Come the weekend I start reaching for products I know will help me fake a radiant, Spring perfect look. As soon as Friday starts I'm in weekend mood; long lie-ins, late nights, snacking all day long and being gloriously lazy. Downside? I'm left with dark circles and puffy eyes, a dull and uneven complexion and a challenge to make myself look normal.
Starting with those dark circles, which are quickly disguised with the help of Soap & Glory Kick Ass Concealer (Boots, £10), the perfect compact for neutralising skin tone whilst concealing well. With the flashes of warmer weather and a touch of sunshine, all my winter bases have been pushed out for my beloved Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation (Boots, 30ml, £10.99) My favourite and go-to drugstore base, I love the medium coverage with the loveliest light-weight, soothing gel formula that feels comfortable and calming when applied. It lasts well, especially when up against my oily skin, leaving a gorgeous, natural dewy finish. Because I match my bases as closely to my natural skin tone as possible, adding any natural highlight is left down to the coveted YSL Touche Eclat (Boots, £25) (currently available in a swish limited edition design!), which really is as good as everyone says. A touch along my brow bone, down the center of my nose, cupids bow, chin and a slight touch under my eyes, the perfect amount of radiance. A swipe of KIKO Skinny Fit Kajal (KIKO*, £6.90) in Intonation Shell across my waterline, and I'm left with brighter, more awake eyes.
For the perfect flush of colour to my cheeks that looks natural look healthy and glowing, I've dug out my favourite Bourjois Cream Blushes (Boots, £7.99) in shades 01 Nude Velvet and 02 Healthy Glow. Always easy to work with, I love both shades for this time of year and will opt for Nude Velvet on a normal day, Healthy Glow if I'm venturing out. A touch of the new Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet (Boots, £8.99) in Peach Club and my lips have enough colour to pull off a muted coral nude look, tying in perfectly with the rest of my staples. To keep my brows in place and looking (a lot) better than they do alone, I'll be adding a touch to the new Benefit Gimme Brow Gel (LookFantastic*, £17.50) which has taken me a bit of getting used to, but overall I like it. I don't think it adds fibers to my brows at all, and I have pretty sparse brows so I was hoping a product marketed as thickening and enhancing brows, would be the product I've been waiting for. Unfortunately not, if you have sparse brows like me one is just not meant to be. But for a gel to tame, tidy and keep my brows in place with a touch of added colour, they do the job nicely. I start with the paler shade to build up shape, then go over with the darker of the two. A finishing touch of Benefit POREfessional Agent Zero Shine (LookFantastic, £23.50) and I'm set for the day.
What are your weekend keepers? Do you use any of these? Or maybe you think there's a product I should add to my staples? Let me know!
