Illamasqua Precision Brow Gel

For years now I have been in a long love affair with brow powders. For me, they were the easiest way to do my brows, and I never thought I'd love another type of brow product as much. That was until I tried the Illamasqua Precision Brow Gel.

I've tried a few types of brow products over the years. I started with brow pencils, which for me at least was a complete disaster, I've tried waxes and powders and brow 'gels' in the format similar to mascara, with a mascara wand to apply the product. But a full on brow gel in a pot? Completely new to me, and at first I wasn't sure how I'd feel about it. I find it easiest to work with powders and adore my Benefit BrowZings or HD Brows Foxy Palette, but the formula is miles apart from the Illamasqua Precision Brow Gel.

With four shades within the range; Strike, Glimpse, Stare and Awe, there's a Precision Brow Gel to suit everyone covering different skin types and hair colours. Presented in a glass pot with the sleek packaging akin to Illamasqua products, the brow gel itself has a cream-gel hybrid formula which is water-resistant and has a very soft texture.

I have been using the shade Glimpse*, a shade which at first I thought was going to be a touch too much on the light side for me because I'm so used to my dark, dark brow powders, and yet it's worked out to be the perfect shade for me. I use the Illamasqua Angled Brush*, £19.50, to apply, which manages to pick up the perfect amount of product (with a light hand, don't go shoving the brush in there as the formula is pretty soft and a little goes a long way!) and applies like a dream, working to create thicker, fuller looking brows and effortlessly creating any shape you desire.

When applying there's time to amend any mistakes or perfect the shape, but once it's set you're pretty much set for the rest of the day until you come to remove your makeup. The water-resistant formula is amazing, and unlike brow powders which after a long day can look a bit worn in and less defined than when first applied, the Precision Brow Gel leaves my brows looking freshly applied from the moment I apply up until I remove my makeup at night.

I thought brow powders would be my go-to product for brows forever, yet since the Precision Brow Gel arrived I haven't used any other product when it comes to doing my brows. For weeks and weeks now, Glimpse has been my everyday go-to product and I'm completely smitten. I haven't even been tempted to reach for my brow powders, from first use it's been utter adoration. Everything from the formula to the way my brows look freshly applied all day long, I'm smitten.

At £18.50 it's not the cheapest brow product you can get your hands on, but a hell of a lot cheaper than my brow powders and after using mine everyday for weeks, I'm yet to make a dent in it. A little goes such a long way, and gosh, I really am smitten with the dreamy and incredibly long-lasting formula. I'm completely converted, Illamasqua Precision Brow Gel has taken top spot as my favourite brow product ever.

  2. Like you I used to rely on BrowZings until trying Precision Brow Gel and now I'll only very rarely use anything else. It's just perfect!

    1. Honestly at first I was REALLY reluctant - I just didn't know how I'd fair with a gel formula. Now? I don't know how I've gone so long without this in my life! Amazing product from Illamasqua, as always with their products I'm so super impressed xo

  4. I've never tried brow gel but Illamasqua would definitely be the brand to go to if I was going to try it, as every Illamasqua staff member all have fabulous brows! Also love that it's a two-in-one!

  5. I really want to try this in the shade Strike! I don't think the price is too bad to be honest - as you say products like this last forever and it's still cheaper than Benefit's Brow Zings xx

    1. Definitely. Yes OK it's not exactly cheap, but when you think about how long it'll last I think it makes the price very decent. Especially as it's so much cheaper than my regular powder brow products xo

  6. I really like the sound of this! I wonder how it compares to Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade? I use that at the moment and it's soooo much better than when I was using a powder! x

    1. I haven't tried the Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade, so I'd actually be interested to see how they compare - although that said, I'm so smitten with the Precision Brow Gel that I don't think I'd need to give another brow gel a try! xo

    1. Is that similar formula wise? I have to admit, I never considered MAC for a brow gel xo
