The Sunday Post #45

A picture of Lush products
“I have come to accept myself for what I am: human. I am not perfect. I am not immune to fate, but I am not automatically doomed for being alive. I feel temptations every second of every day and I am not controlled by them. I do what I want anyway, so who is to say I want anything else? When I want, I let these peculiarities run across me like dogs to their masters. When I do not, I keep them at bay with my will and my testimony. I do not cut myself off from what makes me feel; I just refuse to feel anything that cuts me off from what matters most. It is called will power. With a little practice, you can accomplish great things."
Corey Taylor, Seven Deadly Sins: Settling the argument between born bad and damaged good.
It's been awhile since one of my Sunday posts was a little catch up between you and I, and with a busy week been and gone, I thought today was the perfect time for that long overdue catch up.

As you may have noticed over the past couple of weeks, the daily posts are back in full force and I've really enjoyed putting together regular content for you all again. They say that in your 2nd trimester your energy levels rise again and I think over the past few weeks that has definitely been the case for me. Despite a growing bump and a very active Gizmo, I've found myself finally sleeping better, able to get up at a more reasonable time again and being overall more productive. How long this will last, I don't know - but I've definitely got the blogging bug back and my love for this blog has become stronger because of that. When I stopped posting everyday it was a very odd time for me; this blog has always been updated at least once daily but the change in my energy levels as well as my priorities meant that my heart just wasn't into blogging as much as it used to. I'm glad that didn't last long (although far longer than I would have liked, to be honest) and I know it'll be a balancing act once the baby is here, but I am determined that this blog will continue to be a place my readers can come for varied and daily content.

With that in mind, there's been a few more changes in the look, layout and interactive side of Tattooed Tealady, a running theme for 2015 where I have finally started to gain more confidence in making changes to the layout, look and theme of Tattooed Tealady, learning a little bit more basic HTML and a lot more SEO as I go along. If you're a PC/laptop user you may have noticed that a few days ago my sidebar changed again. This time the individual categories which I write about here on Tattooed Tealady have new, smaller icons which are just below the little introduction to me and this blog, and I also added a couple of new icons. You can now click these icons to be taken directly to all the posts within that category; including makeup, skincare, body care, hair care, life, pregnancy, food and books. As well as this I have gotten back on the directory update, and each day I am adding in more reviews which have featured on Tattooed Tealady over the past 3-4 years; have you checked out my directory yet?

Something else you may have noticed over the past few months is that Tattooed Tealady has more of a balance between the different categories I like to write about. Although beauty has and always will be the predominant theme, it's not the subject I concentrate the most on anymore and as well as more lifestyle and book themed posts which have become more regular throughout 2015, there has been a rise in pregnancy posts and most recently, food reviews. I hope you're enjoying the new variety in content I am sharing and if there is anything in particular you'd like to see from here on in, I'd love for you to share your ideas with me!

You might have noticed that the photo for today's Sunday post is a pretty big Lush haul - I was going to write an individual post on my most recent Lush haul, but I've actually decided to do individual reviews of each product instead. I've been indulging in Lush a lot more than usual (and they were already a pretty big regular in my daily routine!) as their products are safe to use during pregnancy, and now that some of the new products have been rolled out online and in store - see more on that here - I've found Lush impossible to resist. With so many new products joining my Lush collection, they definitely deserve some individual in-depth reviews and I'm actually pretty excited to be sharing more Lush reviews over the coming months, as it's a brand I used to feature a lot more regularly when I first started Tattooed Tealady.

I can't believe we're already 2 weeks into September. Autumn officially starts on September 22nd and the countdown to Christmas has definitely begun in the Tattooed Tealady household. Autumn is always my favourite time of year and I'm so excited for the crunch of golden leaves and cosy evenings with comfort food and autumn candles burning away. What's your favourite thing about autumn?

There's a lot to come on Tattooed Tealady this week, so I'll leave this little catch up here for now, but I'd love to hear what you've been up to lately too! If you too are a blogger and you have been changing things up on your own blog, I'd love for you to share your blog links with me below - and if you're a reader I'd love to know what makes a blog more enjoyable for you?

    1. I think it's good to have a nice balance of different topics :) Very few blogs I followed when I first started Tattooed Tealady which were all beauty, are still all beauty. The majority now include lifestyle posts as well as other topics xo

  2. Long time reader and love that you have a good mix of topics. I started with the idea of being 75% pregnancy / baby and then beauty, general life ramblings for the rest. To date this kid has taken over big style! I was determined to not be that woman that was baby obsessed but it's totally been the case :s. I'm finally starting to have a little bit of time and head space for non baby related things so hoping to get a bit more of that into the blog! Lilsmirror.blogspot.co.uk

    1. Thanks so much for your continued support Lil! I don't think there's anything wrong with blogging about your baby, having a baby is such a huge life change and also, a huge personality change. Gizmo isn't even here yet and I already feel like a different person. I'm going to try and stick to one post a week being baby related, at tops two! Let's see how long that lasts haha xo

    1. I am slowly updating old posts too! Just to make sure that all content on Tattooed Tealady is in the same format. Very time consuming, but it also feels very rewarding to see it all fitting together nicely :) xo
