Sunday have always been the universal lazy day, the last day of the weekend before another hectic week begins. Today my partner and I are off for early breakfast with his family, which means I will accidentally end up popping into a few shops (Boots, I'm looking at you!) and using up some more Christmas gift cards. It's not all fun and games though; my to-do list when I get home is longer than my arm. I like to take advantage of the stereotypical Sunday and use it to catch up on my latest TV addition (currently back on Buffy, but if you can recommend any addictive TV shows, especially American, I'd love to hear them), playing Sims and cooking a big Sunday dinner, which today will be Weight Watchers Simple Start friendly, as I'm giving the plan a go for a fortnight. If you are a Weight Watchers member you can add me as a friend (my profile is Tattooedtealady) to see how I get on with Simple Start. The weather has been very glum so far for 2014, and I've been taking every opportunity I can get to get under my new blanket which was a Secret Santa gift from Hannah. It's so soft and it makes me a little bit more willing to do some reading for my dissertation. Now 2014 has arrived, it's dawned on me how close I am to completing uni. My degree will have been four years in total, and it's going to be quite a shock to the system to no longer be 'a student'. My dissertation is based around Mental Illness Stigma, so it's a really interesting topic for me to be working on. It's a lot of journal reading, not my favourite pass time at all. But I'm being responsible and devoting a good chunk of my Sunday to catching up with that scary looking pile of journal articles... And the week ahead.
There's been a few new features on the blog this week, which I hope you've all been enjoying. It's always a bit nerve-racking introducing a new feature but they have been received well so far, which is great. Coming up on the blog this week we have the perfect contour, a stunning scent and a hair care favourite, as well as lots, lots more as well as a couple more new features to feast your eyes on. I'm really excited for the direction my blog is taking in 2014, and I hope you'll enjoy the journey with me! I've been trying a few new products this week, which is always inevitable after Christmas and sale shopping. I started 2014 with a new (at-home) manicure, opting for shorter, slightly rounded nails, neat cuticles and a soft nude that's taken top spot as my favourite nude lacquer, even after just one use. The polish in question is Mavala's Ivory Beige (BeautyBay, 5ml, £4.50) which comes in a sweet, mini sized bottle. Even application, great colour, although three coats is better to ensure a real opaque finish. The colour is just so lovely and so far it's been six days with no chipping, just how I like my polishes. My base of choice at the moment is always O.P.I Nail Envy (Boots, 15ml, £18.65), a coveted nail saviour that is lasting me ages. Not technically a base polish, I do quite like using it this way, as I think it holds the polish for longer. My glossy top coat was the Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat (Amazon, 14ml, £8.24) which isn't my favourite, but also seems to be lasting forever so I've decided to give it a second chance. I do quite like the high-shine finish it gives. One of my Christmas presents was the Dior Creme de Rose Smoothing Plumping Lip Balm and I've been using it for the past week or so, exclusively with no other balms or salves getting a look in. So far, so good, but I'll give you the full low-down soon!
So until next week, I'm going to overdose on Buffy and bury my head in journal articles. Maybe with a sneaky face mask in-between. Happy Sunday!
