Although I've tried many, many dupes over the years, the original Beautyblender has never been beaten for me. It's one of my favourite ways to apply correctors, concealers, bases and most recently, loose setting powders, easily leaving an effortlessly flawless finish and helping to keep makeup in place all day long. When I heard about the newest product to join the Beautyblender family, the handbag favourite Blotterazzi, I was instantly intrigued. A Beautyblender product you use dry? Which will keep you shine free on-the-go, without the need for carrying powders and makeup brushes? Tell me more...
Presented in an incredibly slim compact that's light-weight and has a handy mirror for on-the-go touch ups, the compact houses two innovative blotting cushions. The case has been perfectly designed, with a plastic sheet to section off each Blotterazzi so that they don't touch; great if one has been used and is need of a wash whilst the other stays clean and ready to use. It also has a very handy ventilated back which helps to ensure your sponges stay fresh, dry and ultimately keep any dirt or germs at bay; without the ventilated back you could get a buildup of bacteria, especially if you leave it in your handbag too long between washes. It even comes with a sachet of Beautyblender Liquid Beautycleanser, although I find my Beautyblender Solid Cleanser works just as well to effectively and thoroughly clean my Blotterazzi's.
Whereas the original Beautyblender you'd use on a morning to apply your makeup is a round sponge which when wet expands, this is a very slim teardrop shaped sponge which is meant to be used dry. Made with latex-free Hydrophilic Polyurethane, it has that same soft, bouncy texture as the original Beautyblender and is very comfortable to use on your skin. Using the Blotterazzi is incredibly simple; you simply dab it onto any areas where you are prone to oiliness or are experiencing excess shine, and within seconds the Blotterazzi leaves your makeup looking matte. I also find that, if like me you carry concealer around with you for emergency touch-ups, that it works really well to apply and blend a touch of concealer whilst leaving your overall makeup looking evenly applied. You'd use the Blotterazzi in exactly the same way you would a blotting sheet, except this is so much more effective and also looks better than patting paper on your face in public! I also find it much easier and quicker than having to carry around setting powders and a brush, taking up less space in my handbag and being something I can quickly whip out, use and tuck away again.
There's no denying the original Beautyblender has taken the beauty world by storm over recent years, and I think the Blotterazzi is about to join it as the must-have product for your handbag. I'm massively impressed with how effectively it battles shine and excess oil, whilst still leaving my makeup looking fresh and intact, and I'm a big fan of the slender, light-weight compact. I think it's fab that each Blotterazzi includes two blotting cushions, with the divider and ventilated back being brilliant additions to the design. Definitely an essential for me and much easier than carting around powders and makeup brushes.
