One thing I have always said about high-end brands, is that they really don't do offers enough. Whether that be discounts for 10% off of their products, or an actual beauty sale where their products are drastically reduced in price. There's only one brand that comes to mind when it comes to high-end beauty sales, and that's Illamasqua. As for discounted products, unless they're a brand featured in Debenhams, House of Fraser or John Lewis when they're competing against each other in 'price wars' (and even then, some of the more premium brands are never included in the offer), you better keep dreaming of those high-end discounts. So when the opportunity came about for a completely free no strings attached Burberry lipstick? I can't lie, I jumped at the chance!
I've tried Burberry before, and I actually really love the products from them that I have tried. I have a lipstick and eyeshadow in my beauty stash, both which are some of the most luxurious beauty products I have ever owned with incredible quality and formulas, with beautiful shades that I just adore. I've also tried a Burberry mascara before, quite some time ago now not long after I started this blog, which was just utterly incredible. The only reason I don't buy Burberry regularly is because they are a very high-end brand, and when it comes to brands whose prices are in the same bracket as Burberry, I like to be able to see the products in-store; give them a swatch and test to see if they're worth the splurge. Nottingham is quite lucky beauty wise, we have all the usual department stores and we're even lucky enough to have a Space NK, but for brands like Burberry it'd be a trip to London for me.
Back in March Burberry started something amazing. If you have Twitter, you may have seen the tweets in question - but basically, Burberry were giving makeup adorers the chance to tweet people with a link that would give them a free Burberry Kisses lipstick sample. Obviously, I had to get in on this and after someone sent me a tweet with my very own link, I tweeted as many people as Burberry would allow me to, so they could grab their own Burberry Kisses lipstick sample too.
There were four shades on offer, and as the Burberry lipstick I have in my beauty stash is a very bold berry shade that I adore in autumn and winter, I decided to go for something more subtle and natural; Nude Pink. When it arrived I was definitely one of those annoying girls that swooned over how cute and adorable the tiny little lipstick is - as a sample it's obviously not huge but would easily last a while, even if you were wearing it every single day. Nude Pink is a very pretty muted nude with pink undertones that is lovely for spring looks, and feels as beautiful in formula as my beloved Hibiscus.
I really do love that Burberry did this. For a high-end, no scratch that, a premium brand, to celebrate the launch of their new Kisses lipstick range by getting involved with beauty adorers on social media and offering free samples, it's amazing. Of course the aim here with Burberry was to attract people to their new range, get the word out as much as possible and maybe even get a few of those who received a sample to invest in the full size - and after trying Nude Pink I have to admit, I think I will definitely be one of those people. Nude Pink is beautiful and I think it needs to be a permanent addition in my lipstick collection!
Did you get a Burberry Kisses lipstick sample? If so, which shade did you go for? If you liked this campaign from Burberry and think more brands should do something similar, let me know which brands you'd like to see get in on the action!
