Purminerals Hot Rocks Review

A picture of award-winning Purminerals Hot Rocks
Although Purminerals is a brand I've known of almost as long as I've written this blog, it's still a relatively new brand for me. There's not much I've tried from the brand, although they are a brand which intrigues me. Purminerals is a mineral based makeup and skincare brand whose products are 100% cruelty free and free from Mineral Oil, SLS, Lanolin, PetroLatum, DEA, Formaldehyde and Hydroquinone. I've been trying out the award winning Purminerals Hot Rocks*, a product which won the Natural Health's Best Blush award (2010) Let's see what this award winner is like, shall we?

Purminerals Hot Rocks (£23.60) are encased in a petite square cardboard box with a clear top so you can see the product inside. There's 12g of product, which is pretty decent for a high-end blush, and I also really love how it looks with the rocks being visible. Pressed, micronized minerals in a three-dimensional design, the shades are just beautiful; a mix of pale pearls, rose golds and bronzy pinks.

Using a dense blush brush (I find the EcoTools Blush Brush (£8.95) perfect), I swish my brush over the Hot Rocks several times to get enough product, before applying lighting to the apples of my cheeks and slightly up towards my cheekbones. The powder feels soft and delicate when on, but is effortless to blend once applied and can also be layered fairly easily if you want a colour with more oomph. The shade reminds me of a very finely milled MAC Stereo Rose, which is a very popular product that pops up every now and then as a limited edition product - this would make such a lovely alternative. Longevity wise, I do find if I'm out all day then I need to touch up and add a little more, but otherwise it's a great everyday blush. I'm quite impressed. Usually I steer clear of products like this, preferring either a cream, pressed or loose powder to rocks, but I really love the colour these Hot Rocks create.

Have you tried Purminerals before? Will you be trying out Hot Rocks for yourself? Let me know!

  6. I love natural beauty products and that looks so pretty! I'm only a very occasional make-up user but I do like to keep an eye out for nice natural mineral products for the rare times when I do splash out.
