Sunday Post #48 | The Advent Calendars

OK, I know we're still in November, but my Christmas planning is almost complete and the advent calendars are already out on the fireplace ready to be started on December 1st. I like to be prepared when it comes to Christmas, this year even more so - it'll be our last Christmas as a '2' before baby arrives and we become a 3. The last few weeks of my pregnancy are going to be smack bang in the middle of the festive season and I want to enjoy our last quiet Christmas, savouring the indulgent eating and festive plans with friends.

Giving me my beauty fix this Christmas is a bath and body themed advent calendar from a brand I'm fairly new to, Bomb Cosmetics. Over the years beauty advent calendars have really picked up popularity, going from the few select brands who used to do them, to now having the option to pick up a beauty themed calendar from a huge variety of brands. I've tried a couple over the years, filled with lovely travel sizes of products from my favourite brands - but this one has to be the one I'm most excited about so far! Not only is it incredibly budget friendly compared to many beauty advent calendars out there, at just £24 it's definitely going to fit more budgets than a lot of the options out there, but it's also perfect for anyone who like me is completely addicted to unwinding with a pampering bath, or with an intense love for handmade soap.

The calendar itself has a pretty generous selection of mini soaps and bath blasters, each handmade with Pure Essential Oils and completely cruelty free. Each has been mixed, pressed, moulded, rolled and shaped by a dedicated Bomb Cosmetics team member, giving each door a surprise beauty treat to you find throughout December. Not only is it an affordable beauty advent calendar for yourself, but if you were wondering what to treat a loved one to this Christmas, this could be the perfect treat - especially for any friends and family who are big on cruelty free products!

Tickling my sweet tooth over the festive season is a pretty darn exciting calendar for couples from Hotel Chocolat. The Truffles for Two advent calendar is the first calendar for couples I've ever come across, filled with delicious Hotel Chocolat treats. Behind each door there are two baby truffles, with a host of delicious flavours including Mulled Wine, Pecan Gingerbread and Cinnamon Praline, in milk and dark chocolate. At £26 it's not the cheapest chocolate advent calendar around, but for the quality - and downright deliciousness - of Hotel Chocolat makes it an indulgent festive treat worth splurging on if you and your significant other fancy sharing a calendar this year.
Available at www.hotelchocolat.com.

What advent calendars are you going for this Christmas? Keep an eye on my Twitter, where each day in December I'll be sharing the Bomb Cosmetics and Hotel Chocolat treats behind each door. I'm already counting down the days until December 1st!

  3. Oooh you picked some really stunning advent calendars and they are actually quite affordable in comparison to some others. I was looking at the bomb cosmetics one, it looks lovely. I didn’t know Hotel Chocolate were doing one so that’s good to know. This year I went for a nail goodies one made by Wilko and snapped it up for £5.00! I also decided to treat myself to a little pre-christmas homemade hamper to enjoy in December. Fabulous post, you have got me in the festive mood!! :-) xx

    1. Definitely affordable. Some beauty advent calendars are hundreds of pounds and for me, just completely unjustifiable! Sounds like you picked up a right bargain :) Glad to have helped you get in the festive mood, Helen! xo

  4. I really like the look of the Bomb Cosmetics one, but I think I'm going to take a break from a beauty calendar this year (what is happening to me?!) I've got one of those fill-it-yourself calendars which I'm filling with yummy chocolates for my boyfriend and I this year :)

    1. There's nothing wrong with having a break from beauty.... but you could always have one beauty and one chocolate one hehe! I want to use homemade ones next Christmas when baby Gizmo will be almost 1! Fill it with little treats and toys xo

  5. Advent calendars look like so much fun! We don't have them here in the states -- I'm jealous of all the lovely bloggers in the UK showing off their surprises :)
Can't wait to see what yours includes!
