The budget face mask

The Body Shop Honey & Oat 3-in-1 Scrub Mask
The Body Shop Honey & Oat 3-in-1 Scrub Mask
I love skincare, I really do, but sometimes the prices of products can be enough to make you weep. Face masks are a regular part of my skincare routine and a lovely extra step that I think everyone should indulge in. A step much easier to pop into your routine if there's a mask that fulfills all it's promises, and has a pretty decent price. That's how I feel about The Body Shop Honey & Oat 3-in-1 Scrub Mask (TheBodyShop*, 100ml, £10), easily the best budget-friendly face mask I've tried in a while.

Presented in a little round pot the Honey & Oat mask, as you can imagine, smells absolutely delicious. The honey used for Honey & Oat comes from Community Fair Trade honey, all the way from Bezamar in Ethiopia, sourced using traditional methods. Honey is an incredibly beneficial ingredient for the skin, all over the body and even our hair all whilst smelling delicious (I defy anyone not to want to eat this mask!) Promising to gently remove dead skin cells, smooth and refine the skin, as well as moisturising and conditioning, Honey & Oat is a gentle face mask that feels soothing and calming on the skin. Although in the pot the consistency of the mask looks very lumpy and thick, it's actually delightfully light and has a good consistency, making application easy and mess-free despite the oats inside.

After cleansing I have been turning to Honey & Oats twice a week, using a foundation brush to apply to my face and neck, leaving it on for 10-15 minutes. Using my favourite Bodhi Bamboo Cotton Cloth (BeautyBay, £5) I then gently massage the mask off. Although there's oats in there, which work to exfoliate and smooth the skin, it still feels like a very gentle mask even when taking it off. It's not abrasive on the skin and although it may not be suitable for someone with super sensitive skin, I'd recommend this mask for any skin type. After use my skin is left feeling softer, smoother and definitely brighter, with a clearer and happier complexion. A decent sized 100ml pot, I think you could easily get 12-15 uses which for £10, is a real bargain. I'm really quite impressed!

The Body Shop currently have some fantastic offers on, including a 50% off sale. If you think Honey & Oat might work for you too, you can snap it up with 40% off using discount code 14668 - a discount which can be applied to any non-sale products on The Body Shop website (valid until 14/04/14)

  2. This sounds really nice! I've never really looked at it as I've always thought it's for dry skin and mine is definitely oily, but if it works well for you I may have to look into it a bit further!! Lovely review, thank you for sharing :)

  9. £10 isn't budget friendly for most of us! I'd say that most masks are overpriced and this is a less overpriced, overpriced one, haha!
