This Month's Favourites | October 2015

October is about to disappear, Halloween is taking over for the weekend and November is about to be upon us. I don't know about you, but I for one am more than a little bit excited for what November brings. Bonfire Night, our local fair and of course, the excitement as Christmas draws near. Not forgetting that the closer we get to 2016, the closer my due date gets, but hey, no biggy.

This month has been all about the pampering. The long hot baths, the night time rituals and the subtle changes in my makeup routine switching from summer brights to autumn hues that are deeper and warmer in tone.

I shared the Faith in Nature Coconut Shampoo (£5.50, 400ml) in the September The Vegan Kind box (see review hereand I've been using it a couple of times a week since, really loving the way it makes my hair feel. It cleanses, it has a lovely subtle scent and leaves my hair feeling light and fluffy. A tiny bit goes such a long way and I find this more gentle and effective on my hair than pretty much any other shampoo I've tried before. Absolutely obsessed! When I've finished up all my current shampoos (what can I say, I'm a beauty hoarder) I see this vegan-friendly shampoo being my go-to.

Another shower favourite of mine this month has been The Body Shop Wild Argan Oil Shower Gel (£4, 250ml), which like a lot of The Body Shop products, is so darn budget-friendly! It's my first dabble into the Wild Argan range but I really like the slightly sweet and soothing scent. It lathers up incredibly well and manages to add a touch of softness to my skin as it cleanses away the day.

Hair care wise I've been a bit besotted with an old favourite of mine, one which ended up tucked away in the back of my beauty drawer for a while but which has certainly deserved it's spot on my dresser over the past few weeks. The Beauty Protector range is actually fairly decently priced and is a regular brand to feature in the monthly Birchbox UK boxes. Protect & Detangle (£14, 236ml) is my most reached for post-shower product, a must-have for ensuring my hair is kept soft, tangle-free and easy to style and maintain. Plus it smells absolutely delicious - all the Beauty Protector products seem to be the most beautifully scented, and if that wasn't enough it's vegan-friendly, paraben and sulphate free and works to protect against UV rays and heat, so great for using before your heated styling tools.

I don't know if it's down to laziness or simply liking the quicker makeup looks over the past couple of months, but my brow routine has started to change. It's been a long time since I reached for my beloved waxes, gels or powders, instead I am all about the Bobbi Brown Natural Brow Shaper (£16.50), the only brow product of it's type that I've ever managed to get along with. It is the most effortless and quick way to tame, shape and plump up brows with a lovely lightweight cream-gel formula.

I've been making small changes to my makeup picks throughout October, ready to really get into the swing of Autumn hues come November (I've even got a few cheeky Autumnal themed posts coming your way over the next few weeks, so keep those eyes peeled!). The biggest change has definitely been my lip colour choices and throughout October I have found it impossible to resist one of my favourite Autumn lipsticks, Burberry Lip Cover (£22.50) in the most beautifully wine red, 20. Hibiscus. It's my only Burberry Lip Cover lipstick, being one of the most high-end lip products in my beauty stash, but boy does it get some love at this time of year. It has a beautiful creamy formula that glides on effortlessly providing long-lasting colour with intense pigmentation.

Cheeks have also been getting a touch more warmth than usual, with the beautiful Milani Baked Blush (£4.49) in Rose D'Oro. I shared this in a recent beauty haul (see here) and I've since found Amazon is a much cheaper website to order it from, with the added bonus of free delivery no less! Rose D'Oro is a stunning coral rose with subtle golden undertones. It's just so perfect for this time of year and a shade I think would suit a huge variety of complexions, as it can be lightly applied for a subtle flush of warmth or with more intensity for a real pop of colour.

Since getting pregnant night time has definitely becoming pampering central in the Tattooed Tealady household. I slather on the body oils, I massage every bit of me I can reach and I sink into bed feeling pampered and preened. Last month one of the products which took spotlight in my September Favourites was the Weleda Stretch Mark Massage Oil, which is still a daily must-have product for me (full review here), but a product I always follow it up with definitely deserved the limelight in this month's favourites. Secret Saviours is a brand I have been using throughout my pregnancy, one which will be featuring in a couple of up-coming pregnancy posts (which go live every Tuesday, if you're wondering!), and their Night Cream* (£23.99, 125ml) has become one of the products I look forward to using the most each evening. It has a very lovely scent which is slightly herbal, very subtle and instantly soothing on application, it leaves me feeling incredibly relaxed. More on this beauty in my upcoming post on Pregnancy Essentials + Must-Have Products!

Last but not least and a product which has become invaluable over the past week or so in helping me get off to sleep, the wonderful NEOM Organics Perfect Night's Sleep Pillow Mist* (£20, 30ml). Specially formulated to help you get off to a peaceful night's sleep each night, you simply spritz your pillow with this incredible scent and let the 100% natural blend of Tranquillity work it's magic. The Tranquillity range is one of my favourite scent ranges from NEOM, teaming soft English Lavender with floral French Lavender and a touch of sweet Basil and pretty Jasmine. A must-have for mums-to-be struggling to get a good night's sleep!

    1. Amazon is becoming a really great option for American brands. Most of the time you'll find they have free postage, and must cheaper than UK stockists, too! xo
