This time last week, I was on a train to London with my partner for a night away. We both work really hard and he works super long hours at work, so any chance to wind down is always welcomed with open arms. Usually? We spent most of our time at home, indulging in the few days we get where we have absolutely nothing at all to do. After a hectic few months, we decided we needed a night away, and soon we began planning an overnight stay in London. When Friday morning came around, we packed our case, had our last cup of tea and made our way to London.

When we got to London we made our way over to our hotel for the night, CitizenM. I'd never stayed in CitizenM before, who have hotels in London, Glasgow, Amsterdam, Paris, New York and Rotterdam, but had heard rave reviews from friends who had stayed in both the London and Amsterdam hotels. I had high expectations, being told how hi-tech and modern the hotel was, and CitizenM did not disappoint.

As soon as we walked in I was taken aback by how amazing everything looked. I've been in my fair share of hotels, but never has a hotel been so adorned with beautiful artifacts, ornaments and displays, home to so many of my interests. It felt like everywhere I looked, there was something that fascinated me. The lobby was big and spacious, with easy-to-use computers for check-in and a pop-up book-store as soon as you walk in. Downstairs is home to several reception areas, both indoors and outdoors, a bar, food counters and free wifi access 24/7.

Our room was amazing; compact, but with all the essentials and some seriously cool features. The entire room was controlled by a Samsung tablet, from the curtain and blind, to the TV, room temperature, air conditioning and even mood lighting. You could do literally anything with the tablet, with free movies, more channels than you could get through and access to any app or social network your heart desires. The bed was absolutely enormous, a massive XL King sized bed that was incredibly comfy; super firm with the most perfect pillows and the coolest feature for me? A rain shower! I was smitten.

After what was easily one of the best nights sleep either of us have had in a long time, we headed down to breakfast before making our way home. We both decided on a firm favourite; a full English. With a help-yourself breakfast station and counter, everything was easy to find and looked super fresh and delicious. Our breakfasts were really tasty, with all the usual breakfast culprits and ice cold fresh orange juice that was the perfect finishing touch. Check out followed, which was just as easy as checking in - and we got to keep our door keys as souvenirs (fun fact; you can use your door key to check in and out of any CitizenM hotel!)

Neither of us wanted to leave, CitizenM was an amazing hotel to stay in and suited both of our styles and tastes perfectly. The location was fantastic, just a short walk from the Tate Modern and nearby tube stations, Waterloo and London Bridge. The staff were a true credit to CitizenM; polite, welcoming and with a fun and upbeat atmosphere, it made our CitizenM stay the perfect getaway. Couldn't recommend CitizenM enough.
