Although the products and brands I use will change every now and then, generally my cleansers, toners, eye creams and moisturisers stay the same in what they do for my skin benefits wise throughout the year. When the seasons change the main thing I used to change in my routine was the type of moisturiser I was using, opting to use heavier, thicker moisturising creams in the colder months. Over the past few years I've learnt how to understand and care for my skin a lot better than I used to, and my tactics for keeping my skin happy have massively changed. I now concentrate more on treatments and 'extra' products in my routine that can soothe, repair, nourish and hydrate. Products I'll add into my routine as and when I need them or for a longer periods of time to get my skin back to a happy, balanced state.

One of the most beneficial changes I've made to my skincare routine in the long-term is using acid toners. I think the word acid can be quite scary for anyone when they're thinking about buying a skincare product that contains it, but there are a whole host of products out there that use safe acids that greatly improve the texture and overall health of our skin. I've tried a few over the past year or so and have some favourites, but for the price I am a huge fan of the Bravura Purifying Calendula 13% AHA Toner*, which is super budget-friendly at £8.39 for 100ml. After just one use I noticed how much smoother and softer my skin felt, a product I reach for 3-4 nights a week and always look forward to using. My skin looks brighter and clearer within just a few minutes, and that's before applying all my other lovely skincare products! With an incredibly soothing and calming scent of Calendula, it's an effective facial astringent which normalises pH whilst helping to fight bacteria. Aimed at normal and problem skin, it's most effective for oiliness and break-outs.

Nourish Argan Skin Rescue will see me through my third winter now, a product I have repurchased before and would happily again, it's one of the long-standing hero products in my skincare stash. At £18.90 for 15ml it's not the most budget-friendly product, but it's one I reach for only on occasion and so for me it works out well price wise. If my skin is feeling particularly uneven in texture, dry or tight, I'll use Argan Skin Rescue for a few evenings and my skin is soon back to a harmonious, happy state. Restoring flexibility and brightening the complexion, it's a deeply nourishing oil (which feels more like a serum in texture) which uses active ingredients as a perfect overnight pampering treat for your skin. It helps to combat the formation of wrinkles by strengthening important protein bonding structures in our skin with an anti-irritation complex that protects against harmful free radicals. It's also great for reducing and repairing our skin, including acne, eczema and psoriasis. Swap this with your favourite overnight mask a couple of nights a week, and you'll be left with blissfully happy skin.

One for the mornings is the Nude Progenuis Omega Treatment Oil which is one of the few oils I've tried that can be used every morning, whether you're going to wear makeup or not, because it leaves no trace on the skin. There's no unnecessary greasy or oily residue, with a formula that quickly and efficiently sinks in, leaving a velvet soft feel to skin. Continued daily use has left my skin looking and feeling healthier, with a signature blend of 10 carefully selected plant oils which are rich in Omegas 3, 6, 7 and 9. Working to calm redness, protect from ageing stress, smooth, deeply hydrate and nourish, it leaves skin brightened and radiant, soft to the touch with a healthy, natural glow. At £58 for 30ml, it's a pricey oil, but like all facial oils is set to last absolutely ages (most of mine last around 9-12 months with daily use).

Antonia Burrell Pure Therapy Facial Oil Serum* is a powerful and effective natural skincare products that I've introduced into my routine as a nightly treatment, full to the brim with 21 plant extracts and patented bio-actives. Regulating the natural balance of problem skin, it works by deeply penetrating the skin to calm, purify, heal and refine, slowing the effects of aging, increasing collagen and aiding natural defence mechanisms against oxidative stress. The way it makes my skin feel is phenomenal; it makes me feel as if I have a new, fresh, supple layer of skin that's young and radiant, soft and smooth in texture . My skin in general has also greatly improved since using Pure Therapy daily, with areas of irritation and redness greatly improved. With stress-melting Vetiver, patented Date Palm Kernel Extract, Organic Sandalwood, Tea Seed, Kiwi Seed and Melaleuca Viridiflora Leaf Extract, it's yet another product from Antonia Burrell to add to the favourites pile. At £58.80 for 15ml it's not cheap, but if it's within your budget I cannot recommend trying the Pure Therapy Facial Oil Serum enough, it's become a real skin saviour and hero product in my stash.
