March has been a funny month. It's still cold like winter, but with the sun shining more and more each day, I've found myself wanting to turn to more spring-typical shades. I've spent much of March changing my look on a daily basis, not quite sure if it's time for brighter spring looks, but not wanting to stay in the dark hues of winter.
Because I'm still stuck in winter-mode despite wanting to reach for spring and summer shades, my base and skin has been a lot more toned down than usual. I've been loving the more natural look recently, using products that enhance my features without looking too stark or over the top. When I'm not in the mood for a full contour/highlight, I've been turning to my Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer in Light/Medium. It's the perfect bronzer for warming up your complexion and just the right tone to look nicely bronzed - no hint of orange in sight! I have a travel size which came in my Too Faced Blogger Darlings set, with the full size retailing at £25. Even better? Because it's enriched with anti-oxidant rich cocoa powder, it actually smells like chocolate!
For blush I've been completely and utterly addicted to the new Max Factor Creme Puff Blush range, in particular shade 10 Nude Mauve* which is a really pretty and subtle nude with hint of warm mauve. It makes such a lovely blush for an everyday look, great for transitioning from winter to spring. At £8.99 they're not the cheapest blushes on the high-street, but the formula, finish and longevity is perfect and makes them well worth the price in my opinion. I've got a full review of this range coming up later this week, including a full run-down of all shades in the range - so keep an eye out!
I'm hooked on my Ben Nye Banana Luxury Loose Powder again, finding it the perfect powder for setting my makeup and in particular, setting under-eye concealers for a brighter look. I've raved about this time and time again - you can check out my comparison post 'Ben Nye VS Soap & Glory' for a more in-depth review. This one varies in price depending on where you find it, but it lasts forever!
For eyes there's two products I can't get enough of right now, both from Clarins. 02 Nude Pink from the Clarins Ombre Matte Cream-to-Powder Eyeshadow range is the perfect shade for neutralising colour, providing a subtle wash of colour and even better for working with other shadows as a base. I'm a big fan of this range, a little pricer than you're average individual shadows at £19, you can find out why I think they're so amazing in my rave review here.
For effortlessly lengthening my lashes whilst creating - and holding - a curl with ease, I've been turning to the Clarins Truly Waterproof Mascara almost every single day. By far one of my favourite mascaras ever, and one of the few high-end mascaras I've repurchased, it gives me everything I want from a mascara in just one coat. At £21.50, it's definitely a high-end purchase, but the formula, quality and effect it gives my lashes is worth it. You can check out a full review here.
Last but not least on the makeup front, a spring shade I've found impossible to resist even on those more natural toned-down makeup days, is my one and only Dior lipstick. From the Rouge Dior Lipstick range, 028 Mazette is a beautiful pinky coral shade that instantly brightens any look. By far my most expensive lipstick at £26, it has a stunning formula that's soft and light-weight, great colour pay-off and a very subtle shine finish that makes my lips look full and voluptuous.
Tons of fab makeup ended up featuring in my favourites this month, but there's one very special skincare product I had to mention too. Vegan-friendly White Rabbit Skincare is a brand I have been introduced to by TheVeganKind monthly subscription boxes - a brand which has featured a couple of times now, and the latest product from them which featured in the February box has left me absolutely smitten. The Toning Eye Cream costs just £8 for 15ml and is by far one of the best eye creams I've ever come across. Working to tighten and firm the delicate skin under our eyes whilst helping to reduce dark circles and puffiness all whilst repairing damaged skin with an antioxidant and vitamin packed formula, it has made my eyes look and feel amazing. It's quite a thick cream, but once applied it sinks into skin with ease and leaves an instantly hydrated and plumped feel. I would repurchase this over my high-end eye creams, without a shadow of a doubt!
What products stood out for you the most this month? Have you moved onto spring appropriate shades yet, or still enjoying the deeper, darker shades we all love in winter? I'm looking forward to playing around with my makeup more in April, the spring lipsticks and blushes are going to come out in full force!
