthly reviews of every beauty box going, both brands which are still around now as well as those who have fizzled out and long-since stopped business. Over the years the boxes and brands of monthly subscription boxes I shared has gone down, finding myself with a couple of select favourites and ultimately realising that I didn't need to be subscribed to every single box going; at the time it was a good way to introduce myself to new products and brands, but over time it just ended up with me having mountains of boxes and samples I never got around to using.

The boxes which feature on Tattooed Tealady now are boxes which I really do love and look forward to receiving each month. Not just specific to beauty any more, either, but including home and lifestyle boxes which are full with beautiful scented and exceptionally tasty treats each month. Today I wanted to share these boxes with you in a new format; one post a month sharing each fabulous subscription which has popped through my door that month. Let's get stuck in shall we?

The Melt Crowd | A monthly subscription box containing 8 Scent Melts from Flamingo Candles, including exclusive monthly scents and a free wax burner with your 1st box. The Melt Crowd costs £10 a month including delivery, with a contents worth £18.95. Each month includes an exclusive 20% off discount code to use on the Flamingo Candles website. Available at www.flamingocandles.co.uk.

If you're anything like me and burning scent melts and candles is one of your favourite ways to get in the festive spirit, then the November The Melt Crowd box is a perfect way to get the festivities going. With a lovely array of perfectly autumnal scents, it features 5 permanent scents within the Flamingo Candles range, 2 The Melt Crowd Preview scents and 1 The Melt Crowd Exclusive scent. The permanent scents included this month are Blackberry & Bay Leaf, Blackcurrant Jam, Darjeeling Tea, Parma Violets and Violet & Lime. Each smells absolutely delicious but I'm definitely edging towards the fruity scents more this month and really enjoyed Blackberry & Bay Leaf, with Blackcurrant Jam being tucked away for use this weekend. The exclusive scent with the November box is Warm Vanilla Sugar, and boy is it a beauty! I've burned half of this one already and have kept the other half to one side for another day. The preview scents included are both Christmas themed. There's Bah! Humbug, which I featured in the Classic Candle Jar in my recent Christmas Gifts for the Home gift guide, and is a huge hit in the Tattooed Tealady household. Christmas Tree-O finishes the box of perfectly.

There was also a mysterious 9th scent melt inside my November box, in the scent '6 Spiced Wassail', which I think might be an extra because it's the 6th box since The Melt Crowd began. Either way, I'm never one to complain about an extra!

Really happy with the scents in the November box and it's left me extremely excited for the December box, which a little scent melt fairy has told me is going to be very festively themed!

Birchbox UK | A monthly beauty subscription service that often includes lifestyle extras, featuring 5 luxury beauty treats from high-end brands covering makeup, body care, hair care and skincare. Subscribers can review products found inside their boxes on the Birchbox website in return for 'Birchbox credits', which can be used in the Birchbox e-shop. Birchbox costs £10 a month plus £2.95 post and packaging. Available at www.birchbox.co.uk

This month Birchbox have teamed up with lifestyle brand Skinny Dip with two box designs on offer. The fun little booklet which is included in each month's box, detailing all the products and brands featured as well as lots of beauty tips and tricks, even comes with a very lovely £10 off voucher for subscribers to use on purchases of Skinny Dip accessories. The November box features 6 beauty products in total, covering each aspect of beauty with some really fabulous brands included.

Makeup is covered with the Lord & Berry Silhouette Neutral Lip Liner (£9) which is designed to prevent your lip products smudging and bleeding throughout the day. Translucent in shade, it works as a barrier to keep your lip product of choice stay in place. Covering hair care we have a 30ml sample of Living Proof Restore Instant Repair Cream (£25), which promises to be the answer to missed hair appointments with it's lightweight formula. Working to seal split ends and strengthen hair, it helps you keep hair happy and healthy between appointments. There's 2 products covering body care this month, starting with the 50ml Cowshed Cow Pat Hand Cream (from £8) which is right up my street with essential oils and Grapefruit and Coriander. I really like Cowshed body care and this hand cream is described as a very nourishing lotion which works to soothe, tone and moisturise hands and cuticles. The second body care product is the 'Beauty Treat' for the November box and that's a sample of the English Laundry Notting Hill Femme Eau de Parfum (£60), with a feminine take on the English Laundry men's scent; teaming fresh fruity notes of Mandarin and Cassis with warm undertones of Wood and Vanilla, which together create a truly beautiful scent.

Skincare is taken care of with two products, one of which is a current favourite of mine in the form of a 10ml sample of the REN Wake Wonderful Night-Time Facial (£32) which I featured in my recent post on new skincare favourites. It's a lovely product to pop on 2-3 times a week, letting it work it's magic overnight with a blend of Glycolic and Lactic Acid which trigger cell renewal, providing smoother, brighter and happier skin by morning. Last but not least, a 10ml sample pot of Trilogy Make-Up Be Gone Cleansing Balm (£19.50) which I am very excited to try, as I am on the hunt for a new cleansing balm. With a nourishing blend of Mango Butter, Rosehip and Coconut Oils, it works to remove makeup and cleanse skin with ease.

A lovely box from Birchbox this month with a fab mix of products and brands. I'm excited to try all the products included, especially the cleansing balm. I hope the December box has a fab festive theme, I can't wait to see what the design of the box itself is especially as decorative boxes have been a really lovely theme with Birchbox this year!

A picture of the November 2015 The Vegan Kind Box

The Vegan Kind | A monthly lifestyle subscription box including food, drinks and home products which are all 100% suitable for vegans. Each month The Vegan Kind donate 20p from the cost of each box to an animal charity chosen by subscribers, with each box including a generous array of products as well as a tasty recipe card. The Vegan Kind costs £10 a month plus £3.15 post and packaging. Available at www.thevegankind.co.uk.

The November box has quite an array of food products for all the family, including products specifically for children. There's a very delicious looking 100g Cocoa Libre Honeycomb Chocolate Slab (£3.95) which I can't wait to tuck into. A dairy-free artisan chocolate bar with honeycomb top, The Vegan Kind suggest it as the perfect chocolate treat for sharing - but I'll definitely be tucking into this one all by myself! Another chocolate treat is the 80 iChoc Choco Cookie Chocolate Bar (£2) which sounds equally as lovely' dark cocoa biscuits pieces with rice smooth rice milk chocolate. On the savory side of things there's an absolutely huge 135g Ten Acre The Story of When The Cheese Met The Onion Crisps (£1.99), which has featured in The Vegan Kind boxes before, so I know it's going to be a tasty treat! I've popped this one in the treat cupboard for now, but I really recommend checking out Ten Acre as their range is incredibly flavourful.

There's 3 products specifically for kids in this month's box; 150g Quinoa Mothergrain Thai Quinoa, 150g Quinola Mothergrain Tex Mex Quinoa and 150g Quinoa Mothergrain Mediterranean Quinoa (£1.99 each). I was hoping these might be freezeable to pop in the freezer for baby Gizmo, but the packaging doesn't suggest they are so I'm going to see if my 4 year old nephew would have them, as I don't want them to go to waste. Each seems to have some really healthy ingredients, made with organic produce and gluten free.

The none food items inside the November box include a Be Kind, Go Vegan Band (£1.99) and a Hurraw Lip Balm (£4.49) which I received in the scent/flavour Black Cherry, which happens to be one of their tinted varieties. I am a sucker for lip balms so I'm really chuffed with this addition to the November box and think the subtle berry colour will be lovely over the autumn and winter months when I don't want to opt for a full lip colour.

A lovely box this month, I'm always happy with sweet and savory treats and love the little beauty extra. Although we can't use the kids Quinoa ourselves, it's great to be introduced to vegan-friendly alternatives with our own baby on the way!

The Vegan Kind Beauty Box | The Vegan Kind Beauty Box is a quarterly beauty subscription box featuring products which are 100% vegan friendly, including a variety of beauty products. A donation of 20p from each box sold is donated to animal charities chosen by The Vegan Kind subscribers. The Vegan Kind Beauty Box costs £15 plus £3.15 post and packaging every 3 months. Available at www.thevegankind.co.uk.

I always find The Vegan Kind Beauty Box a lovely treat to receive, as it can be a real eye opener as to the quality of beauty products which fall into the vegan-friendly category. The latest box features makeup, hair care and body care products as well as beauty tools. Covering makeup we have Emani Vegan Cosmetics Soulmate Lipshine (£11) which has got to be one of the chunkiest glosses I've seen in years! With a lovely soft pink colour and fine iridescent shimmer, it's enriched with Vitamin E alongside natural and organic oils, fruit extracts and pure mineral pigments. An essential tool for your handbag for touch ups on-the-go comes in the form of a Vegan Button Mirror; a slim portable mirror like this is always great to have in your handbag and this one has a lovely simple fuchsia and white design that celebrates vegans with a lovely bunny. Another makeup tool included this month is a Spectrum Collections Concealer and Eyeshadow Brush (£4.99), which has the perfect shape and density for apply shadow and under-eye concealers and correctors.

There's 2 products covering body care in the latest The Vegan Kind Beauty Box. First up we have a 50ml Human+Kind Hand, Elbow and Foot Cream (£6) which has really bright and colourful packaging. Described as 'skincare with a conscience', it's an intensely moisturising 3-in-1 cream which adds a much needed boost of hydration to dry skin, softening, smoothing and nourishing. The second product is a 200ml pot of Cocoyou Coconut Oil (£5.99) which is a very welcome addition to the box as I adore coconut oil! It can be used for so many things from beauty treatments and pampering such as softening dry skin, being used as an intensive overnight hair mask or even used as a massage oil. But my favourite way to use coconut oil? To make roast potatoes! Taking care of hair we have a 30ml sample of Green People's Vegan & Organic Intensive Repair Shampoo (£11.95) which has been specifically formulated for coloured, chemically-treated hair which gets styled with heated tools a little too frequently. It works to strength and repair damaged, dry and weak hair with a new Colour Lock System which is rich in active nutrients and proteins.

I'm really excited about the products inside the latest The Vegan Kind Beauty Box. It's great to see so many aspects of beauty covered and with products I will actually get use out of. I'm most excited by the Human+Kind Hand, Elbow and Foot Cream which will be handy for my bedside table as a multi-tasker, and the Cocoyou Coconut Oil.

There's been a fantastic array of brands and products featured in the November subscription boxes and the variety of scents inside this month's The Melt Crowd box are perfect for this time of year. I'm excited to see what the December boxes will hold, what about you?

  2. I've always wanted to try out a monthly subscription box. I remember when Birchbox first started and the idea of receiving beauty samples in the mail every month was so intriguing. Now monthly subscription boxes has turned into an entire industry, and it's so interesting to see the different themes!
I think my favorite one that I've come across so far includes a whole myriad of sheet masks sent to your door every month. Maybe someday when I have more of a disposable income I'd consider it :)

    1. It's definitely amazing to see how far subscription boxes have come over the years, and the huge array of options out there nowadays! It's incredible what a huge industry it has become, and I really do think they are a fantastic way to try new brands and products. I love the idea of a skincare box! I love sheet masks personally but there's very few available in the UK with good ingredients from reputable brands xo

    1. I totally get that. When I used to subscribe to several (Birchbox, Joliebox, SheSaidBeauty AND Glossybox, all at once, ouch my bank!) I used to do the rolling monthly subscription. That way, if I couldn't justify the cost or afford them anymore, it was super easy to cancel, whether permanently or just for the following month or so! The Vegan Kind would definitely be a good one to go for if you wanted some tasty treats and could deduct it (justifiably) from your snack budget :) xo

    1. We've all been there! I do think, although often affordable, subscription boxes ARE a luxury and if you have other financial responsibilities, they are totally OK to let go of. There is a huge choice available now. xo
