KIKO Power Pro Nail Lacquer

Nail polish. When I was younger it was probably one of the things I bought the most, always popping into Boots to see which new shades the likes of Barry M or 17 had brought out. I had boxes full of nail polishes in every shade you could imagine! It was like a never-ending collection (or perhaps, obsession?) with every Boots visit ending in at least a few more to add to my monster stash.

But then I just stopped. Nail polish stopped grabbing my attention, I had most of the shades in the Barry M range which was the range I liked the most, and I wasn't too fussed by the other formulas by high-street brands. I started moving onto high-end polishes but after a while my love for those died down too. It seemed silly to be spending £10 and more on a single polish when I had so many that I never used. Over the past few years I have had to force myself to go through those boxes time and time again, getting rid of shades I never use any more, parting with shades which are too similar, trying to whittle down my collection. Although I throw out dozens each time, I'm still left with more than I could ever use.

With no new shades and high-street brands failing to impress me, my love for polishes almost all but died away. I still do my nails every week, but the excitement I used to get when I'd give myself at at-home manicure in my teens has never been the same. That is, until a new brand came into my life, sparking that love for beautiful polishes all over again. A brand I never would have considered to be a contender for a chip-free long-lasting polish.

The KIKO Power Pro Nail Lacquer range boosts an impressive 45 shades, and that's in this range alone - KIKO have quite a few nail lacquer ranges in their ever-expanding beauty range, with just as many shades in each! At £4.90 they're pretty reasonably priced for a polish and still fit nicely into the high-street category, decent in size at 11ml each. One of KIKO's 5-Free Nail Polish ranges, they have been formulated without the unnecessary harsh ingredients many polishes include; they're free from Toluene, Camphor, DBP, Formaldehyde Resin and Formaldehyde.

Created to provide salon-quality finishes with a lasting power of up to 7 days, they have an incredibly smooth consistency that is a touch thicker than a lot of polishes I've tried, but glides on super-easily for an opaque, streak-free finish. Whereas I find a lot of polishes need 2-3 coats to provide an opaque colour, these provide intense colour in 2 coats guaranteed every time. Each rounded brush has 1,000 bristles which work to follow the natural shape of your nail, allowing even and precise application.

The first time I used these polishes I was incredibly impressed. Quite a few times now I've described KIKO as the brand to watch out for, a must-try brand for any beauty lover, and their new Power Pro Nail Lacquer range has just proved that even more. Their products are of incredible quality for such affordable prices and their polishes have impressed me just as much as their makeup and body care. The colours are beautiful, the bottles stand-out from my other polishes and the lasting power is seriously impressive, lasting at least 7 days chip-free with a trusty base and top coat. Another impressive range from KIKO!

KIKO Power Pro Nail Lacquers cost £4.90, available in-store and online www.kikocosmetics.com.

  2. I have never used any of their polishes, but they sound great and I love a chip free formula. I've been faithful to Essie polishes for a long time now but I should definitely try a few of these given the price difference!

    1. I love the shades that Essie offer but I find they always, always chip on me, and really badly too! These are definitely more affordable xo

  5. Everything I've tried from KIKO has not been a disappointment, and I think I'm going to have to give these polishes a go and see if they can rekindle my own dwindling love for a good nail polish!
