I've really enjoyed the Birchbox products and themes so far in 2015, so I was hoping for big things from the March box. Did it deliver? Let's delve in and see...
First off, the box itself is beautiful this month! Birchbox have teamed up with Habitat for the March box* and the box is a colourful, bright and cheery design that's sure to lift your mood. I really adore when Birchbox design their boxes opposed to the standard pale brown boxes, as I tend to use the boxes for storage afterwards and when they're super pretty like this, they're perfect! The collaboration with Habitat is all in aid of this month's theme, 'Do try this at home', with fab tips and ideas included in the inserts inside the box to motivate you to DIY; whether it's sprucing up your home or at-home pampering for yourself. There's also an exclusive discount for Birchbox subscribers to grab 20% off at Habitat, which is such a fab discount!
Pretty box aside, there's seven products included inside the March box; five beauty products and two lifestyle products, with quite a mixed bag. I'm a bit 50/50 with this month's products, some I love and can't wait to try, others aren't really my cup of tea.
Benefit Roller Lash Mascara, £17.50
All Birchbox subscribers had the chance to select the Benefit sample of their choice this month between the three mascaras Benefit do; They're Real!, BADgal Lash and the newest release and mascara, Roller Lash. I received a sample of Roller Lash which promises perfect lashes. I'm looking forward to giving this a proper try, I wonder if it'll live up to They're Real! and BADgal, both of which I adore!
Catherine Malandrino Style de Paris Eau de Parfum, £50
Perfume samples are like Marmite; you either love them or hate them, and personally I love them (although I hate Marmite!). I think they're a great way to try a scent before investing in the full-size, especially when it comes to high-end brands. Described as a playful and sophisticated scent with citrus top notes and a fruity twist, I can see this being another one I add to my 'to buy' list!
Philip Kingsley Smooth Cream, £18
I like Philip Kingsley, and there's a few products I've tried through beauty boxes which have ended up staples in my routine. That said, it seems like they feature in practically every month's Birchbox and it'd be really nice to see some more brands featured. Nonetheless I'm actually really excited to try the Smooth Cream as I've only tried one styling product from Philip Kingsley so far, and it makes a change to the usual shampoo, conditioner or treatment samples!
TanOrgaic Self Tanning Oil, £24.99
Unfortunately this sample isn't for me. I had a phase of loving tanning products a couple of years back but I just don't have the time to apply them or do the upkeep - and with getting tattooed regularly, tanning is just a big no-no! I'll be passing this on to a tanning-obsessed friend, who will hopefully get some good use out of it. Described as a natural-looking tan which also works to moisturise the skin, it's the world's first ever tanning oil.
Janjira Pomegranate & Acai Facial Scrub Cleanser, £24
Three of my favourite things in one; Pomegranate, Acai and skincare. I am so, so excited to give this a try, especially as I've seen some incredible reviews of Janjira skincare products. Described as a gentle exfoliating cleanser with fruit extracts and Vitamin E energy, it aims to brighten and smooth the complexion.
Birchbox & Habitat Exclusive Notebook
I love the little lifestyle extras that Birchbox include each month and this little notebook is going to be perfect for jotting down ideas and product wishlists, the perfect size for popping in your handbag, too!
A Perfect Heritage by Penny Vincenzi, £7.99
Last but not least, this is another product I was really excited to find in the March Birchbox, and it's a sample read of A Perfect Heritage by Penny Vincenzi. It's no secret I'm a complete bookworm, so I'm eager to give this a read and see if the book is worth a purchase.
What are your thoughts on this month's Birchbox? Overall I'm pretty happy with the products included, although I won't get any use out of the tanning oil - all the other products included are something I will use and a few I'm excited to try out! I don't think this is the best Birchbox I've ever received, but you can't have an amazing box every month and for the price, it's still a great selection and variety of products and brands.
For those of you new to Birchbox, it's a monthly subscription service which includes a selection of samples covering beauty and lifestyle costing £10 a month plus p&p. There's still time to subscribe to the March box, and even select your own Benefit mascara sample - and keep an eye out for the April box, which will be featuring Laura Mercier! You can find out more and subscribe to Birchbox here.
